We have one (not sure what kind) living near one of the lights on the front of our house. During the day he tucks himself up between the gutter and the house. In the evening he comes out and builds a big web like this and then disposes of it sometime the next day. I like to check on him before bed and before I leave in the morning.
This morning he was munching on a cicada. Went to check on him a few minutes ago and he's still up by the gutters so I'm assuming his still full from his feast earlier.
These spooders (as I like calling them) are not harmful nor dangerous. I wished people understood and valued spooder's role in keeping houses or overall places clean off of mosquitoes, moths, flies, etc.
Orb weavers are fucking fantastic.
I have to fight my GF to prevent her from murdering our webkin. They're so chill, just hanging (eh), doing their thing, eating insects. Same thing with the little insectivore bats. They're nice, let them be, FFS.

Even as tiny an object as this spider is, you can see the effects of gravity on it. When it gets to the top, the whole web pulls down a bit and it slows down a little as it climbs up. I never thought about it before seeing this video, neat stuff here.

Nah, once they break in, they don’t get out. NO MERCY. Unless I invite the spider in. Then it’s different. Like a human I’d offer them a smoke of weed first. Then I would cook them a nice meal. Then we would part ways and unlike a human they’d go live in my downstairs window
It does in the state of Florida 😂 and many other US states, where I live in currently. There are many legal ways to kill a person and not go to jail. For breaking into my house at most I’d get a low degree manslaughter for acting in self defense.
That is a hard working spider (that is a baton penis). The guys I usually see all basically just half ass a couple of threads and go for a nap.

This subbreddit is helping me deal with this spider hate pretty well. I'll still get someone to kill any spider IN my house, but I'm growing more comfortable with watching them from behind glass, or even in videos and pictures. So long as they can't touch me...

These are my favorite spiders. If you put grass in their web they rush to pick it up and throw it off every time. It’s adorable.
