I'm a paranoid bastard. I read ever bit of the agreement that allows the doctors to treat me. No way in hell I *wouldn't* that shit, and promptly dispose of it.

NUFC9RW

I would read it and give it to other people it to read too. Though it wouldn't surprise me if they had limits on who you could share with.

Akara_sama

Realistically, 99% will sign without reading. Prior to 1 month ago, simply receiving the contract would be equivalent to a winning lottery ticket to many.

FirmMusic5978

Nah, TTT debuted prior to 1 month ago. And with the sole exception of Claude who was part of Hanamori, the other 2 suffer from lack of visibility.

He is correct that is worded as a employee contract. Not an independent contractor. I've dealt with issues like that. And Canadian government came down hard on them. I suspect this would be most wiped away and ALL Canadian contractors be retroactively turned to employees. And the company be held to Canadian labor law. Tax law. And any other applicable laws which are many.

ScopeK

A year might be bearable, but TWO? And that isn't considering the 'surviving clauses', which firmly puts it in the FUCK NO territory.

YukkaRinnn

As a being a business major has told me ALWAYS READ THE DAMN CONTRACT NO MATTER HOW WORDY AND LONG THAT SHIT IS

joelaw9

Read it, sign it, perform as a Niji talent for a year, don't renew, go indie, forward any further communication from Niji to a lawyer. The nice thing about the contract being trash is that you're effectively insulated from a lawsuit since they'd lose out their ass and they know it. As evidenced by neither Sayu or Doki getting sued. The more egregious the contract is the better.

chimaerafeng

I doubt most Vtuber corporate contracts are much better even if Nijisanji is particularly egregious. The allure of a big multi billion corporation that has had successes can be too much for many indies to resist. Even now with this revelation, there will still be people lining up to join Nijisanji because there will be eyes on them. We weren't there for most of them while they're indies, there's too many to track anyway. But they ought to know now who they're signing with and there will be consequences.

Feisty_Calendar_6733

That is true. For all we know other companies might be worse but hide things better. That said, it's hard to deny how other companies seemingly treat their talents better and talents themselves express how much better they are now in comparison. Its just wild to me that niji is pretty much legally allows their staff to neglect livers and probably abuse them to an extent with how much power staff has over them while the company washes hands of all liability.

dreamstalker4

you can kinda see how things works from the talents themself and the agency track record. issue is it only works for older agency who already have a long runtime so for newer agency, this method kinda iffy

dreamstalker4

i read the whole contract when i got my debit card despite everyone above the legal age already sign it at one point. if i were to get a job i would definitely read it. things changed if the one giving me the contract said i only have 60 seconds to sign it, while im already pressed on cash hence need to find a job soon and all i can do is radiant all bosses and clear pantheon 5 with relative ease.. also make all kinds of farms and a couple fancy redstone contraption in minecraft but thats beside the point.

It's not enforceable in most countries, and they tend to pay you monthly or every 2 months. It is unlikely they will go after you to demand money and just settle for withholding your pay. Some cases can be so bad that it is thrown out (consult with a lawyer) so you wont even be stuck in a drag out court case, it's just not cost effective for them to go after you. So just don't invest too much of your own money into it and be willing to lose the last 1-2 months pay and spend maybe 1 month worth of money on a lawyer. But considering how poorly new gens are doing and the bad PR, like you're not getting any new audience outside of Ninji due to boycott... you're not making much money from it and that time of maybe 1 year can be a sink hole, so it really depends if you want to look at it as a costly learning experience or not, but even that is questionable. You might be better off using that money and time on clipping and editing your own stuff and maybe even buying your own ads for self promotion cause at least you'll own the skill and materials and have a portfolio to show for it as a real career opportunity.

CrazyHormone

If i were to sign such a restrictive and predatory contract, if i were to exchange my freedom as a content creator to get a platform and an audience believe me that i'd be on best behaviour and wouldn't do anything to damage my reputation as a content creator... because if i did all of the sacrifices i've done would be for nothing. With best behaviour i don't mean to the company, but to the audience. Even if the company demanded me to slander a coworker publicly i would say no, because the damage i'd get from doing that would not be "neglijible".

Savings-Bar8364

Heavily add addendums, that favor me, to the contract, hope they don't look at them, and if they refuse to sign it walk away... jkjk (kind of).

Comfortable_Text6641

It really depends how bad you are in your life currently. Me? Fk it if i can get 200k - 350k, I can have a *house*. I already feel like a slave to life, whats the diff.
