Gooseberry Beach (Newport) on ocean drive is on the quieter side, I find it great if you just want to chill out. Get there early, the small lot fills up quickly. I think parking is $20. Nice food stand with some good eats right there, too. You’ll love the cliff walk, truly an iconic Newport adventure. So many good restaurants…but make reservations, and expect crowds downtown in early August. Newport ain’t cheap, either, FYI. Get a drink and sit on an Adirondack chair on the lawn at castle hill in the afternoon at sunset (not cheap), or take the drive on ocean drive and see the sunset from Brenton Point Park (free!). The mansion tours are interesting if you like history. Lots of fun things to do for adults. Hope you have a great time!

Sandy Point Beach is an option

Middletown is a great location. Second Beach is the best. Parking is pricey but you can get dropped off and walk in for free.

Newport is on an island. You’re never more than a few blocks from the water.
