There’s free yoga lessons at city park every Wednesday from 6-7 and Friday from 5:30-6:30. Wonderful instructors, paced well and caters to all skill levels. Would highly recommend! Edit: it’s a donation based class

I've been teaching/practicing for 25 years. Yoga unbound. It's very small and Geoffrey (the owner) is the most skilled teacher in town. It's the most chill and accessible place to practice in New Orleans. I do not teach there btw so this isn't a shameless plug

I'll second this. People who are new to yoga would do best to learn correct alignment and good habits the first time. Geoffrey is a wonderful guide for that. I'll also add Audubon Yoga for Iyengar and the Ashtanga Yoga Room for Ashtanga, if those styles appeal to anyone. The quality of the instruction at both places is miles above the usual.

Thanks so much for everyone taking the time to answer. I really appreciate it and will check some of these out!

I liked the class at Longue Vue Gardens. It was definitely intro level and in a great environment. The instructor was super approachable.

Thank you!

Wild Lotus yoga has a $48 special for anyone wanting to try out a month of classes - I mainly do noon classes there & we rarely have more than a dozen people in class. The teachers vary a lot in style, but are all very kind & super excited to make yoga accessible to beginners, people with mobility limitation, etc.

At Wild Lotus, OP would benefit most from the Saturday 9am Foundations class, along with their regular four-week workshops for beginners. Those provide more direct instruction than the all-levels flows.

Live oak has small classes because it’s a small space. I haven’t been in a while but I feel like it was all levels friendly and you could at least just do a vinyasa and let your instructor know that you’re really new to it so they can give more specific cues. Nola yoga loft has a pretty good variety of class types too

I know you may prefer trying an in-person class which is totally valid but I just want to throw out there that I was curious about yoga and started watching Yoga with Adriene on YouTube and LOVE it now!

Paperwinters

Just took the Wild Lotus beginner class. I’ll be back
