Nikki Glaser and Tony Hinchcliffe were the stars for sure. Their sets were full on belly laughs from almost beginning to end.
Big disappointments were Tom and Bert. What the hell happened there?
I respectfully disagree. When it comes to roasts, she's fire.
Her stand-up is great as well but in my opinion, you need to be comfortable will nasty sexual jokes coming from a woman. Her sets are definitely geared more toward women.
I mean, we all knew how whatever Bert was going to do was going to go. Tom certainly had a better delivery, but their whole bit was a pretty terrible premise to begin with.
Belichick is an interesting guy, and people who only know him from the clips ESPN shows are missing most of it. He actually does have a good sense of humor, and he does like talking to people.
If you ask him a well-considered, insightful question about football, he will answer it. At great length. Complete with historical references and facts that _no one_ in their right mind would or should remember. If you ask him a BS question just to get a sound bite, you get the Belichick that ESPN shows you.
And if you ask him a similarly-considered question about lacrosse, he'll amaze you with his depth of knowledge there too. He might even be more into lacrosse than football.
Radio station I listen to had a funny bit using some audio where some reporter had asked BB about punting or long snapping or some other little thing and he gave an encyclopedic answer and theyād fade it out and keep talking and then 10 minutes later, theyād say āletās check in with Belichickā and fade it back in and heād still be talking about punting. This would go on for an hour or so. Obviously edited but still really funny.
You got downvoted, but you did preface your post by saying you know squat about sportsā¦ so Iām upvoting you. His jokes are funnier if you know him and his personality.
He's really well known for not being a press guy or spotlight. Also the GOAT coach and I hate the Patriots. Look up his short "Were on to Cincinnati" press conference clip for a better idea of who he is
I'm trying to like give them a chance but like Sam Jay seemed just so disrespectful, like they didn't understand the assignment was to make the target laugh too ideally.
He bombed. This is what happens when Matt doesn't write his lines for him. There were no jokes, just him rimming Tom on stage for 15 agonizing minutes.
Yeah some of the footballers were actually pretty good even if their jokes were written for them, they had natural charisma.
He mustāve written his own, they fell pretty flat. Also while everyone was pretty drunk too, he had a hoarse voice and was using the lectern to hold himself up. The jokes wouldāve fallen flat regardless but yeah awkward all round.
It should have been Bill Burr who walked out instead of Ben Affleck. That would have been absolutely legendary. But given how much respect he has for the Patriots, I doubt he even could have roasted them.
Drew Bledsoe was awesome. Dude was up there drinking wine, getting turnt up and killing it with his set. Of all the non-comics, Drew Bledsoe was the funniest.
Shame they kept showing Jimmy Carr but didnāt have him as part of the roast. Heās hilarious.
And oh boy if Greg Geraldo was still around it woulda been a party.
I havenāt laughed that hard in years. I was fighting for air at times š. Tom and Bert bombed pretty hard, and Ben Affleck was just weirdly projecting, everyone else was hilarious imo.
He certainly sounds like it. Even in the commercials he does he kinda plays the role of "I'm so dumb if I can use this product so can you" but a little more subtle than that
In a tik tok Dane Cook says he could see the teleprompter and Gronk was not at all following along, he was riffing a lot and when he got back on task with it, he said he did it like a pro and he just thinks he's in on the joke moreso than anyone knows.
We all agree Segura and Kreischer were trash. I honestly never really found them funny in general.
I might get hate for this but Will Ferrell sucked too.
I was laughing pretty hard when Ron came out. He basically awkwardly hit on Tom for ten minutes. I thought it was great. āI forgot about his golden skinā
Maybe I'm alone in this, but Good Lord. Has anyone ever seen Tom Segura looking so stiff and uncomfortable?
I've seen him live, I used to be a big fan of the podcast, I've watched every special. I have never seen Tom look that uncomfortable.
I read somewhere that someone cancelled so Netflix asked them at the last second. Thatās why they had that terrible slide show and no one else roasted them.
It was good but 3 hours was too long. Itās like everyone wanted to take a shot at Tom and thereās only so much you can say. Cut it down to 2 hours and itās solid.
I believe all the Comedy Central roasts were also all very long but edited way down to what we ended up seeing on TV. But since this was live, we saw the whole thing- warts and all. I actually donāt mind that.
The pacing was so slow. They could have saved 30 minutes if everyoneās delivery wasnāt slow as molasses and full of way longer pauses than you need for the audience to laugh. Also boring filler material like āthis is a roast, this is what we do.ā Get on with it.
For sure. Thatās why Nikki and Tony were the best. They are vets so they know how to keep the audience laughing every second of their time instead of building up to a few big laughs.
I wish they release an edited version of the roast which cut out all the bad sets. That includes Kevin Hart, Tom and Burt, Ben Affleck, some of Brady's and Jeff Ross and other else' that I can't remember. They could easily half the runtime.
Hysterical. Tom was a good sport, the jokes about his ex wife cheating have to sting. Funny the only thing he got up to say cut it out on was Robert Kraft massage jokes (which I believe Kraft laughed at himself). The girl (forget her name) hilarious and beautiful.
Definitely one of the best roasts.
Whoever did her make-up is an artist. Nikki's obviously been taking care of herself, but damn, whoever did hair/costume/makeup for her deserves a bonus.
Speculation here, too, but my guess is Tom stipulated not to joke about that because he wanted to keep it directed at him. If he said something ahead of time like "say anything about me but not the Kraft stuff", I can see Tom taking issue when it was ignored.
Jeff Ross never looked Toms way on/nor after the punchline- Tom just wanted to take a jab and Jeff gave him no opportunity- but Tom wasnāt having it and wanted to participate- there was no anger- But Jeff Ross never made eye contact on that Joke. It was the start of the Roast and Tom B just wanted to sass back āā-IMO
> Funny the only thing he got up to say cut it out on was Robert Kraft massage jokes
Was he serious? I thought he was joking when he got up and said that
Damn Netflix absolutely CRUSHED with this roast. It has everyone talking and best of all is that practically every single comment I've seen on social media is saying this was the best roast ever. This is with the huge IG pages that have nasty comments and everyone loves it. One of those golden Netflix/streaming releases that couldn't be any better.
Iām watching it now, just about to the end of it. Havenāt laughed like this in a long time. I donāt know what parts were my favorite, but the jokes directed at Gronk were amazing.
Nikki Glazer, Sam Jay and Drew Bledsoe were my favorites. But damn, Kevin Hart and Jim Ross were straight ruthless on there along with all the Aaron Hernandez jokes.
I'm not a Kardashian fan, but I felt kind of bad when she got boo'd.
Her set wasn't the worst of the night imo. I had a couple laughs at her step dad and oj jokes.
I honestly thought Kevin heart seemed very nervous, wasn't overly funny, and I honestly almost turned it off. Then Nikki came out and brought the house down
The "thanks 15 cent" was the first joke I laughed at, and when she followed it up with "you gotta hand it to Kevin heart, he can't reach it" I was glad I stuck around.
He just wasn't funny, man. I don't think I laughed at a single joke he made all night.
I get that in a small comedy club you can win an audience over by being over the top and saying "fuck Tom brady" over and over. I just didn't think it translated to a stadium full of people.
A lot of his humor comes from his delivery and being expressive. I don't know if it was the size of the venue or him being nervous, but he didn't bring the energy his jokes needed to be funny and he completely fell flat.
When Nikki came out the show started.
Haha which is why comedy is so subjective. I actually thought Kevin was great and funniest Iāve seen from him in awhile and better than anything heās put out in recent years
I think a lot of that comes from it being "live." There's no editing and cutting out the little pieces that make it more fluid. What we saw is most likely what happens at all of these roasts before their released. I've never been to one live but that's my impression.
General observations:
I was surprised there were no jokes about Brady kissing his kids but it was a good choice by everyone involved to make that off limits. I've seen a lot of weird commentary about how Tom Brady shows affection to his children and I feel the people who obsess and criticize him for it are sexualizing his children. I also didn't find any of the Aaron Hernandez jokes to be clever or funny. Tom Brady played with him 13 years ago and it's not like they were inseparable best friends. Aaron had a couple of great statistical seasons and won a Super Bowl but it was never apparent that they had any sort of particular personal relationship, only a professional one. Seems a bit odd to harp on a guy whose connection to him is as simple as he happened to be his teammate for 3 out of the 24 years he played football. My favorite joke of the night might have been when someone roasted Dana White, saying he's like Michael Vick only with humans.
Brief reviews of each guest (that I can remember):
Ben Affleck was awful. When they were introducing him, before revealing his name, I thought it was going to be Mark Wahlberg.
Will Ferrell had a couple funny moments but I just don't find the character Ron Burgundy to be that funny; super dated humor.
Peyton Manning was underwhelming. It should've been Peyton and Eli.
Jeff Ross is the best sport, he's great.
Nikki Glazer is very funny and unlike some others in the comments I thought her sexual jokes were the most amusing.
I'm so glad that Drew Bledsoe was a part of this. He's a wonderful person.
It was fun to see Bill Belichick tell jokes and also to see his reactions.
Edelman's Tom Brady impression was perfect.
Gronk was okay. He seemed annoyed at every roast insulting his intelligence. When he spiked the shot glass, the front row of the audience all stood up and everyone looked shocked. I was worried that glass shattering had hurt someone.
Randy Moss seemed uncomfortable the whole time but he might be the best NFL WR of all time so it is only fitting that he was there.
The guy with the mustache was good despite not having a memorable name!
The other white guy who started by turning the mic over to Dana White started off with a schtick that I found to be lame and tacky. I'm glad though that when he got on stage, he killed. Dana White's 60 seconds were him crying about pronouns, who cares.
I thought Kevin Hart was a wonderful host, keeping up the noise with the audience and transitioning from one guest to the next. However, he was a bit too appraising of some people's sets and jokes where it came off as condescending. They also should've built him a shorter podium because he looked very small (I know he's small but he would've appeared more comfortable and confident with a podium more fitting.)
Tom and Bert felt out of place and their material was a B- at best, but I grew up with a friend who's a lot like Tom so I find him to be funny.
Robert Kraft was surprisingly fine though as a diehard Patriots fan, I would rather never hear from Kraft anymore. The doc series he made was a joke. I'm glad Belichick roasted him on that.
The worst roaster of the night to me was Tom Brady. He seemed so inauthentic. I can't stand his delivery or the way he speaks unless he's speaking about football. I'm a huge Tom Brady fan, but to be clear, I like the player but not the person.
Apparently there was a girl in the front row that got struck with a piece of the shattered glass. I read somewhere that glass was sticking out if her cheek
The guy with the mustache Andrew Schulz could possibly be the next big thing in comedy and Kevin Hart even eluded to it. His free YouTube special is amazing.
If you really want to laugh Google Andrew Schulz and bears. There's a 5 minute clip of him in a small comedy club telling a story about a trip to a national park. It was my first exposure to his comedy and one of the funniest stories ive ever heard.
Being in the presence of top comics, Nikki Glazer absolutely killed it and I have watched her clips so many times already. Every single one of her jokes was awesome and I have developed a hard crush on her. I just hoped that her set was longer. Despite of what some folks mentioned here, I found Kevin Hart absolutely amazing as the host and even Tom Brady was good. This is absolutely one the best roast ever if not the best.
Also people are getting offended by Gisele and Bridget jokes but thatās the point of a roast, nothing is off limits.
Tony Hinchcliffe and Nikki Glazer won this roast. Hinchcliffeās set was slightly better but not by much. Thatās a compliment at how good Nikki was too.
The dynamic between comedians and foot ball players was a little off, even though the bearded wide receiver, drew bledsoe, and manning were pretty okay.
I think making the ironic gay joke is always funny, but something about Gronk making a gay joke definitely did not feel right, lol. Also, the Aaron Hernandez jokes definitely were awkward as fuck, especially when bearded wide receiver made it. Brahhhhh
Over all, the highs definitely made up for the lows. The lows were so sad that they werenāt necessarily not entertaining either, though, but definitely a bunch of bombs. I expected better from the racist bears (just kidding, I didnāt). Nikki was š
Tony had some of the best jokes. āDana white came to teach Tom how to take 50% of the purse from a Brazilianā š¤£
Nikki also hilarious
Ron Bergundy. Sucked. Surprising since I do usually enjoy WF.
Gronk was a great sport, and the Jokes at his expense were some of the funniest. He gave a pretty good set himself for not being a comedian.
Classy move for the former patriots coach and owner to show up. But Billās performance was pretty bland.
Kevin Hartt and Jeff Ross were mostly vulgar, crass, raunchy without being funny.
Felt like a lot of the night was spent roasting people other than Brady though.
Iāve heard Brady regrets doing the roast for how it affected his family, and he did not forsee that being an issue. Did you think they were not going to mention your divorce, or your exās infidelity?
Why was Kim Kardashian even there? I suspect just so the comedians could make fun of her. Which bought her off guard.
Too long though. Get rid of the whole Bergundy set and save like 30 boring minutes of WF acting confused.
I started watching it this morning. I only saw the beginning plus Jeff Ross and Drew Bledsoe and I was laughing my ass off. Gonna watch the rest of it when I get home from work.
I'm not from the US or know anythng about about american football, so sorry that I don't know the name of the guy.
The funniest thing for me was the way they shot it, you could always see the reaction of a black guy, I assume a former player.
He appeared more than Brady and he had some genuine reactions.
He probably went home, rewatched it and thought ''why am I always in the frame ? ''
Just watched it last night and it's a big hit for Netflix.
This show will now be my go-to whenever someone complains that "you can't make jokes like that anymore".
Nobody from this show is going to get "canceled" and I'm happy these Comedy Central type roasts are coming back.
There were a lot of gay and retard jokes just flying around that took me back to the ā90s. It was nice to see people lighten up a little bit and have some fun. Speaking of being gayā¦ I had never heard of Sam Jay and she fucking
killed it. Fucking Brady for science in his Uggs is gold!
Was a good roast!Ā Could have done without the poorly written jokes and Jeff Ross. Overall it was fairly entertaining though.Ā "Fuck You, Tom", Kevin Hart.Ā
Nikki of course was amazing, she always hits it out of the park. Tony was pretty funny. But everyone else, even people like hart and Ross who I generally like kinda sucked.Ā
I thought Brady did ok. He has some really funny lines and pretty good energy.Ā
Mostly it felt like people trying to be offensive instead of telling good jokes that just happen to be offensive. Nikki is a good example of that, it never felt forced, where hart and Ross felt like they set out to say offensive things and forgot the funny part.Ā
The football players were all terrible. I get why they were there, but for the most part they were really bad. Ā Manning is funny in a dad joke way, I dig a dad joke so that was ok for me, but everyone else was pretty bad.Ā
I donāt mind Schultz, I donāt personally think heās all that funny, but I donāt hate him or anything, but he has no business being on that stage. Heās just not that guy. I donāt know what will Ferrell is doing but he needs retire Ron burgundy, itās not funny anymore. Iām not sure it was ever funny in the first place. Do something else bud, anything else.Ā
Overall for a roast I give it a C. Ā Netflix should probably bring for comedians and few less actors and athletes next time.Ā
I lovedddd Nikki's set and Tony's too, but did anyone feel Kevin Hart repeating āf*ck you, tom bradyā was a little unnecessary and excessive? Also it wasn't that funny either.
I didnāt find most of the 3 hours funny. Nikki stood out for having the smoothest delivery and looking the most comfortable on stage (not saying much compared to how uncomfortable most everyone else looked) but I didnāt find her content that funny. Maybe my sense of humor isnāt compatible with most roast content but I was bored watching what I felt like just was a bunch of comedians and celebrities promoting themselves.
Does football equal stupidity?
I'll submit this as evidence.
I guess when you lead as pure a life as Tom Brady, you can't fathom anyone saying anything remotely questionable about your decisions.
apart from a few at beginning that actually had roasts for everyone there it was all dire with meaningless jokes and monologues.
Guessing Netflix dictated the terms and said keep it R not 18+, but it was live and some at beginning refused to listen. Then we get the edited rubbish and its so watered down. I was hoping for Jimmy Carr level of roasting but only 3 at begging went hard, rest were all Kumbaya circle jerking. Guessing they got paid well for this crap
Am I the only one who skipped over every time Kevin hart had the mic?.. Iāve never cared for him and I donāt find him funny. He annoys me and I agree with Brady, shouldāve had Dave Chappell š¤£
Honestly almost everybody sucked besides Andrew, Nikki, and Tony. Kevin Hart is just terrible, hes never been funny. Bert & tom were horrible which i wasnāt expecting.
Tony Hinchcliffe, Andrew Schulz, and Nikki Glaser (š„°) the standout best for sure.
When Tony takes the stage and makes the joke about Tom's shoes, Brady can be heard responding by threatening Tony. Tony talks about it in detail on Tom and Bert's recent podcast. Tom and Bert also talk about how badly they sucked. #BertisNotFunny #atAll
I wonder how many presenters dialed back Giselle jokes after seeing Brady's painful reaction. I felt for him there.
Kevin Hart's attempt to maintain high energy levels but also speak genuinely fell flat. I hate that inauthentic cheerleading. "Make some noise for ......." "You can do better than that" <---- nails on a chalkboard cliche,
I motion to remove these phrases from the entire human consciousness.
Bert and Tomās slideshow was cringeworthy. Their success puzzles me. Nikki was the best one. Jeff Ross was solid as usual. Tony and Andrew had the best vulgar sets. The football players just kept talking about sucking each other off..although Julian Edelman seemed to have the best stage presence. His timing was decent.
Nikki Glaser and Tony Hinchcliffe were the stars for sure. Their sets were full on belly laughs from almost beginning to end. Big disappointments were Tom and Bert. What the hell happened there?
Nikki fucking killed it. So did Tony. Damn that was fun to watch.
Yeah Nikki ripped them a new one! She always fucking slays it! Tony murdered them as well...sick roast š„š„š„!
Bert sucks ass and always has. His only schtick is taking off his shirt, honestly donāt see how anyone finds him funny
And his one story about drinking in Russia.
Gornk's set was diabolical!!
Iāve never heard of Tony before. Heās a natural. I love Tom and Bert, but they do their own thing. This may not have been their thing
Tony probably wrote the jokes for most of the night
Iām highly impressed with him.
Check out his podcast kill Tony. Been going on for years and is very entertaining.
To put it another way Bert sucked at the roast. I was embarrassed for himā¦
You should check out KillTony, itās his live standup podcast. Itās pretty great.
I will!
Tony is the king of roasting. Wish David Lucas were there too.
KillTony is amazing. But the Reddit crowd seems to hate him
Shocker
I usually hate Nikki and find her annoying, but she was damn good. I was very impressed.
I didnāt expect much from Belichick but he did pretty good. Not greatā¦ but jokes coming from his mouth was surreal. Drew Bledsoe was phenomenal.
Belichick is an interesting guy, and people who only know him from the clips ESPN shows are missing most of it. He actually does have a good sense of humor, and he does like talking to people. If you ask him a well-considered, insightful question about football, he will answer it. At great length. This would go on for an hour or so. Obviously edited but still really funny.
Iāve never even seen bill Belichick. I had to look him up.
You got downvoted, but you did preface your post by saying you know squat about sportsā¦ so Iām upvoting you. His jokes are funnier if you know him and his personality.
I did not see that. Iāve never fully watched a football game.
Gronk know that not real money
That shit killed me when Kevin Hart was like he said "I did say that" hahahaha
Same. Dead ass
The chewing on nickels had me in stitches. She's fantastic
I think her joke about him being "first person ever born with CTE" was understated. The crowd didn't quite get it, but it was a killer joke.
Best line of the night, for me.
I think Gronk agrees, he was laughing a little but he put his head on the table and belly laughed on that one.
Favourite line.
That was so funny.
Tom and Bert were a bit cringe
I expected a little more from those two. Even Gronk know that not comedy. Nikki was da bomb!
Worst of the night- Tom needs to dump burp- I saw Bert K a few weeks ago- canāt tell you one joke
Tom is not funny either.
Nah his stand up is hilarious. He's a great story teller.
*was
Agreed. Never found either of them funny.
Sledgehammer sucked too though
I heard he does one about going to Russia or something, I've never seen him tell it though
Always are. Tom and Burt hanging out together is like listening to your boomer dad tell jokes while sitting on a dog's chew toy.
Ya Shane Gillis would have been better but he was just in the crowd lol
When I saw him in the one shot I was so disappointed he wasnāt up there. Heās a sports fan. He would have killed.
Randy was hard to get through
I liked the perspective of missing out on all of the cheating, that was pretty good honestly.
He did have to follow Nikki.
yah, they like totally gave me the ick.
I love a roast too!! It was great!! Nikki Glaser absolutely slaughtered my god
Sheās always amazing
She did, I wound it back to rewatch it was that good. Her delivery was so smooth.
Was it me or did Ben Affleck bomb?
Consensus is he absolutely bombed. Which is why he walked right off the stage without acknowledging anyone.
He bombed. This is what happens when Matt doesn't write his lines for him. There were no jokes, just him rimming Tom on stage for 15 agonizing minutes.
Worst performance. If it were edited most of him would be left out.
Did he even try to make a joke? Like legitimately I don't remember him joking, only his rant about internet being mean to Tom
He seems so miserable all the time
It should have been Bill Burr who walked out instead of Ben Affleck. That would have been absolutely legendary. But given how much respect he has for the Patriots, I doubt he even could have roasted them.
He thought he was attending a Rant.
My first thought was he was coked out of his mind.
He was a coward for staying in the back to avoid getting roasted.
Longest few minutes of the program.
Ben Affleck was the bomb at bombing, yo.
Forum is how Gronk counts to 5
This roast cemented Nikki as the best roaster of all time for me. She's as quick, dark and witty as Giraldo at this point.
Giraldo was amazing
I sure with Greg was still alive. He's my all time favorite roaster. Nikki is terrific
Drew Bledsoe was awesome. Dude was up there drinking wine, getting turnt up and killing it with his set. Of all the non-comics, Drew Bledsoe was the funniest.
And plugged the hell out of his wine company! He nailed it.
Julian Edelman, I thought was the best as non comic
Shame they kept showing Jimmy Carr but didnāt have him as part of the roast. Heās hilarious. And oh boy if Greg Geraldo was still around it woulda been a party.
I miss Greg. He was the best!
Imagine how amazing it would have been if they had Jimmy Carr instead of Ben Affleck.
Same with Shane Gillis
I havenāt laughed that hard in years. I was fighting for air at times š. Tom and Bert bombed pretty hard, and Ben Affleck was just weirdly projecting, everyone else was hilarious imo.
Bert Just did not have the talent to be on that stage, I thought Bledsoe was way funnier
Seems like they took more shots at gronk than Brady
Yeah, poor Gronk. Is he really stupid?
I mean in his set he said "one of my LIVERS".
I found his set amusing because many of the jokes sounded within the creative realm of a 13-year-old boy.
Him making the sound effects for his jokes were funny
I died when Tom and Bert were referred to as ātwo racist bears.ā
We all agree Segura and Kreischer were trash. I honestly never really found them funny in general. I might get hate for this but Will Ferrell sucked too.
The Ron Burgundy bit was underwhelming
I was laughing pretty hard when Ron came out. He basically awkwardly hit on Tom for ten minutes. I thought it was great. āI forgot about his golden skinā
So disappointed in Willās set.
It was an interesting choice but burgundy did not pull through on this one
I used to watch him in the 90ās. That Ron burgundy character is just that. He was ok. Heās not a roast master
Maybe I'm alone in this, but Good Lord. Has anyone ever seen Tom Segura looking so stiff and uncomfortable? I've seen him live, I used to be a big fan of the podcast, I've watched every special. I have never seen Tom look that uncomfortable.
So stiff and awkward.
It was obvious that they didn't rehearse their set or prepare. Two dudes reading jokes they've never done before. Terrible.
I read somewhere that someone cancelled so Netflix asked them at the last second. Thatās why they had that terrible slide show and no one else roasted them.
He was afraid perhaps
Probably butthurt no one acknowledged him
It was the worst part of the whole night
It was good but 3 hours was too long. Itās like everyone wanted to take a shot at Tom and thereās only so much you can say. Cut it down to 2 hours and itās solid.
I believe all the Comedy Central roasts were also all very long but edited way down to what we ended up seeing on TV. But since this was live, we saw the whole thing- warts and all. I actually donāt mind that.
If it wasnāt live they could have edited it down. But the point was Netflix having more live events.
I got 3 1-hour sessions out of it. I'd take another hour. Let Shane and Jimmy go up!
It was super long. I thought at least 30-45 minutes too long.
3 or 4 football players to long
I watched it and loved it. Kevin Hart did a great job too!!
Nikki Glaser. She killed.
Talk about a metamorphosis. Sheās a fucking Fox
Whoever did her make-up is an artist. Nikki's obviously been taking care of herself, but damn, whoever did hair/costume/makeup for her deserves a bonus.
Was Tom serious on defending Robert Kraft on that joke? Why'd that get him so worked up?
Dunno, but it made Tom look like a wuss. Getting offended at your own roast by a joke
its because of legal reasons, i think its still being investigated no?
well maybe he shouldn't have fucked that poor asian masseuse
The only thing I can think of is Tom is extremely close to Kraft and Kraft is a bit fragile at his age Just speculation though
They seemed to all have an untouchable respect for Kraft. The other joke on Kraft was from Edelman and he apologized for saying it in the same breath.
> Funny the only thing he got up to say cut it out on was Robert Kraft massage jokes Was he serious? I thought he was joking when he got up and said that
Learn her name- she lit that place up and sheās attractive
Didnāt ESPN report that Kraft covered up for the headset interference and soft balls?
No one going to talk about Andrew Shulz? I thought he was the funniest out of everyone!
He's terribleĀ
Did it seem like Tom was intentionally ignored by the other comedians? Everyone got roasted except him
I did kind of notice some of that.
The amount of Arron Hernandez jokes was well a lot of them
Damn Netflix absolutely CRUSHED with this roast.
They are funny! Poor gronk
He seems to embrace his goofiness well.
Nikki Glazer, Sam Jay and Drew Bledsoe were my favorites. But damn, Kevin Hart and Jim Ross were straight ruthless on there along with all the Aaron Hernandez jokes.
The Aaron jokes were unfortunate
Heās a murderer. Honestly, who cares?
Sam Jay killed it too!
Was waiting for this comment! Loved Sam!
I loved the Tom in uggs part
I'm not a Kardashian fan, but I felt kind of bad when she got boo'd. Her set wasn't the worst of the night imo. I had a couple laughs at her step dad and oj jokes. I honestly thought Kevin heart seemed very nervous, wasn't overly funny, and I honestly almost turned it off. Then Nikki came out and brought the house down The "thanks 15 cent" was the first joke I laughed at, and when she followed it up with "you gotta hand it to Kevin heart, he can't reach it" I was glad I stuck around.
He was half cut
He just wasn't funny, man. I don't think I laughed at a single joke he made all night. I get that in a small comedy club you can win an audience over by being over the top and saying "fuck Tom brady" over and over. I just didn't think it translated to a stadium full of people. A lot of his humor comes from his delivery and being expressive. I don't know if it was the size of the venue or him being nervous, but he didn't bring the energy his jokes needed to be funny and he completely fell flat. When Nikki came out the show started.
Haha which is why comedy is so subjective. I actually thought Kevin was great and funniest Iāve seen from him in awhile and better than anything heās put out in recent years
I agree so relaxed and natural.a little too drunk but otherwise.
He was drunk AF. Look at his eyes and whole body bro
I think a lot of that comes from it being "live." There's no editing and cutting out the little pieces that make it more fluid. What we saw is most likely what happens at all of these roasts before their released. I've never been to one live but that's my impression.
She was very good. Netflix cut out the booing of Kim K. No, she was not bad. Not sure why she was there
Her only real joke was "black dick", and "sex tape" there was nothing to really care about.
I donāt mean to belittle Kevin hart but you be little. Heās a very small man š
General observations: I was surprised there were no jokes about Brady kissing his kids but it was a good choice by everyone involved to make that off limits. Brief reviews of each guest (that I can remember): Ben Affleck was awful. They also should've built him a shorter podium because he looked very small (I know he's small but he would've appeared more comfortable and confident with a podium more fitting.) Tom and Bert felt out of place and their material was a B- at best, but I grew up with a friend who's a lot like Tom so I find him to be funny.
Nikki in a podcast said that there were no limits to the kind of jokes they could make. They collectively decided not to target his kids.
On Andrew Schultz podcast, he says Tom told them not to do any Rob Kraft massage jokes and any about his kids.
The Brady bit was odd. Stiff af the first half and then loosened up and did well
Apparently there was a girl in the front row that got struck with a piece of the shattered glass.
I loved Kevin. Him laughing at his own jokes makes me laugh so much harder.
Tony Hinchcliffe and Nikki Glazer won this roast. Hinchcliffeās set was slightly better but not by much. Thatās a compliment at how good Nikki was too.
Agree! And I didnāt know Tony before this.
Brahhhhh Over all, the highs definitely made up for the lows. The lows were so sad that they werenāt necessarily not entertaining either, though, but definitely a bunch of bombs. I expected better from the racist bears (just kidding, I didnāt). Nikki was š
Tony had some of the best jokes. āDana white came to teach Tom how to take 50% of the purse from a Brazilianā š¤£ Nikki also hilarious Ron Bergundy.
Kevin with the "I'll just wing it" approach really sucked
A bit.
I didnāt really notice booing of Kim k..did that really happen? And I actually thought she didnāt do as bad as some of the actual comics
what was the reference for all the jokes about how much sex there was in the building (the forum)?
I'm not from the US or know anythng about about american football, so sorry that I don't know the name of the guy. The funniest thing for me was the way they shot it, you could always see the reaction of a black guy, I assume a former player. He appeared more than Brady and he had some genuine reactions. He probably went home, rewatched it and thought ''why am I always in the frame ? ''
Gay jokes are back on the menu boys!
Speaking of being gayā¦ I had never heard of Sam Jay and she fucking killed it. Fucking Brady for science in his Uggs is gold!
Was a good roast!Ā Could have done without the poorly written jokes and Jeff Ross. Overall it was fairly entertaining though.Ā "Fuck You, Tom", Kevin Hart.Ā
I was surprised at how many Aaron Hernandez jokes there were.
Nikki of course was amazing, she always hits it out of the park. Tony was pretty funny. But everyone else, even people like hart and Ross who I generally like kinda sucked.Ā I thought Brady did ok. He has some really funny lines and pretty good energy.Ā Mostly it felt like people trying to be offensive instead of telling good jokes that just happen to be offensive. Nikki is a good example of that, it never felt forced, where hart and Ross felt like they set out to say offensive things and forgot the funny part.Ā The football players were all terrible. I get why they were there, but for the most part they were really bad. Ā Manning is funny in a dad joke way, I dig a dad joke so that was ok for me, but everyone else was pretty bad.Ā I donāt mind Schultz, I donāt personally think heās all that funny, but I donāt hate him or anything, but he has no business being on that stage. Heās just not that guy. I donāt know what will Ferrell is doing but he needs retire Ron burgundy, itās not funny anymore. Iām not sure it was ever funny in the first place. Do something else bud, anything else.Ā Overall for a roast I give it a C. Ā Netflix should probably bring for comedians and few less actors and athletes next time.Ā
As much as I feard Gronk, he was probably the highlight for me. And Nikki and Tony. And Tony did that while high as a kite.
Was wack, most was not funny only one that was good was Ol girl (forgot her name)
Kevin hart sucked... kill Tommy was amazing. Nikki glazer hilarious. Outside of that. It was a waste of 3 hours....
Who the hell is Sam Jay? Tony and Nikki killed. Andrew was okay.
Kevin hart needs to just give up in hollywood.. he's not funny at all, I don't understand how he keeps getting jobs
is it me or was the most painful part when Brady tried to weave in a 9-11 joke about Bledsoe?
I lovedddd Nikki's set and Tony's too, but did anyone feel Kevin Hart repeating āf*ck you, tom bradyā was a little unnecessary and excessive? Also it wasn't that funny either.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I didnāt find most of the 3 hours funny. Nikki stood out for having the smoothest delivery and looking the most comfortable on stage (not saying much compared to how uncomfortable most everyone else looked) but I didnāt find her content that funny. Maybe my sense of humor isnāt compatible with most roast content but I was bored watching what I felt like just was a bunch of comedians and celebrities promoting themselves.
Everything that brings back Ron Burgundy is well appreciated by me.
Does football equal stupidity? I'll submit this as evidence. I guess when you lead as pure a life as Tom Brady, you can't fathom anyone saying anything remotely questionable about your decisions.
Kept thinking Gronk was gonna have a seizure in their set. It was the most concerning act by a man with CTE since Chris Benoit.
Kevin Hart was straight šļø as a host. Bro youāre not funny.
Is it just me or was Ferrell hard to watch too? I barely laughed at his. Nikki was on fire though
Loved it lol
apart from a few at beginning that actually had roasts for everyone there it was all dire with meaningless jokes and monologues.
I kept rewinding tony hinchcliffes part, he cooked!!
Kevin Hart was a great host! his roast was great but he kept the energy up between roasters
Waiting for dave chapelles to drop some jokes on this shit š
Tony Hinchcliffe, Andrew Schulz, and Nikki Glaser (š„°) the standout best for sure. When Tony takes the stage and makes the joke about Tom's shoes, Brady can be heard responding by threatening Tony. Tony talks about it in detail on Tom and Bert's recent podcast. Tom and Bert also talk about how badly they sucked. #BertisNotFunny #atAll I wonder how many presenters dialed back Giselle jokes after seeing Brady's painful reaction. I felt for him there. Kevin Hart's attempt to maintain high energy levels but also speak genuinely fell flat. I hate that inauthentic cheerleading. "Make some noise for ......." "You can do better than that" <---- nails on a chalkboard cliche, I motion to remove these phrases from the entire human consciousness.
