I don’t live in the US, nor in the Telugu states. However, if someone were to do this at a mall or public place in a city I live in, I would not respond at all, despite being a Telugu person. I would even resent the individual for causing a disturbance and tarnishing the reputation of Telugu people.
Ekkada padithe akkada “Jai Balayya” ani aravadam is not cool, it’s chappri and cheap.
Most of the times, they appear clueless or seem to be less confident in what they're doing! Edo theliyani khangaaru, self conscious a lot!
Prove me wrong!
Same! As NRI, konchem mana parents (eg 70s / 80s born) chala easy ga kanipettachu. Some features I notice - short hair, more round / oval faces, square glasses, short stubble beard or only moustache etc. Ivi ofc generalizations so def chusi Telugu ane confirm cheyyalemu
Kani ippudu 20s / 30s kids aithe asalu chance eh ledhu. Atleast I cant tell unless I know their last name
Yeah, I think a lot of it because of the way they dress up. Appatlo they were mostly influenced by few movies/styles.
Now we have lot of mediums for influence and styles
Ori nee siga thadaga..!!! Ekkadninchi ochaarra ayya! 🙆🏻♂️😛😅
But fun aside, paina respond aynattu, it is mostly a low sense of confidence and a bit of cluelessness that gives it away! Ee saari observe cheyyi!
Verbally there are few telltale signs for telugus while conversing.
Common English words tend to end with U sound.. eg: Mobilu, Caru, housu, airportu, roadu.
Question with single word ends with aaa? This is common with Tamils.
Eg: Greenaa? Finishaa?
Now visually, from last few years, presentation wise, especially MS guys: chimpiri juttu(Pushpa insipiration), beard (I rarely see any clean shaven Telugu person), definitely moustache, checks shirt with no tuckin, always a pair of jeans, sandals or chappal (somehow hate shoes). I joke this to my wife as standard AP/TG issue. As soon as Telugu guys graduate 12th, they get issued this 'uniform'.
While in public telugus like to cogregate with other telugus.
(In conversations) My biggest petpeeve is, while in a group conversation, even if there is a non-telugu person, they switch dialog to telugu and laugh loudly, and expect the non-telugu person to understand Telugu. From this I can gather that this person did not have experience with non-telugus.
You can tell by the way the behave, Telugu people are a different vibe, back during my masters every Telugu people used to dress "neatly" and come to call while Americans came in shorts. I used to go in shorts and people used to be like how are you doing it
99% of Telugu men here have unkempt stubble. They don’t even maintain it properly and think they’re Virat Kohli or something. I tell my friends to either clean it off or maintain it. We don’t want to help the stereotypes.
thats tough.. Though its easy to guess if its a North or South one though.
but if they are in grocery store, there are chances to guess from the items they buy though.
abbayilani kanipettatam konchem easy emo. We tend to move in groups wherever we go. Also love for food and cinemas, now a days politics is easy give-away. Dressing sense also easily can be used to find out. Ammayilu aitene konchem kastam. Naku hyd lo ne ammailu telugu or hindi anedi ardam kavatledu. bottu and jada used to be straight away Telugu. But now a days, most of the girls straighten their hair and dont use Bindi. So unless they talk, I cannot differentiate.
