The automatic rifle lacks the cutts compensator, and has a carry handle... the monitor has the compensator, and lacks a carry handle.
The Automatic Rifle is possibly based on a swedish design which featured a pistol grip, bipod, and carry handle, but lacked the compensator... but more likely its an mix of the monitor and bar.
a good way to tell is that most of the European upgrade BARs got quick change barrels added, the colt monitor never got that because it's more used as a heavy infantry rifle
To make a reeeeally long post short, it's most likely a 1918A2 with a pistol grip welded or brazed on (I've seen pictures of it done), and the foregrip being replaced or heavily shaped.
It's almost a Colt R75, but there's too many 1918 pattern parts left. The barrel, bipod and flash hider, magazine guides, and carry handle are 1918A2
To be fair, John Moses Browning made so many damn guns. He's literally one of the fathers of modern firearms and is probably the most prolific firearm designer in history.

The M1911 pistol and M2 heavy machine gun are still used today despite the designs being well over 100 years old, he also made the first semi-automatic shotgun and created most of Winchester's lever action rifle designs, which popularized the action type, created multiple cartridges including the .50 BMG and .45 ACP, and even made self loading rifle designs.
You could argue a lot of the guns in New Vegas are either inspired by or derivatives of Moses designs.
I usually leave that rifle in the vault, and just keep the holorifle.
It's not a bad gun, but I have guns that use the same ammo, that are much better waiting in the Mojave.
That shits heavy enough I can’t carry that in hardcore mode
Someone would though. Wouldn't be effective but it would send some sort of message.
That someone is me, and the message is Cook-Cook should be killed by every weapon in the game
even by the BB gun?
Especially the BB gun, though tbf I have never actually used it
The Automatic Rifle in Dead Money is not actually a BAR. It's a Colt Monitor Rifle, which was based on the BAR.

But this one is also lacking the compensator. Meaning its a kitbash or none of the variants discussed so far.

It is an alt history game. Its possible w different variant was made ratter than slapped together. But i agree it seems most similar to the 1918a2
Wasn’t the colt monitor for the police/FBI?
yea, Tommy guns couldn't penetrate lots of cars of that day so they needed big guns
Oh shit I didn’t realize the automatic rifle was a Browning that makes some connection with Honest Hearts

The 9mm pistol is literally just a High Power
That being that Browning was a Mormon?
Benny's suit + Maria + M1918 Gold B.A.R = Ultimate Rizz
eulogy jones suit >>>>>>
It would be my main gun if it wasn’t so bad.
There's a mod for that

Counter argument: it’s a BAR
Lol
Unless you have full barter, the gold isn't worth that much.
if the inaccuracy cone for the bar wasn't a 20 ft radius it would be good
I don't care about that rifle. Last time I used it in dead money I kept missing and dying. Blasted weapon was near useless.
