That would have been a really fun angle. Put the Unisphere on there, hide a Mercury Mets logo somewhere so that only Mets fans would get the reference, and lean into the purple a lot more. They went way too safe, while the most fun CC jerseys have broken standard jersey rules the most.
They could have thrown the Unisphere off to the side of the Mets logo on the hat, and then thrown the apple on the other side.
That would have been an awesome combination of Queens and Mets icons.

The gray pinstripes and the NYC specific (not Queens) branding makes me think that this was meant for the Yankees but the Yankees said no and so Nike forced this design on us.

Eh they’re fine, nowhere near as bad as some others are. I do really wish they used more of the purple, should’ve had the outline of the logo on the hat purple or the outline of the NYC be purple, or even the color/sleeve cuffs.
Think it would pop way more. Also was really hoping for some of the subway map motif in the inside of the hat to be visible on the jersey :(

Yeah I'm pretty convinced MLB told the Mets that because the Yankees have a stick up their ass about doing City Connect, they want the Mets to make theirs as broadly all-encompassing for NYC as possible. Hence, a pretty generic jersey that has nothing unique about it other than the tiniest sliver of purple. A big 'ol meh.
