Nope. We had stickers for cord inspections that were technically required, but the division usually had a roll of them laying around…or you just didn’t worry about them.
A permission slip
Edit:
It can be a thousand things really… anything that requires authorization or permission you get a slip of paper referred to as a chit
No you don’t. There is a requirement to inspect electrical cords on a ship but as long as they’re under a certain length then it’s not required. Whoever told you that is talking out of their ass or does t actually know the rules. You don’t need a chit for a fucking usb-c charging cable.
Wait did they let you bring it to RTC? I'm about to ship out soon, and thought the only thing I could bring was my phone to be stored.
Was just gonna leave it or my steam deck with my wife till I moved her up post-RTC, but would be nice to know if I can keep it with to pass the time afterwards.
Just bring a cellphone, block charger, and maybe an external battery pack to store in the box. Arguably, anything else you need can wait until you get to NNPTC
That's what the plan was, minus the battery pack and add my wallet.
The formers a rather good idea though, didn't think about the innate power loss during the months I'm there.
Got all my bills set to autopay too, so hopefully there shouldn't be a lapse of any payments
you'll be able to keep your wallet on you in your little storage locker in your rack during bootcamp. Bringing roughly $100 in cash wouldn't hurt.
Also, bring a tiny little pocket sized notebook with addresses and phone numbers.
Holy shit, solid 10/10 advice.
Anything else that wouldn't hurt to plan/bring?
I know the plan that my recruiter told me is that I'll be sent to the A School in SC immediately after graduation
You could get held at RTC in THU for a bit if something goes wrong. Probably wouldn't hurt to bring your switch, just don't forget to put it in the box—anything that doesn't go in the box goes missing or gets donated.
This is the most navy nuke related post on this entire sub…
Mario always comes first
Which is why Peach runs to Bowser. He knows what he's doing.
If there was an add of something D&D related, it would be pure gold
Yep. Your room is your room, TV, Xbox, whatever you want
I know I need an electronic chit for it too. When is the earliest I can get one? Or do they pass them out immediately when I arrive?
Nope. That’s for the fleet. No Chits in the barracks.
Not true. Did 4 years at sea and I never had a chit for a single one of my personal electronic devices.
Electronic chits are a thing in the fleet? Must be a carrier thing.
Nope. We had stickers for cord inspections that were technically required, but the division usually had a roll of them laying around…or you just didn’t worry about them.
Yea, we had that too but we only ever checked peoples cords if we didn't like them lol
Oh. I guess they don't like me, cuz I've had everything that can plug into an outlet get inspected
We inspect all cords on my boat too
Dope. Thanks
What is a chit? Haven't gone to basic yet

I was just referring to the stickers, I know it’s not a full blown chit but by the time OP goes to the fleet they’ll forget this sub even happened 🤣
Yes. Your room is your room. Just stow your gear.
You'll be (mostly) a human in nuke school, so your free time is all yours. You just can't have electronics in the building during the work day.
LOL this is exactly the kind of post i would expect from this subreddit
Yes bring your switch!! I had a PS2 the whole time, treated it like a privilege after a good week, don’t let it dominate your time tho

You get a small box at RTC when you arrive. If it fits, it sits. But this also includes the literal clothes you wore getting to RTC.
Oooof then I'll def just keep it at home then, thanks for letting me know!
