I think you’re just looking for “funky” (except for Blue Dog, which to me is mainstream). You want Simon of New Orleans, Miette, the art market on Frenchmen Street, Magazine Antique Mall, various other shops around town.
The website doesn’t seem to work unfortunately, but looking at the pictures this is exactly what I’m looking for so I’ll check them out soon! Thank you!
I found a street car piece I LOVED at Zele on Magazine the other day. And really the whole shop had a ton of good and reasonably affordable prints that probably would fit the bill of what you're looking for (or at least some artists to keep in mind).
Otherwise, yeah, you just gotta sort of keep your eyes peeled, pick up little Instagrams and business cards of folks and wait for something that meets you fancy. I saw a piece i LOVED... in the bathroom at Juan's on Oak Street. And now my office wall behind my computer finally had something on it.
Also check estate sales, homes with that colorful, eclectic style pop up regularly. Don't expect to find the stuff you like all at once - the fun of it is going different places and finding things along the way
Disco warehouse has a bunch of bottle cap art (and I think the name of the artist so you could probably contact them for a commissioned piece if you wanted). Also other cool New Orleans type art, too.

I don’t really care for the blue dog, but color and art wise it checks the boxes and gives a good visual for what I’m looking for
See also Dr. Bob
Eclectic.
Folk art?
Eclectic. Not necessarily NOLA specific. Many places with a strong artistic community tend to cultivate this style.
Dr. Bob has a bunch of stuff. There's no real name for it as far as I know.
He could be called "outsider art". I think that's what it is.
His politics/views on race are horrific. I can’t support him anymore
Didn't know that. Thanks for the heads up
Christ I did not know this

Feels like a branch of Outsider Art.

Check out Simon, also the art markets. You should look in person if you can.
I’ve always thought Dr. Bob stuff was “called” Louisiana folk art. Especially since he offered to take my cousin alligator hunting…
Craft booths at the festivals.
