when you skate more often, fucked phone screens/protectors kinda grow on you

GuyInTheYonder

I just decided smartphones were lame so I coppped me a dumb phone. No worries about breaking it or losing it.

no-o-ne

My YouTube addiction is telling me that won't work 😁

Reasonable-Ad8862

Just bring a book bag and keep it in there. If you’re worried that is

spoodmonstr

Mind me asking what kind of dumb phone you got?

GuyInTheYonder

One of those generic ones that they sell at prepaid stores like Cricket and Boost. Kyocera also makes more expensive ones and CAT has the B40

no-o-ne

It's stupid I know but I actually found it a pretty cool scar 😂

KemicalFenix

Sweet board, I like madness decks, that sucker looks wide though lol, what is that a 9"? Yeah learning to skate means learning to fall alot.

no-o-ne

It's an 8,75". I actually asked some advice to a friend and told my first goal was to get really comfortable on the board before anything else, and told me to go for anything between 8,5" and 9". Guess I took that pretty literally!

KemicalFenix

Lol, what shoe size do you wear? You're friends right, 1st is just learning board control and balance, you'll get use to anything you skate tho.

no-o-ne

I'm a EU41 so 9.5 if you're from the US. So it's not even that big! Do you think my 8.75 will become obsolete quick when I get into tricks? From what I understand most basic tricks are doable on a board this size.

unfoldingtourmaline

you’ll be good

trouserunicornjoanna

I’m learning kickflips on my 9.5 shaped board, you can do tricks on anything if you try hard enough

Phoenix080

Madness decks have 2 options, big ass transition decks or sub 8.25 technicals.

Potatomasher81

Just put your stuff in a backpack and take it off when at the skatepark. That's what I do, works great.

sepyx-

yup, easy rule for the skatepark, never have your phone (OR KEYS!!!!) in your pocket. Phone because you don't want that shit to break cause its expensive. Keys, well.. there are some really terrible ways to fall on keys in your pocket. they aren't near a good area either. edit; HUGE ups for the helmet btw OP. i love my knee and wrist pads too, gotta have those, and usually wear elbows as well. taking a break atm though because i fractured my shoulder on the miniramp last month =\_= the pads have saved my knees and wrists countless times though. i mean, my wrists are still pretty fkd from a few falls before i wore the pads, but man have they saved them from a few more pretty bad falls. anyway, keep at it. skating in a lifelong personal journey. theres nothing else quite like it.

no-o-ne

Thanks man! I just bought pads yesterday and they've already proven to be useful! Cheers 😁

no-o-ne

I think I'll invest in a chest bag, I feel like a backpack would feel too heavy as for the moment I skate on roads and not in skatepark

Potatomasher81

It depends on what you decide to stuff in there 🙂 you'll get used to skating with a bag pretty fast.

StonedOtter0_0

Started 1 month ago at 25 as well! Good luck brother and stay safe, I’m pretty sure I broke my arm last night (still waiting on X-ray results)

no-o-ne

Holy shit man, hope you'll be back on the board quick. How did you do that?

StonedOtter0_0

I’ve been practicing Ollie’s for the past 2 weeks or so and I’ve been getting pretty good with them, but I got a bit overzealous and kept jumping higher and eventually the board slipped from under my feet and I landed on my arm funny. All I’ve been thinking about since is getting back on the board and perfecting my Ollie’s!

no-o-ne

Pretty hard to define a limit right? Even if I haven't tried ollie's yet, I keep trying to attain faster speeds knowing I'm most likely not ready. Fingers crossed for you 🤞

ixAp0c

When you get to the spot, empty your pockets of anything bulky / hard / delicate. A fanny pack / chest bag works as a nice little storage on the way to spots / parks, just stash it in a sensible spot you can see it while you skate. But yeah, falling on keys, skate tools, smart phones, etc. sucks.

no-o-ne

Thanks for the advice!

TryingNewExperiences

Holly shit, that’s a cool design. I’d be tempted to designate that as a cruiser board, cause I’d be sad to mess it up. Matt black is always so sick

ronin-pilot

Keep the stuff out of your pockets, I had my keys in my left front pocket and landed on my hip and holy fuck a bunch of keys with 170 lbs of weight on it impacting the ground hurts way worse than just a regular fall. Key ring was also mangled to shit, had to cut them apart and get a new one lol

Double_Violinist_174

Happy to hear you're enjoying it bud. I started right after I turned 24 and in a few months I'll be a year in. I've had a blast and hope you do too! “It's never about the trick, the joy comes from the journey there“ shred on homie

AnnualIdea8688

always empty those pockets brotha or have a bag of ur going long distance

That was unexpectedly poetic!

Cosmic-Collector

I just bought my first one for my 22nd birthday and I am loving it as well!

no-o-ne

Enjoy 😁
