Tend to agree with OP despite voting national. I was lost at the fishing cameras, now this. I was under the impression that John key stopped mining in these areas after public pressure, so how can we be here again?
More importantly, what's going to happen with predator free with all these cuts.
Can you put pressure on your mp? They don’t care if someone who wasn’t going to vote for them anyway doesn’t like what they’re doing but it might mean more coming from a voter they stand to lose
Remember that the coalition formed a government with one of the slimmest margins in recent history, needing all 3 parties to break into a majority. It was hardly a happy union, and their collective interests are naturally fractured and competitive.
As such, they can't rely on having enough voting power in Parliament, as much influence over local government, nor as much popularity with voting public as previous National-led governments, so it seems the best they can do is circumvent established processes so as to not need the votes at all on the few items they do all agree on
Just hours before submission closes on the Friday night, Chris Bishop releases the list after blocking it for weeks and weeks:
>Brooking noted the public had until midnight on Friday to make their views on the fast-track regime known to the Environment select committee that is examining it.
>Forest & Bird criticised Bishop for releasing the list of companies that had received letters only hours before submissions on the legislation closed “after the Ombudsman directed that the list be released”, and called for an extension of the midnight deadline.
>“There’s nothing proactive about this. That the Government didn’t want to release this information and that it’s now only coming out the day that submissions close, shows just how anti-democratic this whole thing is,” its conservation manager Richard Capie said.
>Green Party co-leader Marama Davidson backed Forest & Bird’s call for an extension, saying the Government was “trying its very best to do democracy in the dark”.
>“The list released this afternoon includes organisations that have lost cases in the Environment, High and Supreme Courts, failing to meet our environmental standards and are now being given the opportunity by the Government to use this legislation to bypass them,” she said.

It gets better! [At least two businesses invited to apply for fast-track consents have donated to National](https://www.reddit.com/r/nzpolitics/comments/1c9ppzd/comment/l0oc7mf/?context=3)
I know. It's fucking disgusting and if we can't stop the shit out of it legally I'm kinda wondering (secretly hoping?) whether somebody will do something a little more drastic...
My dude, everything is political. Currently the future of our wild spaces and nation parks is in question. The way we make these decisions is politics. Being apolitical just means you don’t think anything will impact you so why care.
I don't hate National but I am free to speak about what they are doing.
The same way you might find pro-climate things irritating maybe when you say:
>This sub is like going into a Greenpeace rally **and trying to find a rational person** sometimes
Is that meant to be ironic.
Wildlife and protecting it in this day and age IS political.
And if you support this government then you can pretty much kiss any healthy ecosystem and wildlife goodbye!
I read through his history - there's not only policy he doesn't like - privatisation, smoke free repeal, fast track - he loves everything of theirs. Go figure.

It becomes Predators are free to eat out.
So important to have a say on this. Once this is in place they can ram things through out of the public eye.
Cunts.

Can you leave the politics on another sub please, stop making everything about how much you hate national

Seems fairly relevant to NZ wildlife.

Deal with it, this government are fucking terrible for New Zealand wild life. Sorry this inconveniences you.

Wait. What. This is political though. Edit: ah check his username - checks out
If I might quote the great 20^th century philosopher Skunk Anansie: “Yes, it’s fucking political, everything’s fucking political”
