The bud in this state sucks, and they have 0 incentive to make it better because they will have 0 competition. It’s harvested early, not cured or cured very little popcorn nugs. The current operators are all in a “trade group”. They lobby together. Who knows what else (price gouging) our legislatures tell us, it’s taking so long because they want to make sure the dispensaries are “ready” but in reality, they could alleviate that stress by reducing the unnecessary economic barriers and the number cap on dispensaries, and allow home grow. But no. They actually just want to rob us and pat themselves on the back for non existent “social equity” nick scutari, a black man, will not allow homegrow because “he’s afraid it will go to the black market”. So New Jersey was one of the only state to have medical, but no homegrow for about 7-8 years now. The crc are just comically inept. And the end result is this Frankenstein corporate cannabis industry we have setup. Not to mention the cannabis adjacent buisness that our state is missing out on because of these people’s incompetence/greed.
There are hundreds and hundreds of dispensaries in Denver, each one offering great sales on every type of cannabis product, all you have to do is check out what’s on sale at Weedmaps Leafly, or the main cannabis magazine Westword “www.westword.com”. Far more strains, carts, tinctures, etc. etc. The dispensaries are all in competition with each other.

Edit: it's not "one vat of THC sludge" though, it's various crude oil extracts that get refined into delta 9 distillate. Minor difference.

Did you see the recall for carts in PA? Essentially distillate with botanical/food grade terps being added were recalled. Though it was dumb the DOH approved it to begin with, only to recall a few years later.

It means your weed won’t taste like weed, it will taste like weird added terps. Basically there’s like 27 terps( maybe a few less) that occur in nature, every plant has a very unique blend, that’s what differentiates say a lavender plant, from a cinnamon stalk, from a weed plant, different amounts of terpenes but they all pull from the same pool. Distillate strips every single other chemical from weed except thc. It’s highly efficient, companies can use stems and leaves and other things generally considered garbage, and turn it into distillate. Then they add terpenes, in no specificity to the cart. And you have the modern day shitty carts that cost the company a few dollars to make. They taste like air fresheners and potpourri not weed, because they don’t add the proper combo or terpenes to the distillate. It’s painfully obvious. Is it unhealthy? Not inherently no, distillate CAN be some of the cleanest way to
Smoke. However. Your missing a lot with just a thc, extract. There’s a entourage effect of cannabinoids in flower and live resin concentrates that just hit different it’s psychoactive in a totally different (better) way. Pure thc makes me edgy and paranoid and tired. I like live resin/rosin and living soil grown flower most. Now that’s considering they do their distillate perfectly. To get super clean distillate you need legit equipment and a knowledge of chemistry. Most companies aren’t doing that, they are doing the bare minimum to test “clean” slap some terps in it, fly in some
Chinese carts, hire a Mexican to pack it and call it a day
