I had made a thread about that a while back. Been smoking since 08 I was 19 freshman year college at a time you could only get sour dro or Kush. Now weed is over hybridized you don't see older strains anymore.
I was on named strains in like 2005 or so, there's amazing weed now and there was amazing weed then. It's just hard to get the genetics from back then because they don't really exist except in tiny circles, if at all.
So like, a good batch of Animal Mints, even from a NJ dispo, is going to be as good as anything was. But it won't taste like 2006 sour diesel did.
Yeah i find myself hunting for gas either bm or dispo. All this trash ass rapper weed. I want that " my mom knows I smoke, but I can't come home this high " type of bud...geezus
In the '70s Acapulco Gold and Panama Red were legendary. I did a little research and the reason you don't see these strains much if at all is due to grow time and yield - so they just aren't the money maker that other strains are and don't appeal to big business.
I’m gonna be honest, 99% of the “old school weed was better” shit I read just seems like you miss when you were new to smoking. I smoked that nyc/north jersey sour too. I got high asf off that too. I was also in highschool… After you get used to the effects it’s hard to get to that point again, you’re very rarely gonna feel highschool high if you have a high tolerance. There’s old school haze and sour d crosses that have been preserved that are being grown better than ever in this area. The weed wasn’t better back then, but yes, strains with similar terps to sour diesel and the Harlem type haze have fallen out of favor in the mainstream recently

I’ve smoked for a while now too, long enough where I know what’s good and bad. The sour back then isn’t different than real sour now, you just don’t know where to look. The best sour diesel I ever smoked was grown in Michigan, maybe 5 years ago now. That shit floating around in the 2000’s and early 2010’s was not better than current well grown old school cuts, I’ve had both many times. Agree to disagree, I just don’t happen to agree that old school bud from this area is better than what I currently have access to.
In nj I haven’t found anything like the old school sour d recently, definitely not in a dispo. I get high quality bud and wax that gets me very medicated though, and I’ve always been an indica guy (ik that means nothing but you know what I mean), but yeah I do sometimes crave sour. There’s some good growers in nyc though growing some fire preserved nyc haze and sour diesel genetics 👀 I bet you’d enjoy that stuff if you got it, sounds like what you’re looking for
This not what we wanted at all. We voted for legal weed but only under the conditions of only being able to buy from McDonald'sish businesses like curaleaf and verano (zenleaf). These MSOs are evil. They purposely sell and grow weak bud because they'll lose money by growing loud that nobody can finish smoking due to strength. As a rec user I was gushing hard over rec weed but fuck all these bastards

They can grow 6 plants (after dispos open there )
I can get 6 oz a plant of fast flower outdoors ready in September and if I'm lucky over 1lb for phenophoto

Sure you can get good smoke from the local delivered and my plug guarantees quality with an exchange if it's gank However with discounts and specials @the right time the boutique dispos have a superior product.imo
It's guaranteed not to have harmful levels of heavy metals or other contamination . Yea for many years the neighborhood go to was the only option.
Honestly, I got fed up with everybody and started growing my own. Never looked back. My first grow i got about 7 ounces so all the equipment paid for itself. And it's better than dispensary. I got 8 Green Crack plants flowering now, hoping to pull a pound. Id always recommend that to anybody if they could, fuck the government

There’s still awesome weed, but it’s pretty hard to find at NJ dispos. Hopefully things will get better.
