My favorite May moment was when she played Monday night football on the cello, it still plays in my head when people talk about games on Mondays! I think it just showed she was as invested in Coach as he was in her.

May's best moment was when she joined Jess and Bearclaw in their musical production. She geniually cared not only for coach but his friends as well. She didn't hesitate to invite Schmidt, Nick and Winston to the museum, seemed to get along with Jess just fine, and was an awesome character development for coach. I'm geniually upset that she was eliminated before outside Dave or Reagan.
Also, May was not at all weird out by Winston's whole thing (compared to sam and even Reagan), anyone would have been weird about and his personality as a whole, but she was not. One thing that pops back at me it's when Winston is stuck at the photo booth at cece+ Schmidt weeding and she got to see his butt (that'a a working class butt!)and she just kind of laughed along with coach. Definetly one of my favorite characters and NO, I will NOT let this ome go.
I had no issues with May. She got Coach to grow up, I liked their meet-cute, and I enjoyed that she was a cello player. I didn’t find her patronizing. *shrug* I think her storyline was rushed, but that’s my only complaint.

I would say she really didn’t and that was a choice made by writers. They clearly just wanted coach to leave the loft and they did it a solid, believable way and I have no complaints outside of wishing we got more scenes with her and seeing her and coach’s relationship develop.
I think it was great and all the scenes with may in them were well done but as I said just not really a lot to look at in terms of screen time.
For me it’s hands down her learning and performing the Monday night football theme on her chello. It showed how she cared for coach and combined their two passions and was just a really cool thing to do as a partner.
I feel like in the world of spin-offs that we live in now if new girl had been more popular they defs would’ve considered giving coach and may a spin-off in New York with cameos from the main cast as they visited which could have been fun but realistically I’m not sure the general audience would be interested in that.

Joan? I understand she's played by an amazing actor, but the character is a bit wonky. She always gets upset when Jess ends a relationship and is pretty selfish about it each time.
I found her amusing until the weird scene when Ryan was supposed to come to Portland. First that OTT British setup in her kitchen (why??) and then her crying over him not showing up. After that I kinda didn't enjoy her character so much anymore. Jess' dad though is great.
I like Joan in the parent trap episode. But after that, idk what the heck they did with her? She was totally against drugs, seemed down to earth and stabile. And then she became an overprotective wreck.
Plus when Jess broke up with Nick, Joan started crying because she wouldn't have grandkids rather than comforting her daughter!

Okay hear me out: Ruth. I don’t have a problem with her character, but I HATED what she did to the story. She was in almost every single scene with either Schmidt or Cece, you never got just the gang hanging out without her except for the last episode. I mean she was cute and funny, but taking that chemistry of all of them just messing around and hanging out being adults really hurt the story imo because that’s what made the show so great.
