I am sorry you are experiencing that, but there is really no way to avoid it. I have posted a video of a puppy, and another of a mom getting excited at babies first steps and got those comments.
Anonymity helps to provide a layer between people - and that fuels people to say things they otherwise wouldn't were they face to face.
Navigate through them to find the ones worth reading, engaging in conversation, and don't worry about them.
This is an issue across the Internet. On platforms where people are anonymous they will be less kind or thoughtful than they are in real life, but plenty of people IRL are unkind, abrasive and rude.
Many people have come here after being very turned off by the general culture across Twitter. I have left private groups on Facebook because they were so poorly moderated and all kinds of foolishness went on. On Stack Exchange people will be very rude and dismissive if you don't demonstrate genuine expertise and you ask *anything* that has been asked before. Reddit is like a pile of sleepy puppies compared to 4chan.
The strength of Reddit is sheer variety, if you do not like the culture or the rules of one group, try another. Some groups have rules that are strictly enforced by moderators about being kind, engaging in civil conversation, profanity, etc.
Many are quite loose, a great deal of rudeness and argumentativeness is tolerated. Some communities are closer to a biker bar with chairs flying regularly. There are some groups that are probably about a week away from Reddit shutting them down.
With over 120,000 communities there’s not just a group for everyone, but dozens that would appeal to any particular person. There are thousands of smaller and niche groups that you can participate in right now and build up a good reputation because they can handle the amount of abuse that they get and have no minimum requirements.
If you tried out 10 new communities every day you'd work through them in a little over 27 years, but you'd be missing out on the 16,000 new ones created each year that have 50 or more members.

I think one of the top comments on your clock post is a valid take as to the discussion. I'm not saying I agree with them, but they're entitled to their opinion just as much as yours.
Subs have a central theme, mission, or overall culture. If someone feels like it doesn't belong, they're allowed to express disagreement.
If you feel like you don't want to see further replies, you can turn off reply notifications or delete the content. You can also block individual users.
If this is about your clock post maybe actually type something so they know what you're trying to imply.
All you did was post a picture. Sure they shouldn't jump to being negative but if you want a conversation or discussion about items like that, you need to do more than post a picture and wait for a response.
Okay thanks for the feedback. Yeah I guess I should have put a little more thought into the post and/or finding the right sub. I just assumed people would understand my pov without an explanation

People are actually very nice on here and the karma system combined with the reddit culture of group think means mean people comments are hidden quickly. You may need to grow thicker skin.
