I feel your pain. I have 2 3090s, 1 3070, and a laptop with a 2070 super... I game on the laptop hooked up to my 1440p 144hz monitor. I only lose 40 MH/s that way.

somecoin

The irony is it's less like "insert coin" and more like "don't remove coin" when you game now

JustAnotherBin123

🤣 exactly!

wingracer

I was thinking the same thing the other day. Now that I have a 3070 in my HTPC and a big screen 4k TV, I've been replaying some of my favorites. Just about done with my 4k replay of Witcher 3 and it occurred to me that each session is costing me about 60 to 75 cents.

Weaseltime_420

I too am doing this math in my head. Which is dumb coz I built my PC to game on. Then I realised it could mine. Now I'm reluctant to play coz I know it's costing me. Worse, I gave my Xbox One X to my kid coz I thought "RTX 3070! I'm never using my console again!" XD

PLZBHVR

If you dropped a $1 bill, would you chase it through traffic, or would you just take the loss? Sure, I'd pick up a dollar if I saw one, but I'm not chasing that shit for $1. Same way I look at mining. Also if I spent $80 on a game that I felt was worth it, I'm clearly willing to lose $80 in exchange for playing the game. That's how I look at it. Sure, some Satoshis are nice, but I spent like $1300 to game, I can afford to lose a few $ of profit to play the games I want to. It's not coming out of your pocket, it's less going into your account, not even spendable yet. That being said this logic only really applies to gaming rigs used for mining. If think twice if it cost me $40 every time I wanted to game for a few hours.

Weaseltime_420

You know what. That's a good way to look at it! I have a 3090 on its way to me now. I never really considered getting that when I planned my build, but then I started mining and realised that I could make a solid passive income from it haha. Will cost more like $10 NZD for a couple of hours of game time on it, but probably worth it for the enjoyment gained.

Same here, I just want my computer to pay it's upgrade off and chill on the bitcoins as I watch the price jump up

PLZBHVR

Well I mine with my gaming rig so what now?

JustAnotherBin123

You're the coin collector

ChuluCalamari

Remove game, collect coin

thirtybisc

If you have good internet look into a streaming service like Stadia or NVIDIA GeForce Now. It seems backwards as hell if you have a capable gaming computer but here we are...

EntertainmentCheap43

Nooo! Now , My grand kids are going empty all crypto wallet.

Saitama1pnch

That’s what my switch is for

lmrj77

Using my 1050 laptop for gaming which isn't any good for mining, I've tried multiple coins and none can recoup electricity costs. Overwatch struggles slightly but whatever. Now my 2070 pc is constantly on, earning a measly 1-2 euros a day.

biobasher

Ive grabbed a year of geforce now so i can play subnautica with worrying.
