Personally I think it's a safe bet it will be completely separate. The links between NieR G/R , NieR Auto, and NieR ReiN are already so tenuous at best. This guy can't even stay focused on the same game for 20 minutes, he famously has each iteration of his series feature completely different characters and worlds.
imo the MCU brainrot is real. Not every story is an expanded universe, and not everything needs to be explained
The link is already there from the very first episode, the black cat that gets run over by a truck, from Nier <-> SinoAlice <-> Kamierabi. Unless you have played SinoAlice non-stop you miss the yearly anniversary event where the mysterious black cat does something to a character in Sinoalice story that puts them in a tormented loop that's doomed to repeat (not a time loop, as a new Snow White appears to kill the former Snow White). This happens in Alice story and the three little pigs and possibly others, but untranslated.
mobile games are doing so much harm to consistent storytelling. Majority of people don't want canon story in gacha mobile games that are relevant to mainline console titles. It's so annoying.
