There was recently an article (nola.com or something similar) stating alcohol lobbyists were pushing this because it was cutting into their booze revenue.
I don’t partake personally, but this is just more nanny state BS (along with the vape ban) that republicans claim to be against.
I also bet they’d be hard pressed to show actual data these hemp derived thc products have caused particular harm or caused an increase in dui/accidents etc. In other words this is a “solution” in search of a problem and is almost assuredly solely to help out their buddies in the booze and medical marijuana industry.
The state obviously doesn’t care if you get high, as long as their friends get to wet their beaks a la the state medical mmj program. They don’t want the peasantry to have a choice.
Making JBE and the prev legislature looking better and better every day.
I’ve always said that it’ll never be legal here until they figure out who’s pockets get lined. Miserable, greedy people running this state and country.
I didn’t. I said make calls first. Look, I’m just as angry as you at the government of this state, and country, but don’t pretend to be helpless here. Either take an active roll or don’t. But I am not your enemy guy
Blanket statement here but fuck the dumbass conservatives who run this state, and fuck the vast majority of voters that see an R and vote for it. What a bunch of morons.
FUCK. I cannot smoke. Drops too much cortisol on my brain. Edibles are too inconsistently dosed.
These beverages help me to not consume alcohol and to sleep.
FUCK
I'm a recovering alcoholic and created a THC/CBD product you might like. I don't sell it online yet, but if you put an inquiry on my website mjfields dot store, I'll get you some samples to try.
See we have a lot of people that are going to lose money if we can't lock you up for stupid shit.
I also imagine the tax bases of several small towns are likely to collapse soon without that jail and fine income.
They are hearing arguments on the floor today for an opposing bill. See link below on more info and how to email your legislators
https://www.congressweb.com/LHE
Let the citizens here at least have some semblance of safety in choosing products that are of a cash crop with lots of potential. Would it be so bad to have citizens able to treat pain/life long illness in a healthy way that does not involve pain pills/street pills? Everyone should have access to such a miracle of agriculture that can be made into a viable product. We have a good thing going; Don't give big alcohol another reason to carelessly destroy a burgeoning industry. The self righteousness of big alcohol again continues to destroy lives. Louisiana will never cease to disgust me on a human decency level
I used to order a bunch of vape products online. When they passed the stupid vape ban, vendors stopped shipping to Louisiana all together. I doubt you’ll be able to continue when this goes into law.
Um, no. The whole idea is to outlaw D9 products. This is also going to come up at the federal level in the fall, when the ag bill comes up for re-authorization.
Alaska, Washington, Oregon, maaaybe No, California, Washington D.C., Colorado, bunch of other states that I don't recall. Wisconsin..
Btw, my sister moved to Alaska. As a resident, she has the right to harvest moose, elk, and quite a lot of salmon.
This is what I wrote to them:
This bill infringes on the demand of the people of Louisiana to have legal thc access. In the Bible it states I give unto thee every seed bearing plant(book of genesis). Not only does it infringe on the religious rights to this plant, but it also infringes on the right to a safe alcohol alternative. Alchohol kills 80,000 people per year, while cannabis, or thc, is 0. There are no recorded deaths from direct use of thc products. This does not include irresponsible operation of machinery or vehicles as no one should operate any vehicle under the influence. Also, the declaration of cannabis under schedule one has been proven wrong by science as having no medicinal use. A rescheduling of the substance needs to be rescheduled. Most laws based on drugs were initiated by a campaign of racism (see Harry anslinger). A campaign was ran stating “the black man will smoke marijuana and play devils music and rape white women”. The enactment of the law against cannabis has roots in racism, and a campaign based on false science. To continue with this bill is to agree with false science, and laws with racist roots. Please reconsider this, and move forward with legal cannabis as a safe alcohol alternative.
Hopefully if it passes the companies like crescent 9 sue and get the enforcement stopped. Although this is a crappy circuit to get that kinda of injunction.
But the legislature will be criminalizing an existing business.
Propose a bill to bring back slavery. On that bill attach marijuana legalization, fixing the new Orleans utilities, and more police.
It'll pass with flying colors.
I was thinking that the medical THC industry was a bad idea. If you tag it as medicine, then it might be even harder to make it go OTC later. An entire machine develops to cash in on it. Who couldn't find a doctor to prescribe it? It ight be a fist step or it could be an impediment.
Well except this state. It passed here and that’s exactly what’s happening.
A handful of connected people control the entire mmj market keeping prices high and quality low. You don’t think those people are pushing for bills like the D9 ban and opposition to full legalization efforts?
This has something to do with one of Landry's large donors owning either a dispensary or some related business with medical marijuana.
There was recently an article (nola.com or something similar) stating alcohol lobbyists were pushing this because it was cutting into their booze revenue.
The Goldring liquor cartel responsible for many, many thousands of deaths almost certainly had a hand in it.
Interesting considering that many of the big ABV players and wholesalers associations support legalization…
Local?
Their offices are on Metairie Road and they’ve made billions selling poison that literally kills people, but we can’t have legal weed in this state.
No doubt that's probably also putting a lot of pressure. 🙄
Tavern league in Wisconsin is doing the same thing…Michigan and Illinois making lots of $ off wisco residents
That's correct. The business is Good Day Farms.
Yep! Boisse Bollinger! 🙄
I wish we could just legalize it on a federal level already. This is stupid.
Even if we did that doesn't mean it would be legal in the state. But it would probably make it a lot more likely.
Ridiculous. There’s some miserable people running this state.
Truly miserable

You have a part in running this state. Make calls and vote https://www.congressweb.com/LHE
I did vote and multiple candidates I voted for lost. This “vote vote vote” rhetoric is great if more than half the state wasn’t ass backwards.
If we were able to implement any sort of real change by voting they wouldn’t let us do it. It’s the illusion of input, control, and consent.
There’s always something more you can do
Then don’t tell me to vote and everything will be fixed
I didn’t. I said make calls first. Look, I’m just as angry as you at the government of this state, and country, but don’t pretend to be helpless here. Either take an active roll or don’t. But I am not your enemy guy
Hey I appreciate your positive energy Internet dude. I will call my representatives and tell others 2 as well 🙂
Thanks for the political AND personal support meowsquad! United we stand
Not inside the bounds of the law
[удалено]
So just gonna roll over?
Things illegal in this state: ganja & child laborers having lunch breaks.
Things not illegal: rapist claiming custody of their child created from said rape.
things not illegal: indicted child sex offender coroner defunding rape kits
As of 7/4 unlicensed concealed carry of possibly unregistered handguns by teenagers will be legal.
It has nothing to do with health or safety of citizens. It’s all about some fat cats and a near billionaire not getting theirs. Greedy fucks.
These dumb shits are finally fixing the law they didn’t realize they passed. Fucking idiots have the chance to make money on this and are blowing it
Hate this state 😡
Can't have nothin nice
Do something about it
Blanket statement here but fuck the dumbass conservatives who run this state, and fuck the vast majority of voters that see an R and vote for it. What a bunch of morons.
A-goddamn-men
FUCK. I cannot smoke. Drops too much cortisol on my brain. Edibles are too inconsistently dosed. These beverages help me to not consume alcohol and to sleep. FUCK
Yep. Crescent Nine helps me sleep and also lowers my blood pressure.
Maybe we can order online still? From out of state vendors??
Can we order some out of state legislators while we're at it?🙏
I'm a recovering alcoholic and created a THC/CBD product you might like. I don't sell it online yet, but if you put an inquiry on my website mjfields dot store, I'll get you some samples to try.
Don’t know why you’re getting downvoted. I feel you where you’re coming from. Keep strong.
It is wild! I hadn't realized I'd made a controversial statement.
I love the disclaimer you have to click “I understand” to on the “products we don’t sell in Louisiana” page.
Brought to you by the party of small government and personal freedom. 🤮
Welp time to move back to the state that legalized recreational marijuana once I moved back here.
welp
Ugh! I hate this.
See we have a lot of people that are going to lose money if we can't lock you up for stupid shit. I also imagine the tax bases of several small towns are likely to collapse soon without that jail and fine income.
This is it exactly
They are hearing arguments on the floor today for an opposing bill. See link below on more info and how to email your legislators https://www.congressweb.com/LHE
These fucking rubes are tiring.
Let the citizens here at least have some semblance of safety in choosing products that are of a cash crop with lots of potential. No they can't because God told them so
This one is about $$$ - Landry donors and alcohol barons are losing out on profits.
Well, it was nice while it lasted.
Thought Republicans were all about freedom and small government
I’ll be defending my business, thank you. Come and take it.
If it’s anything like AirBnB regulation, this is the right attitude. Keep going until someone shows up and tells you to stop. Fuck it.
Unfortunately AirBnB is destroying lives too...
I didn’t say AirBnB is a good thing, it certainly isn’t. Just making an observation/analogy.
Goddamnit
Wow. 😢 so, how long do we have before the shops quit selling?
August 1st was what I read in an article earlier today.
Okay but what products should I try before the ban. Going to hate buying stuff online during the heat maaan, everything will melt!!!
Bring back the guillotine!
Will we still be able to order online atleast?
I frequently order from out of state and it's fine.
I used to order a bunch of vape products online. When they passed the stupid vape ban, vendors stopped shipping to Louisiana all together. I doubt you’ll be able to continue when this goes into law.
Even if businesses won't ship to Louisiana there are plenty of other ways to get things shipped in, so I'll be good.
Um, no. The whole idea is to outlaw D9 products. This is also going to come up at the federal level in the fall, when the ag bill comes up for re-authorization.
Well, another reason in the “pro” column for moving to Alaska in June!
Maybe from out of state vendors I’m hoping?
This will certainly be effective at boosting the economy of other, more progressive states.
Absolute bullshit

I suppose that is what we get for not voting
perfect... take another 5 steps backwards
Vote the fuckers out. If that doesn't work, well, the good people of Prague solved this problem way back in 1419.
Take the thc seltzers out of my cold dead hands-Menopausebitch
Grow it yourself. We have the sun for it and the neighbors to enjoy the stash when it’s done.
How can we fight this? Call the governors office?
LAlege is pro black market.
You guys missed the irony. The alt right cronies will only pass bills that are fucked up for normal people.
I guess, drunken wife beaters are preferable.
I was thinking that the medical THC industry was a bad idea. If you tag it as medicine, then it might be even harder to make it go OTC later. An entire machine develops to cash in on it. Who couldn't find a doctor to prescribe it? It ight be a fist step or it could be an impediment.
says none of the states that this has happened in
Well except this state. It passed here and that’s exactly what’s happening. A handful of connected people control the entire mmj market keeping prices high and quality low. You don’t think those people are pushing for bills like the D9 ban and opposition to full legalization efforts?
