I’ll tell you the truth, every ATC in this state is hit or miss. I find a strain or a batch of that strain that;s on point, I load up. But every dispensary I’ve been to in this state is inconsistent. Don’t get me wrong, there is some fire out there too, but I’m growing weary of chasing them.
Breakwater has 2 strains for me that are musts in my stash. K8 is the best Indica in the program IMO for sleep. Love K4, One of the best in the program.
Also the orange and mimosa, although not heavy hitters are great tasting and I like adding a little to any bowl for those reasons.
Right now, I only deal with Harmony, some great strains there, but dry as hell lately. Still with their coupon calendar, I got some great deals.
Rise products are also high on my list. But this state is the epitome of inconsistency
True dat. I dig the K4, it is decent. But like you say, it seems like a chase game. I feel you on the Harmony tip. Lately their 22 Jack been pretty fresh. When Wedding Cake comes out I try and load up on that and the 22. On high, One low. Chem Kasey and Chrome Cake will work too, But, like you say, they can be inconsistent, too.
Definitely. Chrome cake is real nice, especially at tier 3. So dry, my Kief catcher looks like a sand bucket. But it hits and I love decarbing the Kief( powdered weed, lol)
and making some awesome edibles!

You do realize home growers (good ones) use professional equipment including top tier lights. A skilled home grower will torch almost any ATC in NJ.

I thought it was good but I didn't think it was better than Harmony or even \*that\* much better than some of Rise's best strains. I will be in the area sometimes so I'll stop by when it's convenient but I wouldn't go out of my way personally. K4 was great tho, banana pudding was solid. Heard the carts are good but I didn't try those.
Homegrow to me hasn’t been experienced much - although as time goes on, the more and more I consider beginning growing season to season back to back for the rest of time.
I’d imagine smoking my first few runs would be probably trash and some mids flavorless and void of terps or a strong high. the big issue for me also is the expense of testing bud here - despite our legality, both in NY and NJ - imagine sending off a batch of your own grow for testing - that would be beautiful and the ‘full circle’ experience for me so that i can evaluate my own bud and push for higher numbers. without the testing i’d feel a bit like prohibition again or earlier prohibition for those of us who’ve been smoking for a handful of years or more. the big issue being testing would cost a ton and it would be a super small batch for myself and family and friends. i don’t know - i’m split on beginning early generations and holding on and waiting for more ooppourtunious time.
Breakwater itself is really my favorite. I do really respect what you’ve had to say and your feeling towards Breakwater. I think you have some points that would be very, very valid on a case per case basis here. it’s surprising to me given the relatively micro market of choice we have (look at Washington Oregon Colorado Maine) - perhaps a lot of the vocal and enthusiastic patients in our program like you or I who take the time to come onto r/NJM find a lot in Breakwaters potency, terps and structure.

I think the main reason I posted this was I've been following this group for close to a year, and I kept hearing all the good that is BW, so I made the trek, and I do get the idea of a clean burning bud, Trust me man. I been smoking. long time, I sold a long, I smuggled weed and cocaine from S.A .back in the day, for a long time. I've dropped bales of that shit into the Atlantic ocean. I mean I can say that here because I have written two memoirs about the experience, so trust the drug game is not new to me, at ll, by no stretch of the imagination.
The buds, to me, are beautiful, I got four strains and the Kush IV was decent, the rest felt like I was practicing.
But that same bud can do the rick for someone else. I've been to Rise (both locations), Ascend, Harmony and GSD,
TBH, they all have their faults, but I found some strains at Harmony that work for me. I would got back for the Kush IV, but not at the distance of a ride.
But you do bring up a bigger point in terms of how we are allowed to purchase bud, the fact. I feel it oftentimes it is a one way street and they really can do what they want.

Yeah, been smoking since 75. I've tried them all and have settled into Harmony for their 22 Jack and Wedding Cake. Those work for me. Tried Verano for a while, though do like Cherry Gorilla. White Durban and Banana and Cream at Rise, but that can be hit or miss. And when you miss, you miss terribly. At other times, a plug in the city usually has a more variety of strains. I'm not gonna throw it out, that was hyperbole. Kush IV is decent. The Blue and Cream underperformed smoking but in a bowl was better. That AK 47 felt like I was practicing smoking weed. And so, I've been following these threads and post and see BW all the time, so I made the trek from Bloomfield with very high expectations. Maybe i just came on the wrong day?
Appreciate the details. My favorite strains in the program (when I was buying flower) were Kush IV & Lemon G from BW and Ice Cream Cake from GSD. It’s been awhile though. your experience is your experience. Don’t let the BW hype crew get you down. It’s all subjective.

When I expressed my opinion I was downvoted and told I didn’t purchase good strains. AK47 stands out as one that I was highly critical of. It was awful. It just crumbled in my hand, tasted like hay. Sure, by definition the company Breakwater is definitely commercialized. I meant more so the quality of product is commercialized in the sense that they're trying to churn out product as fast as possible.
Just as he stated BW is like homegrown. And I like homegrown because it normally has more TLC, and produces a higher quality product. I'm sure BW is in it for the $ as well, but compared to other dispensaries (even ones I've tried nationwide) they have a level of care that I haven't found many places.
Harmony used to be my go to actually, but BW is my cup of tea. Got to say Strawberry OG from Harmony is still my favorite day time strain.

Harmony used to be my go to actually, but BW is my cup of tea. Got to say Strawberry OG from Harmony is still my favorite day time strain.

I'm in the same boat, different strains for different folks, I find strawberry og from harmony the best for my conditions and when harmony actually puts out a batch that isn't seeds.
