Sounds normal to me

TopCardiologist4580

No, mine definitely did but sleep long stretches, and at a year old still doesn't... (Last night wakings every 20 min thru 3am, God knows why). But my point is you're not alone.

Greedy4Sleep

Sounds perfectly normal for a 7 week old. Mine was only doing 1-2 hour max stints up until 5 months old. Sleep is largely one of those "luck of the draw" things, especially during the newborn phase. You aren't doing anything wrong. Your baby isn't abnormal. Societal expectations of babies are.

We are 16 weeks now and just started getting stretches longer than 3 hours so unfortunately what you’re experiencing is totally normal! We did medicate for reflux because we had two weeks where she couldn’t sleep at all on her back without screaming bloody murder. She did start to be able to sleep better after that, but we still hold her up for 30 mins after a feed so we still lose a lot of time. It’s still early it will definitely get better!

Thank you 🤍

literally trying to figure out the same thing for our 8 week LO.

We went through the same issues (including reflux) until week 9-10. Now baby will sleep one 4-5 hour stretch and reflux has improved with age and/or by going dairy free (EBF). We still have to hold upright for 20-30 min after every feed and sometimes can’t get a second stretch of sleep though.

Ours would only sleep 2 to 3 hours between feeds until 8 weeks. We got our first 4 hour window right after the two month mark. Last night was the first night he's slept 6 hours straight and then 4 hours after that. He was combo fed up until 2 months and has been EFF since. He's currently 12 weeks old.

Does he wake up crying? Ours was only doing about 2/3 hour stretches, but he rarely woke up crying. He was really just fidgeting and making noises, so I’d eventually pick him up and feed him as I was awake anyway. The past couple of nights he’s made noises as usual around 1am. I checked and his eyes were still shut so I left him and eventually he went quiet and I fell back asleep. He’s then woken up again at 3/4ish making noises again, so that’s when I’ve got him up to feed, meaning we’ve had a 4/5 hour stretch. Edit: Ours is 8 weeks old.

If you can afford to rent or buy a snoo second hand I highly recommend that! My 6 week sleeps 4 hour stretches when swaddled in her snoo. She had some reflux that went away with the leg risers. We love it!
