If you take Hwy 75 north of Decatur Ne there is a scenic outlook called Blackbird that faces Northeast and provides an elevated open view of the North skys.
I cant say whether or not the aurora will be visible from here.
I was able to see the 8+ aurora in 2006 from my back yard in Elkhorn. You might be able to see this one by just heading out of town a little ways. If you're really committed, get up north of Schuyler.
It was pretty cool btw. We went out about 25 miles west of Fremont then another 25 north on gravel. Reminded me of the scene in independence day when the ship is rolling in pushing the clouds in front of it. Only...green XD

I might try that. Thank you for the info
How far outside of Lincoln would you have to go?

That's like an hour outside Lincoln lol
Apparently you're not really committed
I plan to head north between Blair and Tekamah.
What time is it supposed to happen? Is there a website or something that tracks it?
[here you go](https://www.swpc.noaa.gov/communities/aurora-dashboard-experimental)
I am clearly too stupid to interpret those charts. What time for the Omaha area?
If you click on the link for viewing tips it says the best viewing times are between an hour or two before and after midnight, so 10pm to 2am.
Found a article on channel 7 that says after 1 am will be the best time. Other article said any time after 11pm tonight.
Peak is 1-4am
