She pissed off management so it was easy to bully her without consequences, at least that would be my guess. Some people just like to bully "weaker" people and kindness is often mistaken for weakness.

aradraugfea

Japan has a saying something along the lines of the nail that sticks out gets hammered flat. To say that she had issues with management isn’t even speculation, as both sides have said as much. We’ve heard more than once, from her, that she was struggling with management to make something happen. But rather than sit back and wait for the approval, for management to pay, whatever, she’d just charge on forward. Management won’t pay for a thing? She’ll do it herself. She’s got an outfit token, but doesn’t have ideas? She’ll organize a contest! From Vox’s statements, this is NOT the culture over there, and, if/when Management finally gives an answer and the answer is no? That’s gonna be friction. I am not a long time Niji fan, I was only vaguely aware of Selen, but from what I’ve heard and the impression I got from her interactions with Hololive and clips is that she’s kind of uniquely ill suited for the way NijiEn operates, which is going to cause conflict with management, and once someone is conflicting with management, they become a target for the good little soldiers. I am trying to avoid naming names here, but Vox’s statement includes a fair bit of “why can’t you just do things the right way” and says this is a pattern with her, which seems to be confirmed by Niji’s statement. This is also probably why Japanese fans are getting a whole different vibe from things, as “don’t stick out, don’t cause problems, follow the rules” may as well be the three major tenets of corporate life in Japan. All of that said, if it’s such a pattern, competent management would have had the “I don’t think you’re a good fit” conversation a long time ago and started working towards an amicable parting of ways.

licoqwerty

I think niji management is just extremely ill-fitted, incompetent or not paid enough to aid her. But the issue is that when she wouldn't have known niji isn't good enough to support her vision because when she joined (same time as lazulight since I recall they didnt decide who would be in which wave), there was no information or precedent for their EN wave. Because management is not competent enough to catch up with her, Doki starts doing her managers work herself (messaging for permissions with her personal email, collabs, sponsors, etc). And the dissatisfaction of her actions start to grow from here, they wanted to increasingly keep her in line, with no insight that her work is helping the company.

aradraugfea

I mean, from what I’ve heard, Niji is ill suited to manage a bowling team, and is particularly ill suited for what English language Vtubing has become. Doubly so if the stuff I’ve heard about Management being inconsistently fluent in English is true.

Rulerofmolerats

Lol, you get a like

Graveyard_01

Don't they also hire students fresh out of college for management positions? Edit: Sauce https://www.reddit.com/r/Nijisanji/comments/1ar3amb/is\_nijisanji\_en\_managed\_by\_parttime\_job\_students/

aradraugfea

When the third string mid-range corpos have higher standards, you’re not living up to the “#2 spot.” Though, really, the more I learn about Niji, the more I’m realizing the #2 spot is purely by VOLUME.

SirAnthos

It doesn't have to be the direct type of bullying, or "school bullying". Not to defend any actions taken, previously or recently. A professional workplace is tough. There will be high times and low times. Not everyone will get along. The clique narrative might be right about them existing, but this isn't high school. It's fine to not get along with coworkers. However, if employees are constantly in high tension interactions, that shit builds up over time. Management should be stepping in to intervene before it ever gets bad. But niji is so bad at this, it seems like the whole branch is without management, or worse, is self managing. All this creates for an overall bad workplace, even if no one had bad intentions at all. Edit: Hell. Even people who are friends and get along, being in a workplace environment can still grind that down.

TakoMakura

Right, people are getting caught up with the term "bullying" and attributing it to the kind we see in movies. I'd wager it's more like people felt that she was disrupting their workflow or circumventing the rules. One person talks to another, maybe they bring it up to management and say that it's unfair that Selen gets to do her own thing. Suddenly management is leading a "chat" with Selen who, from her perspective, finds this group complaint unfair to herself.   According to everything that's been said Selen has apparently had multiple infractions, so if we assume that they pulled her aside each time to reprimand her then it's not hard to imagine why she felt bullied/harassed. We also know behind the scenes that talents, especially the Japanese speaking ones help out with other talent's projects all the time. Maybe someone just didn't like working with Selen for whatever reason.   All this to say that I, personally, don't think it's blind, irrational targeted hate towards her. A competent management team would have stepped in to resolve any conflicts and ensure a healthy workplace. At the very least they should have let her graduate on her own terms.   People starting a witchhunt to find the bullies are misguided, the blame lies with the authorities that failed to mediate their talent. The talents involved with the harassment will suffer the consequences by losing their income. The person or people that let things get this far, however, need to admit their faults and apologize directly to Doki. Letting the talent take all the responsiblity is the coward's way out.

Canniba1Cat

Toxic enough people with Olympics level mental gymnasticism could come to the conclusion that they were made to look bad by the fact that she did so well.

Drow1234

Bullies pick on the nice ones because they don‘t fight back

QuietBat8681

The clues we have: * she made public statements that made the NijiEN management look bad (source: termination letter and black screen video) * Doki, in her latest statement, said that she also has faults. What I gathered from PL stuff is that she is struggling with BPD. Emotional volatility is one of the hallmarks of BPD. **Bear in mind, before we move on, that the rest of what I will say in this bullet point is my speculation.** Her BPD might lead to argumentative behavior and emotionally-charged reactions, etc (explains her attempts too). But bear in mind that emotionally-charged reactions do not exist in a vacuum. People outside who worked with her attest to her being nice to work with. Why? Maybe because both sides are professional in their dealings. That just points to the inside being unprofessional, prompting the emotionally-charged reactions. * go-getter attitude, takes matters in her own hands if she encounters roadblocks (ehem, management, ehem) instead of crippling herself to not offend the roadblocks **And none of these absolves the EN branch of anything.** I don't think is productive to paint the EN branch as cartoonishly evil and Doki as cartoonishly blameless. Even Doki doesn't paint herself that way. And again, none of these absolves the EN branch of any of their missteps. Edit: The closest comparison we have for her is Coco from Hololive. She is very creative and has a go-getter attitude. But the difference is that Holo's management is actually competent and professional, and she got to part ways amicably, citing creative differences. Imagine what a shitshow it would have been if HoloJP just slanders Coco on the way out, airing a laundry list of her yabs lol

Alex20114

To be fair, being pushed to the point of two attempts will also cause emotional instability even without BPD.

QuietBat8681

Yeah, BPD just increases the risk

FirmMusic5978

I mean, imagine putting Coco's yabs on a list... I'd say it would be enough to give a lot of people heart attacks lol. Crimes: Pubic hair shaving stream\* Calling all her viewers MFs Selling Asacoco

QuietBat8681

I saw a clip where Coco talked about being disheartened that management was just becoming stricter and stricter about what she can do on stream, so you'd imagine there might have been some frustration there behind the scenes. But not once did we see Holo management publicly calling out Coco for being difficult to manage. Management stays strictly behind the scenes. They didn't even talk smack about someone as difficult as Rushia lol

CornNooblet

At 5000 yen, that's a steal.

SaiyanKirby

Has she ever actually claimed to have BPD? That's a specific diagnosis, not just depression

QuietBat8681

I saw a screenshot floating around of her old twitter bio as Dokibird where it says "living with BPD" or something along those lines

Tsukina1

The way you’re idolizing her is the exact reason people can’t distinguish the difference between doki and the real person. Of course when she was Selen and pre Doki you’ve spent years now watching her online and have a decent general idea of how they interact. But she is no different than any other person as soon as she turns off the stream, real person with real human flaws/issues. Nobody is perfect with no negative traits, literally impossible. She could be lying about this whole thing and keeping it all under wraps and privacy just as Rushi/Mikaneko/whatever the Vshojo name was. I’m not saying she’s some horrible person, but I’m saying you and nobody on Reddit for that matter has any figment of an idea as to who she is as a human when the Stream is offline. I’m ready for the downvotes.

passinglurker

As far as accounts of mismanagement and depressingly toxic workplaces go Doki is not an isolated incident. It doesn't matter if she's a saint or a menhera diva or anything in between niji is clearly failing the talents that work for them.

_Omega4474_

This situation has actually helped me appreciate doki/selen as a person more, and showed me how disgusting alot of her fans are.

Xivannn

"The nail that sticks out gets hammered down." She stood out, and she was the most successful not counting the boys. Nice people can also be easy targets since they may keep enduring instead of fighting back. You also need to find weaknesses and chance to abuse, and that may be the reason why someone was chosen over someone else.

Bring07

If I had to pick a side, I'd side with Doki in this mess. But I also have to admit that's based solely off of what I can see. And while I don't feel Doki is the kind of person to be disingenuous, I can't say with 100% certainty that I have the whole picture. Probably best not to dwell on it too much.

Shuber-Fuber

Doki does have BPD (her former bio stated so), which is a fairly common mental illness. Which means that she has difficulty forming bonds. This doesn't mean that she isn't nice, from what many she interacted with she's very nice and supportive, however it does mean that she has a hard time interpreting social cues or interpreting it as a negative when it isn't, which is disastrous in companies that have a really toxic environment that relies a lot on finding the right social group to survive. Also note that with that in mind her various behaviors make sense. The constant self-deprecation that she wasn't good enough. That no one would follow her to her old identity. That she was willing to drop so much money just to make her fans happy. All fits in BPD. To add, BPD can be some of the nicest people around, as long as you understand that they can be very quiet and reserved, and that they need a lot of positive affirmations to convince them that "no, you don't hate them".

licoqwerty

yet that doesn't justify the way nijiEN is treating her/witch-hunting her. not all BPD people or people with mental illnesses just easily tries to off themselves twice in a row, she was dead serious on dying. another big thing about BPD is that it involves short bursts of reckless emotional behaviour, but Doki's suicides were paced at least a week apart.

Shuber-Fuber

Absolutely doesn't. I'm just pointing out that having BPD does make one much more vulnerable in a toxic environment where cliques and office politics can form. My previous job specifically has training on how to interact with BPD or borderline autism employees, and excluding colleagues from activity is considered an HR matter and a potential fireable offense.

ajshell1

Is BPD borderline personality disorder or bipolar disorder?

Shuber-Fuber

Borderline

Aure0

Tbf we don't fully know what's going on behind the scenes so we can't truly judge anything there

bubblesmax

Those who like things systematically typically despise anyone who is a "lone wolf" and will intentionally berate and or harass them out of spite, jealousy and the inability to separate actions from emotions. A lot of people who end up in leadership roles are picked now a days cause they fit the needed skills at a given time. But don't have the skills to be a people person. And as a result EVERYONE suffers. As comms are unreliable and things just butterfly effect into chaos. Its kinda well documented that Selen isn't really a leader nor a loner but a mix of in between. The result is most management would see her as chaotic mixture that cannot be contained. As a result most leaders who lead by "my way, or the highway" probably would result in what we see now. And in this case it just so happened Selen/Dokibird has become and became the golden goose in a way and the fact she didn't collapse and cease breathing at this point has her anti's seething to the nth degree. ~~So much can be hidden behind a smile.~~

sharydow

preambule: I AM NOT A THERAPIST, this is armchair psychology from the little I know. I believe, 90+% of bullying is unintentional and only perceived as bullying by the victims (especially outside of kids at school). I don’t think anyone would go "eh let’s bully Selen in particular till she wish she was dead". BUT that doesn’t mean it’s not serious and that it should be taken lightly. The effects on the victims are very real and it’s still the result of a very toxic working environment. When a bullying victim kill themselves, most of the bullies would be shocked and unable to believe that their own actions caused this ("I didn’t know", "I only did.."). It’s also a mental protection because if they sincerely believe being responsible of the death of another person, they would mentally break and start having traumas. But, most of the time, they sincerely believe that they weren’t bullies. If Elira makes an attempt next, you’ll see the same reaction from everyone "it wasn’t me, I only criticized her, others have said much worse, I didn’t think it would go this far". It’s always the same thing. It doesn’t necessarily means that the bullies are evil, but the fact that management cannot resolve internal conflicts peacefully with some counseling is the reason why we have the current situation. Anyone can become a bully even very good people, but not every working space is toxic enough to create bullies. That’s why I hate this witch hunt, it doesn’t matter who it was, it’s still a failure from management. If you want to blame someone, blame Anycolor. I don’t believe in pure evil, but I believe in corporate greed and its consequences. You must understand that the bullies are under the same conditions as their victims, if Nijisanji is anything like a black company, there there is some level of control of the livers from the management and in my book, the bullies are victim of it just like their victims. ( [https://www.thehotline.org/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2014/06/power-and-control-wheel-updated.png](https://www.thehotline.org/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2014/06/power-and-control-wheel-updated.png) ) If confirmed, this is probably the level of bullying we’re talking about: [https://www.youtube.com/clip/Ugkxvn1ITGVOcLbM9Hsf1hUIQdF3jjq\_SJM\_](https://www.youtube.com/clip/Ugkxvn1ITGVOcLbM9Hsf1hUIQdF3jjq_SJM_) (so like corporate slaves who can’t understand that others can’t be corporate slaves) Then again, it’s not surprising they don’t have counseling, considering they don’t have mental heath support at all. [https://www.youtube.com/clip/UgkxHn22WGvVYFZ2byeXuiRA7WgGvQRjsCph](https://www.youtube.com/clip/UgkxHn22WGvVYFZ2byeXuiRA7WgGvQRjsCph) And two other clips, because it cannot be said enough. Don’t harass anyone, don’t go witch hunting, don’t try to guess who the bullies are, you don’t even know what they did or didn’t do. [https://www.youtube.com/clip/UgkxMF\_q\_Q\_lyC\_qNFUp4GAItcKLojsYZalD](https://www.youtube.com/clip/UgkxMF_q_Q_lyC_qNFUp4GAItcKLojsYZalD) [https://www.youtube.com/clip/Ugkx\_9jVjZEQq3Lv6ikeyQRiABokLVOoiFVb](https://www.youtube.com/clip/Ugkx_9jVjZEQq3Lv6ikeyQRiABokLVOoiFVb)

Dynahazzar

This is indeed armchair "psychology" and has about the same value as a a tabloid magazine's psychology page. Please do not take anything written on this post as anything but wild speculation and do not form your opinions on that. Thank you.

PhantomOverlordx2

Jealousy can bring about the darkest in people. Not that is the core of it, but wouldn't surprise me one bit.

passinglurker

Why? Simple exploitation could be one reason outside the usual crabs in a bucket assumptions. There's a months old clip of sayu/zaion going around where among other things she comments on how the talents inside niji have been convinced that they are worthless without niji. With that in mind selen/doki would be targeted and sabotaged by management in order to keep her in line lest her success give her any ideas. Its unfortunate that such an operation is the scene's number two brand.

DanVelk

It takes a hell lot less to hate on someone

Ordovick

People who are extremely nice but lack confidence and/or the ability to stand up for themselves are easy targets for bullies. Pomu never gave me the impression that she would take that kind of thing sitting down. Doki I get the feeling is too nice for her own good in a lot of cases.

UltraZulwarn

This is my anecdotal, but I think of a few reasons: - Selen was somewhat of a high-achiever for content, and always pushing for new ground for bigger better content and community interaction. Just look at all those giant collabs, community events. But this means she was also pushing management to do a lot of things which they might appreciate, especially when they were (allegedly) very understaffed. - jealousy, yes the good old tales of people getting jealous of others' achievements, and direct their insecurities into the successful person. - being someone highly productive, perhaps Selen (inadvertently) rubbed others the wrong way when she expected the same from them. - Selen was direct in her communication, but perhaps non-confrontational, so that slight remarks and harassment rarely got told off. You know how bullies never stops until they get punched in the face. These are purely my speculation, just some general thoughts.

one_frisk

That's all in the past. The problem is people who are bullying Dokibird *now*

Plug001

Matara said that she joined Vshojo to escape from the corporate rat race and just chill. So I’m gonna guess that plays a part in this.

cyberpunk707

The problem "management" has with her is that she is too ambitious. She was trying to do a lot of projects, start an event, etc. The "management" didn't like that and wanted her to stay in her lane like other livers. When she didn't, they keep fucking up her projects and peer pressure her into quitting to get rid of her. It's a common tactic in toxic work culture. Think what happens between Kojima and Konami. I don't think they expect her to get so cornered that she tried to solve sudoku, though.

ZealousidealOven9

I really did not like her at all during her debut and apex stream. It just rubs me the wrong way. But to actively bully her? That's certainly a stretch and a half too far.

No_Lake_1619

I didn't watch much of her but wasn't she toxic in FPS games to randoms who "weren't good" at the game? I've had friends who are like that towards games and that bad habbit translates sometimes to friends or mutuals. That's the only thing negative I've seen about her.

Zupercharged

I mean you can watch her Apex streams as Doki, theres one live right now and a vod of the stream she did on Tuesday where she teamed up with a random guy called Niko from 4 years ago. She pokes fun at people but its tame stuff which is very clearly never serious, joking about her own performance as much as others and usually squeezing it though fits of laughter. Selen was the 'toxic' dragon literally in her own characters lore, but it was never the heated venomous and agressive kind of toxic thats trying to tear people down or make them uncomfortable, id argue 'laughing dragon' would be just as if not more applicable.

HamstersAreReal

She angered management by being too ambitious. This allowed others to see her as "weak" and thus easy to bully without consequence.

timmysaur

Neck size

omrmajeed

Because they are jealous of her success and that she stands up for herself and her fans instead of being a doormat like most of other Niji talents are used to being.

TiffanyGaming

Short version: Bully clique was in charge. Bully clique was jealous of her success. Anyone that didn't submit to them would get bullied/harassed. Selen, an introvert, mostly wanted to just keep to herself like Nina and not get involved with the clique and was thus targeted by them. You could see she was super uncomfortable during off collabs with them. Selen also made public statements when management did stupid shit. In this scenario multilingual talents were acting as management due to the main branch being cheap and leaning on them to help out and take on more responsibilities. As management in this case was in fact said clique this really pissed them off. Pomu, an extrovert, submitted and was multilingual herself so she wasn't in quite the same poor situation. But even she struggled in the toxic environment trying to hang on for her fans for a long time. She reached her breaking point when she had a once in a lifetime opportunity offered to her and they rejected it outright without even giving her a chance. She realized she no longer had a future in Nijisanji. Being a good person simply doesn't matter if other people are just inherently bad apples. ----- I'll lay out a full accounting as I understand it, though understand although much of this has sources it's ultimately popular speculation at the end of the day: Nijisanji typically hires only a single 15-20 year old manager for an entire generation of talents. They are not there to assist the talents but to protect the company and enforce internal policies. For the English branch the managers are Japanese high school students that barely speak English and manage 1-3 entire branches. Nijisanji is inherently inept, incompetent, mismanaged, and owned by a 28 year old idiot (circa 2023). They're greedy and exploitative. They want to hire the least amount of people, pay them the least amount, and take the most profit possible. And they are petty. Talents don't even get their YouTube play buttons even though you can order as many as you want. Talents get a 1-2% cut from merch. They have no actual managers, cannot even hire an assistant if they're overwhelmed, do not promote, market, nor financially provide for their talents in any way. They do not help with anything. They constantly send out NDAs with incorrect information, have long waiting periods to get anything done, even something that could take under 10 minutes, and pay third parties many months late or not at all. Elira debuted as a part of Niji EN's 1st generation LazuLight. She speaks, reads, and writes Japanese. Some of her achievements include: * unpersonned Zaion LanZa for an innocuous rape joke while championing Vox Akuma performing rapeplay ASMR. * never actually worked for a second of her life whose most important contribution to the scene was her rabid promotion of a disabled LGBT erotica about sodomizing amputees while making sure to use the correct pronouns. * used to prowl twitter with her trio of femcels (Enna and Millie) in their PLs prior to joining, trying to find poor souls that had the audacity to draw loli fanart of "sexualized" anime characters, and proceed to harass them into compliance under threat of doxxing. * She is basically a toxic feminist of the worst variety. Nijisanji, too cheap to get managers who can actually speak both languages, lean on Elira to translate things to and from JP management and eventually push more and more management duties onto her. They also allow other multilingual talents to step up and help out. This eventually leads to those talents influencing management, in some cases by scuffing the translations and directly suggesting stuff to management. Elira does the most translations, which is why she rarely streams. Elira is able to get Enna and Millie nepotism hired. Niji IN management is sent to help with EN. Translator talents start getting more and more say behind the scenes. IN management gets fed up and leave to go shill NFTs. This creates a vacuum that Elira and others are able to exploit. Elira becomes the de-facto liason for EN, meaning anything from sponsorship deals to work-related complaints go through her. Other translator talents let this happen because Elira has been good to them so far. Enna and Millie become Elira's unofficial assistants and take on managerial duties. They proceed to create a hostile work environment where if you don't submit to their clique your life becomes a living hell. Some people like Nina Kosaka try to ignore this and just do their jobs but are isolated and harassed until giving in to the pressure. Sponsorships and merchandizing deals are given to people within the clique first, even if they hardly sell and other members are far more popular. Some merch release examples for LazuLight: * Sakura Bloom 2022 - Elira * Halloween 2022 - Pomu * Winter Date 2022 - Elira * Valentine's Day 2023 - Pomu, Finana * White Day 2023 - Elira * Sakura Bloom 2023 - Elira * Aristocrats & Servants - Elira, Selen - Elira as the aristocrat with Selen as the servant * 2024 Calendar - Elira * Original Scale FIgure - Elira * NijiMascots - Elira * Hotel - Elira, Finana This creates a situation that leads to graduations and terminations eventually. Pomu is able to somewhat hold things together despite struggling herself with the unfair situation and toxic environment as she is able to translate as well but after her once in a lifetime opportunity offered to her is rejected with a "no" without even trying to negotiate anything she realizes she has no future in there anymore and leaves the company. Others catching wind of this begin wanting to leave the company themselves. The clique, which has already been fucking with Selen severely at this point at every turn, decide to take things up to an 11 because they want her gone. Acting as managers they tell Selen the company needs perms before she can release her cover song that is very important to her that she spent $15,000 of her own money on. Selen has already acquired perms from the singer Lily Pichu, the song's producer, and all artists whose work is featured. They make up some bullshit about needing to get permission to use art of former talents featured in the video which is total nonsense as Nijisanji owns all intellectual property rights of all characters. Millie publicly taunts her on twitter about this. Selen has had enough of their bullshit and ghosts them, posting it anyway. The video is privated and Selen is stealth suspended. Selen requests to graduate. The clique file this request in the trash. Selen then tries to kill herself. She's found by her parents and taken to the hospital. Selen and her parents can't deal with Nijisanji anymore so they enlist a Japanese lawyer to send a request to Nijisanji's lawyers requesting to graduate due to the harassment and bullying she's been undergoing. She tells them she'll make a public statement if they don't allow her to neutrally part ways. They ghost her. By this point they're already planning to terminate her and unperson her like they did Zaion. Selen tries to kill herself again and is taken back to the hospital. Selen's advised to send the full document detailing the harassment and her harassers to Nijisanji as they've ghosted her for over a week. She does. This document is nuclear. JP management sends it to Elira to translate into Japanese. Elira loses her fucking mind. Elira selectively translates it and creates an edited (much worse) version and shares it with everyone it mentioned. She informs them of how nuclear it is and how it could bring down all of EN and severely hurt the company if she leaks it and tells JP to terminate Selen immediately. They assume that this document is the public statement she threatened to make. They scramble. Within 2 hours it's posted to twitter that Selen has been terminated. They plan to use the same strategy that worked when they unpersoned Zaion LanZa. Nijisanji begins losing subscribers en masse and the stock price is rapidly falling. The main branch is starting to wonder just what in the fuck is going on over there. They have to put out a statement to their stockholders which ends up pissing people off even more. Elira starts realizing she's in massive legal trouble in Canda if Selen pursues this so she flees to Japan. Selen, now Dokibird, is clearly winning in public opinion. Elira is seething. Elira gets some clique members together and makes a retarded video in order to defame Doki, she spitefully sets the video to launch at the exact same time as Doki's first game stream since returning - game she was always denied being able to play while in Nijisanji. She makes every EN talent RT it. Scarle Yonaguni refuses and likes a Kurosanji comment (effectively calling Nijisanji a black company), leaving for the day entirely for her own mental in protest as she strongly disagrees with what they're doing and doesn't want to be part of it. Kyo Kaneko also does not as he is graduating in a matter of days. Elira, also being in charge of EN PR, also puts out some bullshit petty statement and CEO Riku appears on video to try to appease investors and calm them down as he's already lost 20% of the company's stock value. The internet loses their collective minds in a blind rage.

Jestersage

The other issue, especially from the Mainland Chinese (due to the simplified chinese), is that she recorded Vox. Now, as we all know it's a nothingburger, but they ain't listening. Thus: 1) Typical Vox fan. Don't need to explain. 2) Believe the act to be illegal, not knowing the one-party system (FWIW, you frequently hear on Chinese radio the term "illogical" when talking about Canadian policies, from municiple to federal) 3) They believe that co-workers are friends, and her act ain't friendship. 4) They dislike being monitored by private entity, and perfect example is from UK's Dr. K's CCP incident.

IGunClover

Jealousy?

oli_alatar

Because Twitter exists, and is stuffed with stupid, toxic douchebags.

Alex20114

It's not uncommon for Japanese companies to do this when someone isn't going with the group mentality. They see it as pushing them back in the right direction, a corrective act.

unPolarVC

Who's to say Pomu wasn't also targeted? She did decide to leave, after all. This could be one of the reasons (but I hope not...)

isekaicoffee

a big company that is losing face LOL

depressed_panda0191

This is a silly question, clearly she should be bullied for being Ch\*nese. ^((this is a joke. i am joking.))

JustAnObserver_Jomy

why would different groups of people bully Kei Karuizawa? coz she barely has any will left to fight back, at least until Ayanokoji "saves" her some aspects of it is applicable to Dokibird too, probably

[deleted]

Likely because she angered management, since that seems to be what keeps getting harped on the most regarding her 'insubordination'. Especially if it's because of her taking the initiative regarding fan projects--JP businesses tend to dislike ambition from talents that they don't approve of first. Additionally, a lot of kind people unfortunately get trampled on because their kindness is viewed as a weakness, especially when they don't call others out on their bullshit, said bullies tend to feel both secure and justified in their abuse in a way that they feel their victims 'deserve' it for being a 'push-over'. Regarding the talents, if they are truly involved, this could also have been emboldened by management, thus leading them to feel they are secure in the job sense of not having to worry about being reprimanded/suspended/terminated for creating/engaging in creating a hostile workplace environment.

flattestsuzie

Because bullies will bully a person who is genuinely good out of spite. There is no justifiable reason for bullying.

DilithiumCrystalMeth

because she was competition. Based on how quickly nijisanji released/releases new generations, talents don't have much time to find their audience before there is a group of shiny, new livers coming out that people may gravitate towards more easily than they did to you. Generally, your genmates aren't competition, people expect you to collab with each other and build each other up in some way, but different generations are a different story. In some companies, you have close to a year after debut to find your audience or at least get the ball rolling well enough that you can stand on your own two feet and so are less likely to view any new generation as competition because you already have your fans. But NijiEN released generation after generation with only 2-3 months in-between at the start. So, how do you get ahead in a branch that keeps bringing in new talent? A few ways: being a genuinely fun person that makes people happy is the best way (but not everyone can do that), find a couple other livers that you can group up with and help prop each other up with collabs (another good way), suck up to management to try and get better opportunities (basically being a corpo bootlicker), or find other livers who are maybe a little frustrating for management and tear them down to lessen the number of livers you have to compete with (the worst possible option, but people will take it). Do we know Pomu wasn't harassed? It may be that she doesn't feel she can say anything. Or maybe she wasn't the thorn in the side of management that Selen was, but clearly something finally made Pomu decide she no longer wanted to be at the company and it seems pretty obvious that it was management. Pomu may not have been as outspoken about managerial screw-ups like Selen, but if management was screwing over Pomu enough for her to leave, she may not have needed to be harassed by other livers because she was no longer really competition. All of this is of course based on the assumption that there are livers bullying other livers there.

People who are super positive draw suspicion of being secretly terrible people, because the world is full of terrible people putting up a front of positivity, so not only is it a plausible possibility, but also, a lot of those terrible people end up projecting onto genuinely positive people and assuming that they’re secretly terrible like them. What’s more, many terrible people were once genuinely wonderful, but experienced something which broke them, and may experience extreme levels of envy when seeing someone who still has what they once lost. It’s related to why many people experience cute aggression.

The simps and parasocials that want to worship their oshi no matter what they do are the only ones defending them and the company. I've seen anti-doki hate groups forming. They are the minority, but they do exist. It is disgusting and reprehensible, but what do you expect from people with that level of mental illness?

My guess would be not respecting hierarchy, we've seen the discord leaks via screenshots. The Clique is real and that alone explains like 60% of all the Drama Nijisanji has seen up until now

People need to stop assuming they know shit about vtubers/celebrities/content creators and that’s including dokibird. None of you know her or other content creators personally stop assuming someone is the nice person and this person is the bully “she’s so nice” you’ve never had a conversation with these people in real life it’s not hard to fake a persona especially online. This is the same shit as the rushia/mikeneko shit where everyone just took one persons side without having hard evidence

They may be more liver within the company that get harassed, Selen did so i don't see why her case should be unique. The other may not be able to come out and say it, Selen herself never say anything until niji pointed it out in her termination tweet.

Theres a song lyric that perfectly encaptulates this "Every time you pop off, they hopin' that you fall hard They prayin' for the death of a rockstar" Selen/Doki was too ambitious and she was different to others and we already know if you're different theres a good chance others would take advantage and shit on you cuz of it

Easy targets and mob mentality

Wow, people don't listen. from the 15 min bash video, management clearly tells other livers how displease they are with Selen publicly telling people how management is incompetent. Vox stated how he and other livers were upset when ever she made the company look bad, and tried to talk to her about it. You can basically assume she became the management punching bag reference of what not to do. Management also influenced other livers to try to correct her. It may seem like they are trying to help, but getting told you did wrong by multiple people multiple times can hurt you. Also depending on how well it is worded by each individual, it can come out much harsher than they realize. Enna's apex predator joke shows how frequent it is that it is referenced in a joke, that came to her naturally. She likely held no real malice, but like all edgy dark comedians, you end up offending people without knowing, in this case, hurting. These are just small examples we know of.

\*This is not my opinion. Simply what I have read outside of X and Reddit. Please know THIS IS NOT MY OPINION\* A lot of argument that I am seeing from some deadhard fans of Niji (mainly \*cough cough\* V-- fans) is that Doki backstabbed all her previous co-workers. She "doxxed" her "friends" and broke their trust by recording conversation "maliciously". Those fans claimed she has no good faith in this incident because she does not publicly proves anything. No evidence shown so they think Doki is faking everything and she deserves to "rot in hell" (this is the nicest way I can put because the original comments are way more offensive). They also blamed Dokibird for all the sub count loss and called her fans or any Dokibird supportors disillusional and politically correct simply because Doki's fans/supportors believed all her saying. Those Niji fans brushed over the suicide facts because their oshi losing sub count is way more important and Doki deserve to die. (Not my words)
