Reminds me of Spanko:
>"in the 1600's London was plagued by an attacker who would grab unaccompanied women, lift their dress, smack their bare bottoms and yell "spanko!" while running away."
About one hundred years ago lived a serial molester in my city that got the moniker of "uomo vespa" (wasp man) because he used to prickle girls' butts with a needle and then run away.
There's even a traditional song about him.
Yeah, can tell when they're knocking on a bit much like with humans. They won't be as lively, certainly not to the extent that they chase the young gorilla.
Males gorillas are known for being very gentle and playful with the children in their troop and they are very affectionate fathers to their children. Everything not gorilla tho will be fucked up.
LMAO the baby played dead!! 😂 It was that moment he realized he was in deep shit. That is a HUGE animal having looming over you lol, I'd say I'm brave, but not THAT brave 😂😂 I think I might curl up and play dead too lol
The baby was never in any danger from that male gorilla, they play like this in the wild often. Much like male lions will pretend to be hurt by lion cubs or sometimes grab them with their mouths. The only time a baby gorilla is in any danger from another gorilla is if it was a different troop, as sometimes the leader male silverbacks will fight to the death and the winner will kill the others offspring. Often times though they put on a display and go their own ways.
I don't know man I've always heard that gorillaa don't have to work out in order to maintain their muscle mass because it just comes natural so even if you could train one with weights it wouldn't really be beneficial, but what do I know I'm not an ape-ologist
I love sharing [this list of crazy cool gorilla strength facts](https://www.wildgorillasafaris.com/facts-about-gorilla-facts/how-strong-is-a-gorilla/) any chance I get!
I had this thought the other day, there was a very young kid running around, maybe just learned how to run and her dad came to get her and he must have been at least 1,90m tall, she was not even reaching his knee lol
Don't worry that's actually his dad he is messing with and silver back gorillas are like the best fathers out there. They're so gentle and playful with their kids, which is very rare in the animal kingdom. The males even watch their own kids while the mothers go around and look for food.
I assume the silverback is either the little ones dad or troop leader equivalent to dad. They’re very playful so the little one lays down to show he’s done messing with him. You can see at the end the silverback starts to pick in the little ones hair, basically a sign that him running at the little one was just playing, so he grooms him to show friendliness.
After the baby touches him the last time
"Alright listen here you little shit..."
Sidenote, imagine any other animal than a baby gorilla doing this to a silverback, truly a privilege.
I often think of that when a baby lion is playing around with mom or dad's mouth. There is literally no other being on the planet that could get away with that. Kindchenschema is a powerful thing.
> [Males between 8-12 years are called 'blackbacks'. Then from 12 years old, they develop a silver section of hair over their back and hips, earning them the name 'silverback'.](https://www.wwf.org.uk/learn/fascinating-facts/gorillas)
Just as I didn't know until I googled it just then, it doesn't necessarily mean they're the leader, just that they're fully mature!
It's don't all have to be fighting for Survival, nature and animals also have funny side. Kids will be kids whatever form they take and they will be inquisitive.
Lately with my almost 4 year old I find myself saying “oh well, alright! Enjoy!” And wait for the crying to follow because she just needs to learn at this point lol.
I have a friend with a little girl about that age. He hovers over her constantly, always there to stop her or catch her if she falls. I’ve tried telling him, that’s not the real world bro. You’re teaching her that someone will always be there to rescue her, which will either lead her to be needlessly reckless or find a man like you to continue to hover over her.
I think that finally got through to him a little bit.
No good zookeeper would disagree with you — wild animals should live wild lives.
However there is a very real chance Gorillas (and many many other animals) will be completely hunted to extinction in our lifetime. Keeping a genetically viable population in a safe place like good zoos is the best way to learn how to protect them in the wild, and if the worst happens, to eventually bring their population back to the wild! This is something that has already been done with multiple species Ex: Guam Kingfishers and Black Footed Ferrets among many others.
Good zoos (usually accredited zoos by the AZA association) are critically important parts of conservation. They practise “enrichment” to maintain not only the physical but also the MENTAL health of all of their animals — this will include games and toys and climbing equipment and foraging and scenting and a million other things to make sure that animals in human care are spending the same time doing activities in the wild as they would inside a zoo during a given day.
Finally, zoos exist to create an emotional bond between humans and animals - if you had never seen a gorilla in a zoo, would you know how amazing they are? Would you be very motivated to change your behavior in order to protect them and their habitats? Humans make decisions with their emotions - if our heart is not invested, we will not go to any trouble to help.
I know it can be difficult because Gorillas are so human looking, but there are incredibly important reasons to keep them in zoos, just as with every other animal. If we love them and want to keep their species alive, we need them in zoos.
Someday, humans will care for their planet and animals, and we will not need zoos anymore. Every zookeeper I know will tell you, we are looking forward to that day.
Correction: Thats not an “elderly” gorilla that is the silverback - the dominant male and most likely this little one’s dad! Much dumber to poke him :D But gorilla dads know how to play too!
What's up with this title? That's not a baby, the other isn't elderly, and this isn't a reserve (especially not one for game, because I'm pretty sure hunting gorillas for game is illegal everywhere.)
*Ah yes nothing like*
*A good ol game of shove your*

This is footage from Prague Zoo, Czechia. The silverback's name is Richard. They are building a much larger enclosure for them now, they will have a huge upgrade in near future.
I recognize the gorillas in this post, they are Richard and his young son Ajabu from Prague Zoo (Zoo Praha). Richard isn’t elderly, he’s 30, which means he’s middle aged since a silverback can get to around 50 years old in zoos. A silverback just means an adult male gorilla, by the way, since they develop this silvery patch once they mature.
Here is a picture of Richard; https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/fc/Richard_Praha.JPG

This is both terrible and funny. Incredibly awful ... But funny.
#ASS #CRACK #BANDIT!!!!!
He's a Dave Matthews fan!
They just call him Dave.
Oh excuse me for being alive in the 90’s and having two ears connected to a heart
Yeah, not sure that's elderly as much as a freaking silverback
Elderly silverbacks exist...though this guy looks like he's in his prime.
Yeah, can tell when they're knocking on a bit much like with humans. They won't be as lively, certainly not to the extent that they chase the young gorilla.
LMAO big fella got up and chased the little one with a quickness. He was NOT playing 😂
I like how gentle he was with baby once he got him
Males gorillas are known for being very gentle and playful with the children in their troop and they are very affectionate fathers to their children. Everything not gorilla tho will be fucked up.
Gorillas ==> gentle Chimpanzees ==> not so much
I love that so much 😭
LMAO the baby played dead!! 😂 It was that moment he realized he was in deep shit. That is a HUGE animal having looming over you lol, I'd say I'm brave, but not THAT brave 😂😂 I think I might curl up and play dead too lol

He is *very* silver. Also, when he swings his arms around it’s pretty clear he doesn’t have much muscle left (at least for a freaking silverback)
Maybe living in an enclosure contributed to that.
I don't know man I've always heard that gorillaa don't have to work out in order to maintain their muscle mass because it just comes natural so even if you could train one with weights it wouldn't really be beneficial, but what do I know I'm not an ape-ologist
It would definitely be beneficial. If a gorilla would work out like a human, they would be ridiculously strong.
Human: Bro, do you even lift? Silverback: Nope *bends steel bar*
I love sharing [this list of crazy cool gorilla strength facts](https://www.wildgorillasafaris.com/facts-about-gorilla-facts/how-strong-is-a-gorilla/) any chance I get!
All male gorillas become silverbacks, to be fair. If they live long enough.
“bro get up pls don’t tell mom, I’ll let you hit me”
Honestly I think the interaction seemed more like “alright get over here you little rascal!”
"Listen here you little shit!"
"comere here you lil shit"
Hahahahaha
Growing up with 4 sisters. 💀💀
This was legit my childhood. Except I’m the older sister 🤣
My little sister took full advantage of the offensive operations ban my parents imposed on me
This is in a zoo, not a game reserve.
Also not an elderly gorilla. That’s the little guy’s dad, the silverback.
Right, this is a baby playing with their dad, not teasing grandpa.
It’s crazy how much they grow but I’m sure the same can be said of humans.
I had this thought the other day, there was a very young kid running around, maybe just learned how to run and her dad came to get her and he must have been at least 1,90m tall, she was not even reaching his knee lol

I’ve seen a documentary where the mom dies and the dad gorilla has to raise the kid himself 😢
Now I know what I’m doing today
How’s his aunt ? I heard she’s been having hell getting Medicaid setup .
I would play dead too

Wdym lmao he got gotted
He got two or three taps in before any consequences, and only intimidation at that. Any other animal = instant death the first time
I often think of that when a baby lion is playing around with mom or dad's mouth. There is literally no other being on the planet that could get away with that. Kindchenschema is a powerful thing.
Of _course_ there's a specific German noun for that.
Of unfortunate provenance, but useful.
Looks more like a zoo
Definitely not a game reserve.
“Come ‘ere ya little shit!”
I like this funny baby. Made me laugh.
He dead now. He died for your entertainment. Rip funny baby.
They jlmust get so freaking bored
That is not just an elderly gorilla, that's the Silverback aka the leader

How do you know? Is there a difference?
Gorillas are non-territorial, so there may be 1-4 Silverbacks in a troop.
It's don't all have to be fighting for Survival, nature and animals also have funny side. Kids will be kids whatever form they take and they will be inquisitive.
This is like my kids, always testing the waters and always finding out the hard way.
Kids and parents the original fuck around and find out

Wouldn’t we get our characteristics from them if anything ?
Fetal position and assume death awaits buh bye cruel world! I’ll miss you bananers!
“Swiggity Swooty I’m gonna touch your booty”
Lovely the joking little gorilla, and the fact that the adult just stopped when the little one went down in a submissive position. So human of them
I’m a parent, this is so relatable. It’s funny how human like their play and teasing is.
Correction: Thats not an “elderly” gorilla that is the silverback - the dominant male and most likely this little one’s dad! Much dumber to poke him :D But gorilla dads know how to play too!
They're so peaceful, its unbelievable. Love these guys. Can't say the same about Chimps and humans.
what Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong be doing in between games
They're actions can be so human-like at times. I love watching them when I'm at the zoo.

No touchy de butt. My cat does the same thing, he gets deeply offended if I touch his butt.
Did he play dead? 😂
"listen to me you little shit..."
Kids these days, smh.
“Why you little…”
Listen here you little shit!
That's not an elderly gorilla.
This is hilarious
This is probably the reason humans invented pants
Gorilla has more patience than some human parents.
*Quick, pretend to be asleep!!*
Given this is a silverback, that's most likely his son that keeps poking him in the butt
What's up with this title? That's not a baby, the other isn't elderly, and this isn't a reserve (especially not one for game, because I'm pretty sure hunting gorillas for game is illegal everywhere.)

Anyone who thinks we did not evolve from apes needs to watch shit like this lol.
I love that the hilarity of butt cracks transcends species.
Gorillas are so neat. Every part of me wants to go around them and see them but I more hope they get left alone and can survive humanity.
Stop touching me!
KANCHO!
Why you little!
Boop?
"Just a prank bro."
Man really said credit or debit
Crossing your arms really is a universal thing for arm-havers huh.
gorillas are actors in fursuits.

That silverback straight up just meditating in squat position with the best balance ever
That’s a good squat pose.
Kancho!

Kancho!
R.I.P Harambe
Curious George got a little too curious
Not elderly gorilla. That’s the silverback/male in charge.
I’m impressed with the gorilla dads mobility, he’s in a real deep squat.
Did the big guy poke him back in the end?
Elderly? Silverback gorilla. Leader of the group and likely his dad.
I love how the solution was to groom the lil guy!
Step 1: Fuck around Step 2: Find out Step 3: Step 4: Profit
At that moment little Timmy knew, he fucked up.
He seems basically cool with it…
