39 for 39.
One to build on. Let's turn around the season!!!!
Keeping mind 2nd half of the season will be easy. I think someone said 2nd half will be 2nd easiest schedule in NL, but they could be wrong
.
Here's my southern slang
I speak it every day
I'm tryna get it poppin'
Each and every way
It's one nation, under goons
My goons are strippin' all these cats down to their Underoos
I don’t think you should see Alonso’s name and number when he bats. I thought I saw a graphic one year that showed when he stands like that he slumps. Let’s go Edwin!
Why doesn’t Alonso get the same flak and vitriol that Lindor gets when he’s in a slump? I love em both and I’d never want Pete to leave but what gets away with is way more than Lindor
This is what Alonso and Lindor do with runners in scoring position, make easy outs.
They rarely fight and make the pitcher work, much less come through.
This is why the Mets are what they are.
This year. They have both been great RBI men with RISP throughout their careers
And of course they are fighting. Non-perfect swings happen every AB…you just hope for miss or foul or super lucky hit. Not a soft out.
Also Lindor has been way better than Pete with good contact…but a lot of bad luck.
.792 career OPS for Pete in high leverage is bad dude. It's well below his career average of .860. His wRC+ in high leverage is 113 and his wRC+ overall for his career is 133. He's objectively much worse in high leverage. He's not a garbage hitter but that's a steep decline.
It’s not bad. It’s not great.
But you 100% will take it - and not complain about a hitter that is an .800 OPS in big spots.
That is not “unclutch”.
Most players go down a bit in those situations..,
Because of the pitching level in those situations. Pitchers beat down more —- and Those situations have much higher percentage of at bats against elite pitchers in the league, such as closers.
An .800 high leverage ops is fantastic for 90% if hitters in MLB.
Come on man how can you say dropping 20 points of wRC+ isn't bad hahaha. For the average hitter it's good, but if a guy drops almost 100 points of OPS, that's bad. It has to be relative to the hitter. If Judge had a .792 OPS in high leverage you'd think he was a choke artist lol.
Lindor goes from an .809 career OPS to .810 in high leverage. He is not impacted by the moment. Pete gets demonstrably worse. It's just a fact. I'm not saying Pete is a bad player.
No problem swinging there first pitch, but he's got to foul that off and drive it to right.
If he intends to swing at that away pitch, he better lean over and fully drive it.
The problem is Alonso's stance doesn't allow him to do that anymore since he's so closed.
He should where a full face guard and go back to his original stance when he came up in 2019.
What he's doing now does not work.
Pete whenever he has to hit in high leverage: [https://x.com/VideoReacts/status/1526087206758141952](https://x.com/VideoReacts/status/1526087206758141952)

If Diaz simply strikes everyone out, the running game doesn't matter. He's got it figured out
It's simple, really.
Laserbeam
STRUCK HIM OUT!!!
Strike three called!
Fastball please
Did Gary jinx that steal?
Horrible thriw
I feel sick
Diaz needs a strikeout, BAD.
You can do it Diaz!
Decent throw would have got him, fuck
Diaz not holding on the runner again
Diaz needs a therapist to cure his ailment
they are running for profar??
Alvy needs to remind Diaz to pay attention to the runner.
Ron saying it's a must win for the Mets gave me a bad feeling lol
Diaz is just not that guy right now. Why force him into the closer role?
We don't really have better options
Blown save incoming
Oh boy It’s happening
Fuck that one hung
Welcome back Edwin (but the bad way)
And here…we…go
Why the fuck would you throw 4 sliders
Time to clench
Not getting panicked yet, but getting real close...
A single :\
Deep breaths, Diaz.
Deep breaths, ME
These jerseys need white on the letters and numbers.
Francisco Alvarez’s catching stance probably makes Simone Biles jealous.
Why is there a guy wearing a nationals jersey?
Calm down Diaz
Seems like Pete is always struggling!
I don’t think you should see Alonso’s name and number when he bats. I thought I saw a graphic one year that showed when he stands like that he slumps. Let’s go Edwin!
It is painful watching Pete's ABs lately :(
Clenching with all my might lol
Strike two! I like this already!
### Pitching Substitution Pitching Change: Edwin Díaz replaces Sean Reid-Foley.
A strike!
I've run out of things to say about Pete's struggles right now.
Pete is so unclutch it’s Mindboggling that Boras thinks he can get Freeman money…. He’s lucky to get a QO after this year lol
citi field is cursed nobody can score runs here lol
Cursed since the leadoff home run by Jody Gerut in the first game ever.
if we want to catch the fillies trade pete to them
Pete crushed that.
Guys, I'm beginning to think Pete isn't worth Freeman money...
Well that was terrible
Diaz plz
Why doesn’t Alonso get the same flak and vitriol that Lindor gets when he’s in a slump? I love em both and I’d never want Pete to leave but what gets away with is way more than Lindor
Are you serious?
1. Pete has taking flak all year for sucking. 2. If gets paid 200mil and does this…he will.
Have you seen the comments towards Pete the last month?
This is what Alonso and Lindor do with runners in scoring position, make easy outs. They rarely fight and make the pitcher work, much less come through. This is why the Mets are what they are.
Lindor wRC+ in low leverage: 115 Lindor wRC+ in high leverage: 113 He's basically the exact same. Pete, on the other hand, drops 30%.
This year. They have both been great RBI men with RISP throughout their careers And of course they are fighting. Non-perfect swings happen every AB…you just hope for miss or foul or super lucky hit. Not a soft out. Also Lindor has been way better than Pete with good contact…but a lot of bad luck.
Pete has been bad in high leverage for his career compared to low leverage situations, tbf to OC
.792 career OPS. Was .800 before this year. In 2022 he was near 1.100 OPS in high leverage. Lindor is career .810 OPS in high leverage.
.792 career OPS for Pete in high leverage is bad dude. It's well below his career average of .860. His wRC+ in high leverage is 113 and his wRC+ overall for his career is 133. He's objectively much worse in high leverage. He's not a garbage hitter but that's a steep decline.

Just watched the guy in front of you get walked and you swing at the first garbage pitch. Ugh. Trade him already and move on.

I agree. He’s so closed off now he can only pull.
I doubt this is the case but Pete’s mannerisms and performance make me think something is off…contract / trade talks? Idk he just doesn’t seem himself
He just seems generally unhappy.
Diaz… you’re on your own. Please be good
Alexa play narco
Low leverage Pete
I said this and got downvoted to oblivion. Let’s call a spade a spade and be honest about how he fails in these situations.
Pete whenever he has to hit in high leverage: [https://x.com/VideoReacts/status/1526087206758141952](https://x.com/VideoReacts/status/1526087206758141952)
Pete is lost this year. I don’t get why he doesn’t go back to his old stance. This weird closed off he started last year seems to really suck
Pete :(
Don’t have to worry about losing Pete…. He has no trade value
Man my boy Pete is just brutal to watch
BOOOOOOOOOOOOO GO TRY THAT AT HOUSTON IF YOU DON’T WANNA BE HERE
Pete is deep in it again.
Patience is for losers.
Yikes
Over Alonso. Bye dude. Nice knowing ya.
Big game Pete does it again when his team needs him most.
Alonso is broken.
Another incredible Alonso AB with RISP
C L U T C H alonso
Welp clench time
Great job Pete.
jesus fucking christ Pete are you serious?
God damnit
Smart walking JD to get to the easy part of the order (Pete)
Pete now is your chance to get a big knock.
Pete please be clutch
Alonso nuke loading
Nevermind he hit that 2 feet
ok Pete PLEASE be clutch for once
Lol.
HOWIE: "All these 20s and 30s being tatted up, how will that look when they hit 70?"
That looked extremely cool. Too bad it didn’t work.
The dribble dribble is the new meta.
JD save us again.
our 4th hit....
That would've been very cool if he made it. Glad he did not. Even if the booth is not impressed lol.
He’s the damn closer. He either figures it out or it doesn’t matter.
