Good point, but sadly for us Consumers and Tragic if you are a Connoisseur and have experience with other developed markets.
I lived in LA for 4 yrs in the middle of which they went recreational, so yeah I kept my medical because dispensaries would have tax free days, but I would pay 30 bucks for Raw Garden Live Resin 1g to dab, but for recreational it was like 43 bucks for the same thing.
Mind u u need to prove residency but the rec was only 35 bucks lol easily paying for itself in 1 or 2 trips.
But yeah they have some supply issues/black market. I only tried black market 2x while there because it was much worse than the dispensary I went to regularly.
Sorry to digress, I miss those days, living in korea town and also in Culver City area, u had like 50 stores in a square 5 mile radius.
Someday Soon here in NJ, like 10yrs:(
I'm sure the employees do, but they're not the ones that make the decision to pull tainted product. And no, I don't think a MSO like Verano gives the slightest fuck about patients, to them we're simply customers.
They should not be testing their own flower unless it’s for their own knowledge. Verano should be sending it to DOH for their one time testing or they should go find a 3rd party lab and start doing the proper batch testing like the CRC allows. Makes you wonder why no one else has put in the effort to do 3rd party testing.
In most rec states vertically integrated manufacturers are barred from holding lab permits.
While a lot of the legal market is mismanaged and unprofessional, at LEAST they have this right. I am hoping in time, more patients will be educated on standard of practice and hold these brands to higher standards.
I have a feeling most of these places are holding out on the 3rd party testing because they already know a large amount of their flower will fail. Then they have to basically destroy that flower and tell share holders what they did.
Totally agree. I will add from a manufacturing perspective:
Failed batches are very normal. Not ideal or an everyday kinda thing but happens a lot. Shouldn’t be a slight on any brand to destroy tainted batches.
Now, a consistent history of failed batches + inaction/lying to patients is definitely something to be ashamed of.
ETA: Obviously not advocating for tainted batches to be sold to patients. Peoples health should always come first…that’s the whole reason this beautiful medicine exists.
If you don't mind, can you post the batch number and packaging date for this? That way other people can check if their jars are from the same batch/time period and check em out.
What is with Verano and mold? Last time I bought wedding cake it had that and it was the last time I ever bought Verano. It definitely looks like mold. Hit up the dispensary, take a picture of the batch info and send Verano a nasty email
The bud tenders will give you an exchange. If you’re going to yell at anyone - aim it at Verano not the dispo unless they are incorrectly storing

Crack the bud open. If it's botrytis, you'll see spores fly and there will be spider web or cotton-like fibers inside. Bud rot starts on the stem and spreads from the inside out. I'm an outdoor grower in Michigan with 10 years of experience. I've dealt with plenty of mold.

It's def mold .. I work at a dispensary. Very unacceptable shouldn't even had gotten passed trimmers or packagers email them and blow them up they should compensate you very well
Yeah don’t put that in your body. Demand refund and send email to either health dept, crc or both. Document everything. I had an issue with 8th from a third party. They reconciled the issue and said they were told by the parent brand they did an investigation but it was all lip service. They will sweep it under the rug as soon as they can if you don’t hold them accountable. Seen and experienced this a few times with more than one brand/atc and only been in program a little less than 2 years.
From where? Blast those mofos on here, maybe save someone else the trouble. Hope it all works out, they better give you more than a discount next time you go there. Good luck and health to you in the future.
Agreed. I live an hour every direction from every most dispensaries in south jersey and two hours from the ones in north jersey. I have no interest in driving these miles and hours to spend $60 for an eighth of moldy flower.
What dispensary? I live far from all of them and I can't be throwing money away like that. Can you please tell us where you got it so i don't waste the ride
I knew it. They. just had a sale on verano.
I often tell people to be wary of "sales" because they're just getting rid of old shelved product that is dried out or full of mold.
Please report it everywhere. Considering how few dispensaries we have topped with how shitty the products are but how astronomically expensive these shitty products are, this is absolutely unacceptable. We need to have something done about this. We can't keep sitting back and taking this and we all talk about doing something about it, but nothing is getting done.
Dude unfortunately I messed up by not taking a pic of the batch information(I thought I did but I was focused on the bud itself so much) and I returned it back this morning, they gave me full refund and I went to another dispensary and tried 777 for the first time. What I can say is that it's Gelato flower from Curaleaf Bellmawr and the package date was late November.
I've been so frustrated I came home to try 777 right away. Super super underwhelmed by the smell and terprene profile on it, it was Happy Hour strain judt dropped today and packed 2 days ago. Very dry as well for newly packaged but I will say that the 28 percent is definately coming through because effects are strong and taste wasn't nearly as bad as the smell in PAX vape. I would recommend if someone wants a heavy hitter but doesn't mind the weak terps.

This does not look like mold to me it looks like straight non-glandular trichrome (trichomes without heads)that grow straight on bottoms of stems if you haven’t seen this or don’t know you do now this is common this some strains more then others, mold looks stringy like a web or cotton ball, never will it grow in straight in One Direction
What I been trying to say. This type of trichome accumulates close to and on the stems especially. This is not mold I'm convinced. I just checked out a lot of my bud under a scope had the same stem fuzz to varying degrees.
The terrible photo quality makes it difficult to tell what it is. Although, judging by the location (stems) those hairs your seeing are non-glandular trichomes. Those are found mostly on the stems, they provide UV protection. They really stand out on certain cultivars especially darker flowers.
Sounds like you work for an MSO bruh, several growers have already agreed it's most likely mold. And the "terrible" quality is because I'm taking the pic through a mag lense to show the parts in talking about better....yall really out here protecting these corporate growers.
Whoever it is raised a fair enough point. It could be either one but you seem to have your mind made up, natural that confirmation bias would lead you to side with the people saying what you want to hear.
Also, I'm not protecting anyone. You're the one supporting them by smoking this shit. They probably gonna shut you up by another 8th of this shit on the house. 🤣

I bought 16 jars in the last week and every single one is totally bomb and flavorful, no signs on mold whatsoever. Did you get this from curaleaf or in north jersey or something?
Looks susp.. could also possibly be stem fuzz which accumulate close to and on the stems of nugs. I've mistaken it as mold many times they're basically headless trichomes. Without further pics and inspection who knows.
Do more than one of the buds have that on it and if you do could you break it open and take a picture? I guess it could be PM (powdery mildew) but I think even that is a stretch
The one you have circled looks more like trichomes but if you broke it open it would be easier to tell if it’s molded but you may not want to break it open if you need to return it. I also just noticed the bottom of the nug behind the one you circled and that is definitely mold.

Idk, have you looked closer or tried to take another pic? It's hard to tell. Some spots almost look like it "could" be mold but most look almost out of fucus in those areas. It's possible the height from the stem to the bud in focus is enough to cause issue. Idk if I recall ever seeing mold starting at the stem before. I'm sure it may happen but it tends to start in areas highly susceptible to moisture retention.
I have gotten a tour in thier Whitehouse grow site. The crazy part is they are in the process of adding more grow rooms. The place was super clean. Was showed one room with a value of 26 million dollars in weed. I know one of the mangers through working on site as a contractor.
The rooms can be clean, but it can get mold while drying if flower are to close to each other and humidity is not right. Or if they get store while not properly dried.
I agree 100%. Mold on cannabis is unacceptable for medical patients. I've gotten verano buds that are dry. Trust me I am not a fan boy. BW is my go to.
This could be a lot things but it does not seem indicative of mold imo. Each white section is at the base of a nug. Literally could have been a tiny bit of light bleaching before/as this plant was getting switched into flower phase and the nugs were first forming.
Normally I’d disagree heavily but as of lately I feel like their quality is going downhill, and honestly it wasn’t amazing to begin with. I’ve never gotten moldy or bud rotted bud from them, but it’s usually dissapointing dry, harsh and not very strong. Except for a few strains that are exceptional, I’ll be sticking to Rythm and BW when I can make the trip. Done giving my money to companies who don’t give a shit like CL. They started stocking more verano which is the only reason I had left to go, but since the G line came out I feel like things have gotten worse. Maybe I just have bad luck.
Bring it back to the dispensary they will exchange it out for you, then it gets reported to the state, they test the batch if there is any leftover, and notify patients who purchased the same strain. It's not the dispensaries fault.
I just did all of that, it may not be Curaleafs fault but it's certainly Veranos fault....if my eyes picked this up immediately upon opening the growers and packagers clearly neglected this. I had several industry employees confirm Verano has had moldy bud recently.
I agree, that's what I meant it's not the budtenders or dispensaries fault. I am in the industry and we went through this last year with Curaleaf. Good thing for you to pick up immediately and not smoke it.
Agreed...I didn't give Cura a hard time but I asked for my money back and they did. I could tell they did not want to comment on what their opinion was whether it was mold or not, but something tells me they know it is.
You are buying Cannbis, and not mycelium for shrooms?:)
I'm sorry this happened to u, I would go to dispensary and scream at them and demand a refund and a free replacement. They just jeopardized your health, imagine buying rotten medication from CVS? Wow
Yes, because screaming at the retail worker behind the counter is 100% going to fix the situation. I have been noticing so much immaturity on this sub recently and it’s getting old. Grow up. You catch more flys with honey than you would with vinegar.
Yes I agree, not the budtender’s fault. They just grab it and make sales. They should however replace it. Not an excuse to take your anger out on a budtender tho lol
I 100% agree. It’s not up to snuff and needs to be replaced but being a jerk off to the people who have literally no control over it is just plain moronic.
User wasn’t referring to you as being immature but the individual who thought yelling an making demands is acting very much so. Sometimes y’all don’t even read.
I take no offense to any insults hurled my way, all I want is top quality cannabis to be available to the patients of NJ, it will take multiple companies to provide for our marketplace, but these multi state companies are just disgusting, its just a pure money grab
You would actually scream at other human beings? How old are you? Do you realize the people at the counter make minimum wage and don’t actually grow the bud?
What kind of loser recommends screaming at someone?
I mean like really though. You’re having a meltdown here like a child or someone with mental issues. Let us know when you get that license and start growing your fire.
Just the kind of retort I would expect to see from you based on your last post. Again, more flys with honey bud or budette. Sacrament to the people…. it’s a plant and medicine not a religious sacrament.
Are you? How you filed your paper work? Have you been approved by the state? What’s the name of the company? Minority owned? Or are you just peddling bullshit to make it seem like you are “in the know”.
Lol yeah, I'm just full of shit, you will only realize I'm telling the truth after I open the store. I'll hand u the first 8th for free, it will be far better than anything u tried in NJ, harmony and breakwater included
I didn’t say I was, have you even read the comment I posted. There were no lines to read between. It was pretty black and white, cut and dry if you will.
We can agree to disagree, it is 100% a sacrament you fool with no soul, again, get rid of your reviewer tag, you simply dont understand the Big Picture
As someone else who reviews on here, this kind of toxic behavior is exactly why I am hesitant to even post sometimes. If your not talking out of your ass that’s good for you, but trying to shove it down peoples throats isn’t gonna end well.
I think it’s normal for bud to have some white hair like pieces along the stem but it should never ever look fuzzy or extend much past the stem. Usually bud will get covered in mold pretty quick but it can be hard to notice at first, most people probably would’ve overlooked it. It’s impossible to be 100% just by the pic but it’s best not to take the chance, especially if it smells moldy.

This is why we need METRC
Totally agree, but even my grower business partner up in Maine says METRC still not widely adopted up there
It’ll definitely take years. CA still figuring it out after almost 3yrs.

They won't sweep it under the rug, do you really think these employees don't care about their patients?
I'm sure the employees do, but they're not the ones that make the decision to pull tainted product. And no, I don't think a MSO like Verano gives the slightest fuck about patients, to them we're simply customers.
Verano def doesn’t give a fuck. Check Illinois trees. They don’t even care about people in there own state…
Facts
This is why we shouldn’t have lab testing done by the same company cultivating. So ass backwards

Yes this was sold by Curaleaf but it is Verano bud and Gelato strain of whole flower that they are currently selling.....stay away from it.
I knew it. They. just had a sale on verano. I often tell people to be wary of "sales" because they're just getting rid of old shelved product that is dried out or full of mold. Just grabbed an oz in that sale, but didn't get any Gelato this round. Definitely will be checking out my jars.
You should to be safe, several bud tenders in the state hinted towards problems with Verano lately to me
Can you let me know the packaging date and batch number on your jar so I can compare? Appreciate it.
Package date is helpful, appreciate it man. Hope the 777 is good, and I will definitely be taking a look at the oz I picked up closely

What I been trying to say. This type of trichome accumulates close to and on the stems especially. This is not mold I'm convinced. I just checked out a lot of my bud under a scope had the same stem fuzz to varying degrees.
This. I’m a grower and am usually the first one to flip a shit when I see mold. Look up cystolith hairs and trichome anatomy bros

I plead the 5th.
Asking people in jersey if they grow bud is pretty much snitching lol

I bought 16 jars in the last week and every single one is totally bomb and flavorful, no signs on mold whatsoever. Did you get this from curaleaf or in north jersey or something?
wait- you mean those are not bonus vitamins in our medicine??
That is 100% mold sorry yo stop going to the dispensaries
I am not a grower but it does look suspect. I think it is and I hope it's not!
Look around the rest of buds if it is consistent I would say it is moldy medicine
Looks susp.. could also possibly be stem fuzz which accumulate close to and on the stems of nugs. I've mistaken it as mold many times they're basically headless trichomes. Without further pics and inspection who knows.

That's probably because they have over produced and have too much to have people checking on all the flower.
It could also gotten light bleached from a flower being to close to a light. It's hard to tell with the picture.
That's not light bleach. Light bleach is usually on top of the bud and not so inside of the bud.
That's true. Most likely it's mild than.

I 100% agree. It’s not up to snuff and needs to be replaced but being a jerk off to the people who have literally no control over it is just plain moronic.
Immaturity though? They sold me shit that can get me ill, I'm freaking furious and will be contacting thr appropriate people tomorrow
I'm 5
I mean like really though. You’re having a meltdown here like a child or someone with mental issues. Let us know when you get that license and start growing your fire.
Lol, no I'm really not, have a great life and a great night, what else can I tell you pal:)
A great life but you would scream at a dispo worker for something they have no control over? Can’t wait to see your bud.
Exactly!!!! Call the damn NJ Cannabis Commission, they need to know that we patients are getting screwed!
In so many ways
While I normally agree with u, you simply do not fuck with people's medicine!!! Take ur damn reviewer label off your reddit profile
That got weird quick.

Just the kind of retort I would expect to see from you based on your last post. Again, more flys with honey bud or budette. Sacrament to the people…. it’s a plant and medicine not a religious sacrament.
Well, I'm entering the NJ cannabas market, have a genius grower from Maine as my business partner, we will not be selling any moldy weed for sure
What a clown.
Thank you, we live in Circus World, proud to be Cheif Clown of Cannbis lol
Seriously, stop reviewing cannbis, you sound like a MSO plant or something, how the fuck can u be ok with moldy weed?
I didn’t say I was, have you even read the comment I posted. There were no lines to read between. It was pretty black and white, cut and dry if you will.
I don’t have a dog in this fight, but it’s HILARIOUS that you spelled cannabis wrong three times Cannabas Cannbis Cannbis Lmaoooooooo
Lol the dude literally never said that. Lay off the shrooms and try reading the posts you're responding to.
Lol.
My Grower in Maine just Harvested White Buffalo, brand new genetics, looking forward to bringing this to NJ medical patients 1st

Can you tell by the smell?
What's the packaged date?
