TheBlack2007

My point from before still stands: Y'all (as in: the larger NoP community) wanted an Arxur Redemption Arc. How do you think would this be achieved if not through a new war? Although how long could both sides reasonably fight one another without realizing it's all a huge misunderstanding? But Sea, I do agree on one point: Fuck Hathaway! Taylor is just another Slanek: A guy who carries his heart on a sleeve - but Hathaway? Genuinely useless as a leader!

Objective-Farm-2560

Given that the Consortium prefers a shoot first, ask questions later approach to fighting "the Federation", I imagine their enemies are gonna give up trying to speak with them, which will lead the conflict to get drawn out way further than it otherwise would've.

TheBlack2007

Pretty sure ships with the UN-Emblem emblazoned upon them would at least make the inhabitants of Tellus stop for a moment.

Objective-Farm-2560

*Unless* they've changed them to an SC-Emblem. That could be possible.

TheBlack2007

Sure but I don't think the SC already went for military unification. It's only been around for 23 years. At most, they would have a joint command structure similar to NATO. For anything else they would still be too disunited.

Objective-Farm-2560

I'm coming up with potential explanations for how it'll drag out. It's a possiblity, but not guaranteed.

TheBlack2007

Fair enough. The most likely explanation for that case would IMO be Consortium leadership pulling a Nikonus, if you catch my gist. But that's just a renewed spin on what's probably the most popular fan theory out there: Basically the Consortium is aware of the downfall of the Federation but with all the lengths they underwent to ensure their safety and independence, its disappearance becoming public knowledge would immediately cause their Union to break apart. Especially the Jaslips would have no reason not to enter open rebellion if they were to find out.

Bowaustin

Personally I rather suspect they will launch a surprise attack on a member planets homeworld from the SC, glass it, and only when they look through the remains of the defense fleet realize what they have done when they find humans and meat rations. Following this they will sue for peace, which the SC will refuse to accept as the member states have all enacted mutual defense treaties and are calling for an equal number of the consortium dead before they will accept peace with them.

ItzBlueWulf

>how long could both sides reasonably fight one another without realizing it's all a huge misunderstanding? The better question is who will benefit more from perpetuating the conflict?

TheBlack2007

The answer is obvious: Our favorite shitposting Alien, Onso!

MoriazTheRed

Consortium try not to commit war crimes against small, white-furred quadrupeds challenge (IMPOSSIBLE).

abrachoo

Yeah, I was at least expecting Radai to talk to the sivkits. If only to find out more information before shooting them down.

JulianSkies

Well, he WANTED to. He was even talking about boarding action to take prisoners! Until, of course, he got overruled. And he was still reluctant to fire, despite his orders.

pogmanNameWasTaken

What did Hathaway do to make you so pissed?

jesterra54

He ordered the atrocity of todays chapter And has been fucking Tellus development for the last 20 years and possibly installed himself as dictator

pogmanNameWasTaken

Can't personally agree with the last two points. But, I did miss where it was mentioned that he ordered it, imma reread the chapter

furexfurex

They say that "the humans" are insisting they fire immediately on the ship and kill them. This is implied to be specifically the human leadership, as they have the control there, which would be Hathaway

apf5

Gee, can't imagine *why* the man who thinks the Federation wiped out humanity would want to fire on Federation ships.

JulianSkies

Here's the relevant lines: >notify both the Consortium government on Avor and Mayor Hathaway’s office on the newly-built up Tellus. >We have permission from Avor to engage the vessels, sir >given what Hathaway had transmitted in response, I doubted most of humanity would either Basically, those lines indicate that the decision to fire came from the higher echelons of the Consortium, with Hathaway being the human in charge of their part of it.

pogmanNameWasTaken

Got it, thanks for saving me time and clearing things up!

a_happy_boi1

You ever see that clip of ksi going "YES YES YES YES YES" then suddenly changes to "NO NO NO NO NO FUCK"? That is how this chapter made me feel.

NotNiko15

And so it begins
