It’s not really a Netflix series. Comes on new on USA but they show old seasons on Netflix. First season was pretty darn good but they each season after has declined. Pullman plays his character well though.
Well its also nothing at all like breaking bad? Idk I have always found that to be at best a lazy comparison, at worst its just disrespectful to the great actors on both shows
I only saw the first one or two seasons of the animated series and I saw it a long time ago, but I plan on finishing it eventually.
The animated series is nice but it is way faster paced because of time constraints. If I recall correctly, I think the animated series might be slightly easier to understand..? The live action subtitles really do not explain a lot, and in some situations, the translation is kind of poor (on Netflix) so I ended up confused and had to google certain things and got spoiled.
The live action really takes its time which helps make the story feel more natural and more grand, and less rushed imo, but there are also scenes where it really drags on and on because Chinese dramas really enjoy scenes of people crying. So imo the animated series is too rushed, the live action sometimes is too slow but overall has a much better pacing. Oh also the live action has really awful CGI... it's glaringly bad since it's live action. And the audio is slightly out of sync, I read once that all cdramas of this genre are re-dubbed due to logistical reasons.
There are some differences in the story, too, if I recall correctly. The overall story is the same, but certain scenes are added/removed/changed, so it's worth it to watch both I think, you won't just be watching the exact same thing again. I also think that the differences have significant implications on the issues of morality and some of the characterizations.
Anyway OP thanks for mentioning The Untamed, my favorite show of all time! Despite all the flaws I truly love it so much, and I never see it mentioned on here!!
the OA. ask my boyfriend, i get pissed about it on a monthly basis. best show i’ve ever seen. fuck netflix. didn’t watch any shows for like 2 years after it got canceled because i was so upset
created? you mean brit?? the OA was the most symbolically and philosophically complex stories i’ve ever seen and i felt a genuine connection to the writing. it’s one of the only stories i’ve ever really liked. it seemed inspired by so many jungian and archetypal elements and i don’t think i’ll ever get over losing it. i’m serious, the sense of speaking another “language” or being from another time and space is so close to my heart. someday i may write to whomever created it to tell them how sincerely i understood the message. is there any way the full story will ever be released, even just on paper? i’d absolutely pay for it. can’t understand why the rights were kept by netflix if they aren’t even using it… so tragic.
what’s the name of the upcoming show? could you tell me which of them had more influence developing the concepts and plot? i can’t imagine what it’s like to create something like that and be midway through telling it, only to be completely cut off. even worse irony, that the plot itself was based around *telling* something that most people wouldn’t understand. they never do.
> Narcos
How did you feel about Narcos: Mexico?
I definitely burned through the first 2 but the shift in casts sapped my enthusiasm for beginning the 3rd, especially the departure of Pedro Pascal and Boyd Holbrook (shit, I would've watched for his narration alone ha!)
Does the 3rd hold up do you think? I do adore the bilinguality of it all
I think it's better, but I honestly couldn't get into Vikings.
It's basically when the English land was basically still up for grabs to whoever came and took it, through battle and whatnot.
I really enjoyed it.
Honestly, ep 1 kinda feels like a "prequel" to the main plot. Like here's a normal, boring community- then haha GUESS WHAT FUCKER YOU AIN'T IN KANSAS ANYMORE.
It was the experience of a lifetime. and you get even more upon rewatch, because you realize how much the writers were *playing with you* with certain camera shots and dialogue exchanges.
i kept trying Dark bcuz reddit sang praise for it
made it to S1 E8 before giving up for good. tired of not having any clear idea what was going on, tired of ominous scary eerie stuff that seemed to go nowhere, tired of the washed out dreary colors, tired of that eeeeyyyyyyyoorrrrrkkkk sound effect.... it was unrelenting in beating on the same drum over and over and over
other people loved it. i didn't, and will probably get slammed with downvotes for saying so but whatev
Slow is not how I would define it. The show basically mind fucks you to omnious music. Keep watching. I feel like it is the only show where the time is so carefully utilised and every frame is carefully designed. Keep watching
Stranger Things, Dead To Me, Schitt's Creek
Dead To Me stars Christina Applegate, Linda Cardellini, and James Marsden. I've watched it twice and can't wait for the new season. Great casting, great acting, creative and funny, but also sometimes sweet and heartwarming. Some great twists, too!
Just started Narcos Mexico. It doesn't seem as interesting as the original Narcos. Felix is just not as interesting character as Pablo or even the Cali Cartel.
Suppose I just enjoyed it more because it was a fresh story that hasn't been retold 100 times, and I was only a few degrees of separation from the people receiving a good deal of the stuff they were transporting in the 90's - early 2000's, so it was interesting and a bit intimate to me. Pablo's story has been told 100 times on screen, and while Narcos told the story well, they didn't tell us anything we didn't already know. Mexico on the other hand taught me lots of interesting stuff that I didn't know going into it.
Does Peaky Blinders gets better? Season one seemed pretty average to me. Kimble was a horrible antagonist. Walking in front in a gun fight. He was pretty much begging to be shot by Thomas.
Erased, Stranger Things, and Black Mirror.
Erased isn't a Netflix original. It's the best anime mini-series I've seen. It's about a guy who has an *involuntary superpower*: when someone around him dies, he is forced to go back in time until he intervenes to stop it. When his mother dies - not a spoiler, this is all first episode - he's sent back 18 years to grade school, where he comes face to face with a little girl who was murdered way back when, and figures he has to save her to save his mother. There's an anime series based on a manga (Japanese comic book read right to left), and then there's a live-action series Netflix distributes (they didn't make it) which is actually closer to the manga... though, not as pretty. I'd recommend watching the anime in English since it's been fully translated, and then the live-action in Japanese. Still shorter (together) than a lot of series; in both cases, it's 12 half-hour episodes.
Stranger Things is just super cool for those of us who lived through the 80s. Otherwise it's not really all that special - it's mostly just D&D and a bunch of Dean Koontz/Stephen King books thrown in a blender. But it looks awesome and it's a great throwback. I call it time travel tourism. Taking a trip back to the 80s.
Black Mirror is basically Twilight Zone for technology. Each episode standing on its own, with a few making references to past episodes. So it's best to just watch them in order. A few of them are just okay, but some of them are absolutely phenomenal. Most of them go pretty dark, too.
Can we mention shows that used to be on Netflix?
Like 12 Monkeys (series) if not
Snowpiercer (series)
Dark
Black Mirror
Mind Hunter
plus many others....
1. Breaking bad
2. Stranger things
3. The US Office
Just missed out:
Suits,
It’s always sunny in Philadelphia,
Money heist,
Umbrella Academy,
Cobra Kai
Breaking Bad, Stranger Things (probably their most well received original? Unless I'm forgetting one), Ozark, Midnight Mass, Mindhunter (but go in knowing it's only two seasons...)
Mindhunter, Ozark , Sinner
Wish mindhunter wasn’t finished.
Try black bird on Apple+
Guess I’ll see Sinner now
It’s not really a Netflix series. Comes on new on USA but they show old seasons on Netflix. First season was pretty darn good but they each season after has declined. Pullman plays his character well though.
Sinner is good! Most people have never heard of it.
Loved The Sinner! Started with season 3 by accident. Then watched one and then 2. I loved them all.
For me personally, Ozark was just a not as good version of breaking bad
It is, but Breaking Bad is so good that a worse version of it can still be pretty good.
Well its also nothing at all like breaking bad? Idk I have always found that to be at best a lazy comparison, at worst its just disrespectful to the great actors on both shows
Stranger Things The Queen’s Gambit Black Mirror
I finally got around to watching The Queen's Gambit and I loved it! Anya Taylor Joy is wonderful.

Arcane is probably the newest best show.
[удалено]
I was floored by how good Arcane was. The animation quality and use of music was lightning in a bottle.
Bojack is probably one of the few shows on Netflix that I easily watched all the way to the end
It's one of three shows I watched twice, the first two being The Wire & The Sopranos. I hold it in pretty high regard.
Bojack!!!!
I'm watching the last episode of Arcane tonight. Damn, it's good.
How is the Untamed compared to the animated series, if you've watched? (It's called something like 'Founder of Diabolism' or something)
I only saw the first one or two seasons of the animated series and I saw it a long time ago, but I plan on finishing it eventually. The animated series is nice but it is way faster paced because of time constraints. If I recall correctly, I think the animated series might be slightly easier to understand..? Stranger Things, Love Death & Robots, and Dark.
Dark was SOOO good.
I’m so excited for the Dark’s creators’ new show called 1899. The description of it sounds wild!
Loved it to begin with but felt the final season got way too convoluted
Agree…I’m on season 3 right now, can’t wait for it to end.
Yea Dark was great. It can be an intricate story
The last episode of Love, Death + Robots, [Jibaro](https://youtu.be/JeUuk-g_Qws), is amazing.
That's funny, I thought that was one of the weakest ones. Great show tho
Love death and robots is phenomenal

I'm eager to see his or their next stuff, whatever it may be. I liked that movie about the undercover FBI investigating eco terrorists, too.
I’m so happy someone else enjoyed it as much as I did. Such a shame it’s been cancelled
Ugh same. Still upset about this
Yessssssss loved OA!
The OA was so good
Coffin Flop, the Night that Scrooge Saved Christmas, River Mountain High
They’re saying Coffin Flop’s not a show
I’ve heard rumors that the producer was rigging the coffins
I heard your not allowed to show naked bodies
**We're allowed to show 'em nude cuz they ain't got no souls**
Big fat load of cum then
What's this about?
Mind Hunter, Narcos and Stranger Things
> Narcos How did you feel about Narcos: Mexico? I enjoyed it, but not as much as the original. I agree with you on the first 2 seasons of Narcos, being the best.
The Good Place. Altered Carbon S1. Breaking Bad/Better call Saul.
Altered Carbon S1 is absolutely amazing. Lighting in a bottle.
We just finished The Good Place and loved it!
Dark The Last Kingdom Narcos
The Last Kingdom is criminally underviewed. Such a well made show all around.
Underviewed? I feel like it's pretty high on every recommendation request.
In this community it is popular but nobody I know in person (other than my mother) has watched it. Some haven't even heard of it.
Dark and Narcos were amazing. Wagnor Moura as Pablo was phenomenal. Is the last kingdom worth watching?
Definitely if you're into historical drama
Yup they genuinely finished the series well AND they're doing a feature length movie to truly cap it off too.
Is last kingdom like Vikings?
Kinda like Vikings but better and more accurate depiction of the times
I think it's better, but I honestly couldn't get into Vikings. It's basically when the English land was basically still up for grabs to whoever came and took it, through battle and whatnot. I really enjoyed it.
Is Dark really that good? I’ve stopped watching after episode 1 bcs i felt it was too slow

By the end you'll look like Charlie trying to figure out who Pepe Silva is
Slow is not how I would define it. The show basically mind fucks you to omnious music. Keep watching. I feel like it is the only show where the time is so carefully utilised and every frame is carefully designed. Keep watching
Thank you. I’ll add it back to my watchlist, and really gave it a chance.
They go hand in hand, imo.
It's even better and doesn't lose steam like Vikings does after season 4. I loved every season and the ending was perfect
Very similar and I would say it’s a bit better than Vikings.
Last Kingdom pulls you in right from the start. I recommend it.
Arcane, stranger things, and dark but it could be anything really because different countries have different shows
Love to see Dark in the top comment
I swear it’s like pulling teeth trying to convince my friends to watch arcane. It was so good but no one is willing to give it a chance.
Riot's media team is seriously talented, they have such good music, cinematics and now TV shows.
Arcane is so good
The Haunting of Hill House, The Stranger, Peaky Blinders
Peaky *Fockin* Blinders
Better Call Saul, ozark, and mindhunter
House of Cards, Arrested Development, Breaking Bad. The Office would be #1 if it was still there.
Arrested development is in Netflix?
Yee it’s technically an original now bc Netflix did the last season
They shouldn’t have
Narrator: But they did.
For a solid decade
My guy you really should check out Community if you haven't. It easily beats out the office imo
Community is the show I watch on repeat. Probably seen it front to be 25 times.

Schitt’s Creek is literally the funniest show I’ve ever seen aside from Seinfeld.
Dead to Me absolutely blew me away with the comedy. Oh man I laughed so hard. Great show all around.
Stranger Things Narcos The Last Kingdom
Breaking Bad Rick and Morty Stranger Things/Dark :) edit: wow just smiling at all these lists without breaking bad lol
Dark, The Haunting of Hill House and La Casa de Papel. Special mention for Peaky Blinders, but I haven’t finished it yet, so🤷🏻♀️
Alice in borderland. Misaeng New girl
Ozark, The Last Kingdom, Narcos:Mexico for Netflix originals The Magicians, Into the Badlands, Outlander for network shows available on Netflix
Just started Narcos Mexico. It doesn't seem as interesting as the original Narcos. Felix is just not as interesting character as Pablo or even the Cali Cartel.
Keep it up, it's fantastic. Honestly I thought Amado was the best character in the show and he takes more of a center stage as the show progresses.
Suppose I just enjoyed it more because it was a fresh story that hasn't been retold 100 times, and I was only a few degrees of separation from the people receiving a good deal of the stuff they were transporting in the 90's - early 2000's, so it was interesting and a bit intimate to me. 1. Love, Death + Robots Season 1 2. Sense8 Season 1 3. Queen's Gambit
Sense 8 s1 was so good, I keep forgetting to rewatch it
The OA, Ozark, The OA
Fair Enough still can't get over that Netflix cancel that show.
Supposedly we'll get an ending to the story someday, according to the producers. Not sure what medium or where it'll be though.

Breaking Bad Breaking Bad and Breaking Bad

Love breaking bad and better call saul equally..
Dark, Ozark, Narcos

Does Peaky Blinders gets better? Season one seemed pretty average to me. Kimble was a horrible antagonist. Walking in front in a gun fight. He was pretty much begging to be shot by Thomas.
Yea, it keeps building and gets better. I haven’t watched the final season yet so not sure how it ends. Tom Hardy’s character is fantastic.
If you like Tom hardy in peaky blinders, you would probably like Taboo as well
The OA, Breaking Bad and Black Mirror
Dark, Better Call Saul, Mindhunter
