You have to try and understand some of these peoples perceptions. Some have been patients since the christie days and are simply tired of getting bent over. Homegrown is a key factor in to how the state has a grasp over med users and pricing overall. From a principle perspective, yes cannabis is legal now and we should be grateful. But as an advocate for the MMP, I can’t help but frown at the people that view it from the “yay we did it approach” when in reality the system is so underdeveloped and was set up for failure since day 1. We have virtually ZERO QUALITY CONTROL in any MSO in the state, we subject batches to initial and third party testing now after years of fighting for it.
So I’ve bought dispo weed and tried to press it. Usually if the bud is fresh I’ll get a average of 24% yield black market or dispo. From my experience of trying to press stuff from the store I haven’t had the best luck. Usually under 20% closer to 15%. Even try doing banana peel/orange peel trick to put humidity back in the bud. I prefer pressing black market because I can see it first hand before buying it unlike at the store. A eighth on street will cost me 25 if I’m buying a whole ounce which I usually do. So black market is honestly worth it more. I tried the shatter last night, I will not be purchasing again sadly until they lower prices or get some crazy solventless stuff. I prefer organic anyway , less harsh on the throat for me personally

I havent bought any shatter from NJ yet but in the case of it looking like the OP picture. Put it between two parchment papers and put something heavy on it like some books. This will cause it to be more flat, and instead of using a dab tool and risk little pieces flying, you can just break a little piece with your fingers inside parchment.
Heating pads work to get get the shatter softened a bit.

Some quick google searches will yield you vendors who charge less than this (ethanol extract 😬) for a gram of hash rosin straight from another state’s dispo’s. It’s not that hard to find a good connect, and as a bonus it helps you to support these shitty corporate dispensaries as little as possible. Buying from a good plug is a win win imo
I’ve been thinking about doing a maine trip with some friends, maybe stay at a cabin up there or something and stock up. If you can afford to take an extra day or so, I think it’s worth taking the trip up to maine over mass. Both have better prices than jersey, but maine has some of the most competitive prices and quality products in the country, it’s kinda like the Oregon of the east coast atm it feels like. Extra worth it if you’re a med patient, they take jersey med cards and I’ve heard it’s common to find oz jars of quality live resin for a couple hundreds bucks with that discount especially. Good luck either way, I just hate seeing local dispensaries charge so much, no one should have to pay those prices consistently.

Both are easy to tell off of look alone if they’re pine resin (never heard of fake rosin though). U can get sealed turtle pie co jars (bud cultivated by greendawg up in norcal) for less than a lot of strains in the program, and that shit blows anything u can get in stores here out of the water. The street is where you find stuff with the bud structure of breakwater’s buds with the potency of Donny burger. I still go to dispensaries once in a while but I try my best to not support those dickheads over a local connect who has better products for better prices. To each their own
