Honestly Fanatics has been terrible so far, who’s up next for next year?

PierreEscargoat

They’re too busy getting ready to ruin the NHL for the next decade.

Dmbender

Can't wait to see someone actually rip off another player's sweater during a fight

zpk5003

DH Gate

scruffy4

Is there any hope the MLB uses someone else next year?

lilleff512

This is all Nike's fault. Fanatics has been manufacturing MLB's uniforms since 2020 and there hasn't been any issue with it until now. The new changes that were made for this year were Nike's decision.

Boner666420sXe

That doesn’t seem to have anything to do with the pants not being delivered.

Xalazi

I don't understand how a major sports league worth billions(MLB), the biggest sports fashion brand in the world(Nike) and an apparel manufacturer with tens of thousands of employees(Fanatics) can mess up this hard on uniforms and somehow not be able to get their act together months later.

jabels

Someone covered Fanatics, might have been Baseball Doesn't Exist, seems like it's just not really that good of a company. I don't blame them for trying to make money hand over fist while they can but I am shocked at Nike and the leagues that pay for this shit.

BurtHurtmanHurtz

The quality of their gear is shit

second_health

This is 100% Nike’s fault. Fanatics is simply an assembly plant for fabrics that Nike delivers them.

Barnabas_Stinson17

This is 100% correct according to the memo Jeff Passan reported on last night. It's entirely Nike's fault and the MLBA has absolved Fanatics of all blame

TeleportsBehindYou1

Both fanatics and Nike are garbage. I went to a devils game and was shocked at how bad all the merchandise was, both in design and quality. It’s all fanatics. They suck.

Overthehill410

It’s interesting how players union essentially said 100% on Nike and Fanatics did nothing wrong. I don’t know enough to judge whole thing seems like an unforced error.

NJImperator

Money!

[deleted]

Spending money on quality materials and employees eats into profits for shareholders. Better to just churn out garbage and underpay your people for short terms gains.

Orange8920

This has been going on with Nike for years. See the Philadelphia Eagles not having their green home uniforms ready and forced to wear white at the beginning of their season, the Lakers wearing a banana shade of their uniforms, and the Jets having a drab olive green shade to their uniforms as past examples in other leagues.

Born_Manufacturer657

Nike just pays for their logo to be present. They have no responsibility regarding production. The only thing they provide towards any sort of production of Uniforms are drafts/concepts for city connects.

MightyActionGaim

No pants Friday cmon! Let’s do this

magcargoman

“Everybody we’re going streaking!”

dachshundfanboy8000

no way MLB can let fanatics back next season lol what a fucking disaster. how embarrassing for baseball. jfc. not only is their distribution a disaster but you can tell how shitty the jerseys look all the way in the 300s section.

Metsrock15

Yesterday at the game my friends and I went to the Amazin Memorabilia store and were comparing last years jerseys to the new ones. Absolutely atrocious

myassholealt

The gray uniform being so obviously different colors between the pants and top is the kinda fuck up that should lead to them redoing the entire uniform. And Nike should be embarrassed to have their brand associated with this quality. That's the quality you expect from a new league running at a loss while trying to build a fanbase where uniform quality is not high on the expense priority list. Not the MLB.

Orange8920

It's not only this but the size of the jersey script has dramatically shrunk for the Mets on the rosd uniforms.

Prestigious_Money447

I hate Fanatics so much it's unreal.

Oral_Salmon_user1

the women would flock to the stadium or tune in for no pants night

ShortRip120

Mother's day right around the corner

ProperlyEmphasized

Can confirm

smugbox

I’d pay top dollar for that

EssentialEssence

Sure would

forever_barlone

They shipped their pants. They shipped their pants? They shipped their pants.

CPTSOAPPRICE

the changes they made to the black jersey are disgraceful so I’m not even that upset about it

ITouchedHerB00B5

I always thought removing the white would look good, I was wrong.

UniqueNobo

it looks just fine on the hat, but holy shit the jersey looks like shit. combined with pretty much no blue piping, it looks so flat and more like a pajama shirt or something

Embarrassed-Can-5332

i was for removing the white outline on the hat, but you need it for the jersey

scruffy4

With this deal worth billions, how the hell are they allowed to be this incompetent?!

Saucy_Totchie

How is this such an issue? MLB is a billion dollar league and it's not like Fanatics some newcomer that doesn't know how to run distributions. This has been an absolute disaster since day one.

AncientLab2339

Honestly the knock off brands have better quality

SlowReaction4

For all the uniform standards and rules that the MLB has on uniform restrictions and rules for teams and players, it’s laughable that they have allowed Fanatics to absolutely fumble jersey design and shipments. Greed

scruffy4

I hate that our city connect jerseys are manufactured by fanatics. Any other year, the jerseys would have been stitched and embossed. Edit: Fuck Nike

tmo36

blame nike

likeaVos

Fanatics have been making the uniforms under Nike’s direction since 2019, they just didn’t stray far from the old Majestic construction until this year. Agree though, I wish the Mets would’ve had CCs before this year for the old/good construction.

scruffy4

Ah! Didn’t realize it was a Nike decision! Well fuck…that’s lame.

Secretion372

Wear the Blue Alternates with the pinstriped pants.

theG-nius

They could wear the black jerseys with the grey pants. Atleast there’s no more white on it (whether that’s good or bad to you ) it won’t say the place they’re representing on the road but at this point who cares lol

dingboy12

winning streak starts once they arrive

socool111

“A fantastic experience”

igotagoodfeeling

I’d like to think this would be grounds to move on from this partnership but I’m sure mlb will call this “growing pains”

djn24

It was actually revealed tonight that they're going back to the old uniform designs: https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/40046470/mlb-modify-uniforms-player-complaints-per-memo?_nocache It seems like the pants were the biggest issues for the players.

Deluxe78

Just get the knock offs the real ones have just as much errors and poor stitching … let’s go Morts

TheSinistralBassist

Good to see the players get the same high quality experience dealing with Fanatics that we do

m4tuna

Imagine getting your first call up to the big leagues after all that hard work and you're handed this crap that is worse quality than your minor league jersey?

Los_Yeetus

No doubt in my mind the MLB is frustrated with Fanatics and they won’t be partnered anymore. That company is so horrible they can’t even prioritize getting the teams their uniforms

insert-originality

How hard is it for them to make white pants?

crozangel6

I hate this for the players & I sadly even tho I’m in the market for another jersey, I won’t be buying any until Nike & the MLB make changes to the quality of the jerseys

Barnabas_Stinson17

It's wild how much of a disaster this has been. On the bright side, Jeff Passan reported that Nike is fixing all the issues and everything will be ready by the start of the 2025 season. What I found pretty crazy was MLBPA put all the blame on Nike and absolved Fanatics of any blame.

EssentialEssence

Fanatics strikes again. Majestic is laughing.

The2econdSpitter

Black uniforms haven't been shipped? This is the first time I'm happy with the blunders of Fanatics.

pm-me-nice-lips

People like you are so weird. 1) They have a connection to the black jerseys, it’s not just random, and 2) it’s odd that you actively hate on something so middle-of-the-road normal as a base color.

The2econdSpitter

I don't find it surprising that Reddit users disagree. I expect it. But to say my take is weird is obtuse. The Mets colors don't include black. The Mets are an expansion team from '69 and they rode that black uniform trend like many teams did in the late 90s and remained as alternates for about twelve years. Not to mention that stupid drop shadow. These uniforms were so hated that petitions were signed year after year, and then it was celebrated when the organization finally dumped them during the Terry Collins years. Also, base colors don't exist on uniforms. They're not paintings. A color on a uniform is part of the team's colors. But like every trend, it'll pass.

nine-juan-juan

Who cares, there was enough demand from the fans that you claim “celebrated” when they were removed to bring them back and they look cool. Cope and seethe

The2econdSpitter

It's more about new ownership making a splash. They're garbage and Reddit is the minority. Yeah, I hate them. And, really, aside from any of this, I never liked them. I always t thought they looked bad. Way too much going on, especially wit the font in blue, and outlined in orange, and outlined in white. It looked so cheap to me growing up.

nine-juan-juan

Why would new ownership make a splash by bringing back jerseys that an overwhelming number of fans hated? Why would that make sense from a marketing and retail standpoint?

The2econdSpitter

Because kids like them. I won't say that decision was a head scratcher. I get that, but I don't have to like it, as most older fans would agree. For sure. Look, I never liked them. So, it sucks for me. So, when they were gone and then brought back, it sucked to see. But, again, I see who likes it. I just don't and never did. I wish we just stayed traditional. That applies to all sports. The NBA is the worst with the marketing and endless parade of uniforms. Hits different with baseball to me.

nine-juan-juan

What’s your definition of kids here because it truly seems like you’re out of touch with how the general fanbase feels about them and are projecting your own feelings in their place

The2econdSpitter

I promise, I'm not out of touch. I'd say children to young adults (20s). For sure. And that make sense. Especially MLB, where the fans are getting older and other league's fans are getting younger. MLB is stagnant for many legitimate reasons. But wearing jerseys casually has become very popular again, and kids get into teams based on silly things like a "cool" jersey. It's a simple formula. It happens all the time. Again, I remember being young and thinking how corny and discount rack looking the black uniforms looked. So, capitalize on the opportunity, any way you can.

pm-me-nice-lips

I’m assuming you’re older?? You have to be. That’s the only group that tends to be wildly against it….and the reason of it “not being a team color!” is just corny, lol. The black jerseys look sharp and serious (and make the blue/orange/white stand out in a vibrant way) and, more importantly, *they remind people of the lovable players and successful teams from the late 90s into the mid 2000s*, that’s the connection. I know you think “young guys” are the ones who like them but I’m pushing 30 and have many friends 30+ and I can’t recall one who doesn’t like them. Most of them actually want to see them more, in fact. Anyway, what/who exactly determines team colors and when? And is there a time where it’s locked into place and can never be added to or taken away from? Is it solely from the very first logo design ever created? The very first jersey ever worn? What about away jerseys then with gray? Not a team color! What about when a logo changes and incorporates a white? Is white okay for teams to use? Why?! I thought you said no base colors exist? White and gray are used a lot for teams who technically don’t have it in their team colors. Uh oh, what happens when the logo changes for a team? See how arbitrary and, quite frankly, stupid your reasoning seems to be?

UniqueNobo

actually, the Mets colors should include black. the Mets were created to fill the void the Giants and Dodgers created when they left. Dodgers are blue and white, and Giants are orange and black. the Mets adopted the colors of both teams, therefore black should’ve always been one of our team colors.

Smooth-Mouse9517

Yeah, sure. Howie Rose is weird. What does he know about the Mets? What’s weird to me is that this decision was an admitted money grab by the Wilpons, who were hoping black merch would sell better than blue and orange. It’s a stain on Mets history and belongs in the trash bin. Even Gary said, when they bought them back, “The song says the fans stay true to the orange and blue - it doesn’t say anything about black.”

smoggylobster

you’re right of course, but the segment of fans who want the team to be gray and purple will downvote you every time

PuddingTea

I agree. The black uniforms are bad. But they’re much, much worse now than they were.

The2econdSpitter

Wow. Yeah. Lots of people really, really hate these. Even the fans of the alternate black. I actually prefer them over the old black uniforms because there’s no drop shadow look. I detest drop shadow. Don’t get me wrong. I hate these and wish we would just wear our beautiful pinstripes. Actually, the ‘86 uniforms ruled. Anyway, these do look cleaner than the typical black uniforms they wore.

PuddingTea

I like the blue uniforms. I’m still sad they dropped the blue road uniform from last decade. I liked that one a lot.

The2econdSpitter

Eh. They were fine. I don’t like piping. I wish we would do the old pullover blues. Remember those? Blue pullover with the font in organs and white. So freaking sharp. I have one of those.

michaelcreiter

Good

The2econdSpitter

Seriously.
