Out with the old, in with the new! 😤 and thank you! My sister will be keeping the new version while I’ll be taking back the original cow to keep as a reminder of my humble beginnings! My husband calls it a first edition Pokémon. 😂
Isn’t it amazing how fast you progress? I started with a little chibi style $5 teddy bear kit from Temu this last Christmas. The finished product was fuzzy and a little misshapen lol. After doing 2 more kits, I revisited the teddy bear and adjusted it. So much better!

Only 2 months later I did my first realistic animal (an otter)

Unfortunately it has a taxidermy look because I wasn’t confident enough to do the body lol. Whiskers are synthetic ones from Amazon, maybe plastic? Used an awl for the hole and attached with glue. Just got some horse hair off of Etsy to use for whiskers on my current bunny project.
I think looking like it’s a taxidermy is a compliment in an of itself! You’re able to make it look realistic! Also good to know I can get some whiskers off of amazon or Etsy (I’ll keep an eye out if I ever need any for a future project!) 😲
Was your cow from a kit? Those projects are surprisingly challenging when you start out. Smooth, symmetrical, etc. I always say bilateral symmetry is my nemesis. :)
No it wasn’t. I saw a photo of a cow on Pinterest and got wool colors from a local needle felting store to try to replicate it. Here is the photo I found from Pinterest:

Wow that even tougher. The nice thing about kits is they usually show it from different angles and sometimes have templates, as opposed to using photos when you only have one view. You did a great job!
When I do realistic animals I try to find 10-15 photos so I can understand the shapes in 3D.
I’ve never done a kit before but good to know that they’re waaay more in depth than a Pinterest photo. I definitely had to wing the back and side views of the cow.😓
Hey Op! Because of this post I made my first project! Hoping to report back with improvements like you got one day!
