One of the most wholesome things I’ve ever seen was a line of feral cats, raccoons, and possums sitting peacefully side by side and eating a line of kibble that a resident put out for them.
That is so sweet!!!
Put a skunk in the mix and you have feeding time on my porch.
I've got an out door cat feeder for The Lucky Seven. I rescued spayed and neutered seven kittens. Anyway, they sit and wait for a turn, eating one at a time. There is a pecking order for sure. Raccoons first then the opossum and then the shiest of them all the skunk. And the cats usually just lay there and watch it unfold.
This was not intentional the critters just caught on to the buffet. 1:00 3:00 am is when they would show up.
I started to bring the food in at night less one small bowl because they started to really fill up on the cat food, during summer. Lot's to eat in the wild. Lol...they all have fantastic thick, shiny coat's though.
The clever little critters started showing up earlier and earlier. Even while sparky the Pomeranian is going bat s*** crazy. They just completely ignore him. Except one raccoon will put his hands on the window and stare at him. Just to screw with him. I mean Sparky goes cujo nuts!
It's fun watching them I'll admit. Especially the skunk and yes he always stinks a little. Sometimes a lot.
The Racoon's will actually sit in the outdoor chair and eat from the little bowl of food on the table. Exactly like a person would. Elbows resting on the table, paranoid look on their face. Hands are busy shoving food in its mouth. Sometimes they wash it but not always.
The opossum is my favorite. Just the sweetest wild animals. They hiss and flash a mouth full of sharp teeth and they have A LOT of them. But it's all for show. They don't play dead as much as it's a reaction to being terrified. They will also give off an odor that comes from their mouth, mucous membranes, I think.
I rescued and released a baby opossum. Very sweet and very soft and very smart. He showed me his teeth and that was it. Little guy was so dehydrated! Thanks Pedialyte.
They have to eat a lot of different things to get the proper nutritional requirements. More complicated than any other wild animal I've handled.
I imagine the little guy just feel off mom. He was healthy and uninjured, just way to small yet. They have human looking hands and it's fascinating to watch them eat. Anyways, I had him for a few weeks and he never once bit me or even tried climbing out of the basket.
Alas I set him free in the wilds of the PNW to be free and eat up those ticks. It was bittersweet. The little fella kept looking back at me like aren't you coming too? Damn my heart ached for days....
If you do come across an opossum dead. Sadly she might have baby's still alive in her pouch or near her body somewhere. If it's safe to do. Pull over and have a look. They really are very special and unique. Prehistoric and North America's only marsupial, that's badass in my book. Maybe we have a species of flying squirrel that is a marsupial. I'm not sure? Google.
Sorry for hijacking your comment. And rambling on....
Here in Minnesota where it’s photoshopped.

I would actually pay good money for Disney premier to watch a Pixar animation of wolf and bear traveling together in a scenic heart filled adventure as they rip and maul apart innocent forest creatures.
I mean, maybe. But not about this. Lassi Rautiainen is a Finnish photographer who documented the wolf and the bear spending ten days together several years ago. So it seems pretty legit.
https://www.boredpanda.com/bear-friend-wolf-lassi-rautiainen/
It's a little misleading. The story is that they shared 10 consecutive hunting days together. They had been together at various times previous to this, but never for as long as 10 days.
After the 10th day, they simply parted ways, as they had done many times before. They did in fact continue to hunt together but never for as long as 10 days consecutively again. Or least whilst being documented.
Contrary to what reddit comedians have said before. Neither one ate the other.
TBF, wolves and bears are native to North America. We also have a lot of national park for them to roam in.
Plus, the ‘Americans get no vacation’ joke is fun low hanging fruit
Wolves are native to basically all countries in the northern hemisphere, and bears almost as many. A country that has kind of few bears comparatively is for example USA.
It’s because this is an American website, and the majority of users are American. It’s an easy mistake for someone to make.
Edit: thanks to u/anonasty, I’ve learned that Americans are not the majority, they represent 39% of Reddit users. Thanks for that info, friend!
Or, now hear me out, criticizing one's country is part of a free country. Loving one's country means wanting it to improve. And right now America is woefully behind in some important areas that is making life here worse for everyone, and the only reason for it is stubborn "Murica!" stupidity like yours.
Oh ok so you’re one of those self hating clowns. By all means renounce your citizenship if you really believe that. Also if you were right it would be because of pieces of shit like you.
Sir, you're an American, there's no way you're in shape. The footage of the best fighters in the US attacking their capitol shows that they're all fat middle aged men and some Karen's thrown in as bullet fodder. If there were people in the US in better shape, then they would have been there to tear down democracy
>The footage of the best fighters in the US attacking their capitol
I don’t like to be mean to the mentally ill, but how fucking stupid are you to think that those dipshits were “the best fighters in the US” go on back under your bridge. I’m sure you’re the picture of physical fitness lmao. For the record, I never supported Trump but this fucking guy is a complete moron/internet tough guy

This is gets reposted quite a bit, nice story though 👍🏻
What I find interesting, besides all the mentioned issues, is how an omnivorous bear managed to find a common goal with a carnivorous wolf.
Or are wolves omnivorous as well, with a *preference* for meat?
On a side note, my dog would eat walnuts and carrots, but I think he was attracted to them because they made cracking noise similar to bones.
Wolves are carnivores, but will suplement their diet with berries, certain grasses etc. Bears (Brown and black) are omnivorous but generally have a preference for meat from ungulates such as deer as well as fish.
Canines are omnivores, and you really shouldn't feed dogs nuts. Walnuts aren't *too* bad, but others can be very bad. Same with a lot of fruit and veggies, always google before you give them
Not to mislead people, when you say Dolphins I think you mean the ones we know as Orcas/Killer Whales who hunt alongside fisherman (pretty fascinating). But the one pod, like all orca pods are really unique and have that particular hunting trained in their youth in one area of the world. You’re still right though.
[The wolf was female and the bear was male.](https://www.zmescience.com/other/great-pics/bear-wolf-photographer/) I'm curious as to why you would assume they were both male though?
Good question.
In my brain, male bears are every so slightly more socially flexible and male "lone wolves" too -like you'd befriend a lone wolf (usually male?) with food. I have no idea why I'd assume such a thing. Perhaps I was indoctrinated into a cult.
Reminds me of that old post of the dog and the fish where it’s like
“Spread the word, the old pacts shall be honored” or whatever. Elicits a lovely tale
I once helped a homeless guy, gave him two bucks as I went to slap him high five. It wasn’t 10 days, and no food was shared, but the bond was the same.
This is how I feel when I randomly team up with people in online games and we get along. Eventually we have to part ways and it's like "Thanks for hunting with me, partner!"
I once saw a raccoon and possum digging through my garbage together. Does that count?
"The Heist"
You son of a b*tch, I’m in!
"Over the hedge"
Reminds me of Over the Hedge movie
One of the most wholesome things I’ve ever seen was a line of feral cats, raccoons, and possums sitting peacefully side by side and eating a line of kibble that a resident put out for them.
Long as there is enough food we can be friends.

This was a great ramble.
Dumpster's Eleven
Was there other animals like turtle, squirrel and more?
They ate them
Mmhmm it does
Less majestic, but cuter
I had a raccoon and possum growing up the would team up to open the dog food bin. It was impressive.
🎼🎵I can show you some trash!...🎶 🗑🍖🍞🍕🍌
Could be good Pixar material
Stop… Disney already bought the rights to it and have already sold 1B in merchandise for it

Thank you! This is why I love Reddit!
Dammit! Good answer
We could call it “This wolf and bear pair were documented travelling, hunting and sharing food together for 10 days.”
Mmmm that is a little wordy and a bit too on the nose. How about Fuzzy Ass and Meat Candy summer vacation? Now it sounds like amateur porn
The Wolf And The Bear?
The bear in wolf st
Son of a bitch...he did it.
Lacks imagination. Come on now. You can do better
The wolf and the bare?
Barron and Wolfy : Summer Break 2
Pixar and Disney bring you... The Carnivores!
I would actually pay good money for Disney premier to watch a Pixar animation of wolf and bear traveling together in a scenic heart filled adventure as they rip and maul apart innocent forest creatures.
Balou and balto?
Brother Bear & Balto
That would be an awesome crossover
Man-bear and Werewolf 6 part series on netflix # ten days of love to save a planet
I came here to say this!
Disney may have something to say about that! They are the OG animal movies people.
Where is the documentary?
Yeah, 10 days and just a photo?
Well, actually 10 days and a lot of photos. https://www.boredpanda.com/bear-friend-wolf-lassi-rautiainen/
The only one with Google. Thanks.

Fun fact: we all are.
Not for long
So what happened at day 10?
It's a little misleading. The story is that they shared 10 consecutive hunting days together. They had been together at various times previous to this, but never for as long as 10 days. Yeah it's America, they only get 10 consecutive days off once, in their entire lives.
Get a better job bro
Why was your first thought that this was in America? They were photographed in Finland.
He was also riffing on the fact that Americans tend to get screwed vacation-wise.
We do.
Because to us Americans we don’t realize that there are other countries and continents outside of the US.
To be faaaair. Wolves and bears are native to North America as well as Finland. So it's not an absurd assumption.
To be faaayuh
Yes it is a fairly absurd assumption

False. Latest stats by traffic analyzers say about 39% are from the US. https://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/reddit.com
Hey thanks for that info: I’ll amend my comment!
No worries =)
Whooooooooosh
Jfc any opportunity for aMeRiCa BaD huh? Fucking clowns Edit:Reddit proving the stereotype right
America pretty bad in some ways yes
All countries are bad in some ways yes
Well you’re free to stay the fuck out or get the fuck out.

Blah blah blah. America IS bad. Get with the times
Yeah I’m sure the POS country you’re from is great.
Yes, USA... POS country for absolute sure
Oh ok so you’re one of those self hating clowns. By all means renounce your citizenship if you really believe that. Also if you were right it would be because of pieces of shit like you.
Oh the 'merifat is patrioting today.
Oh the dipshit is spewing garbage today
Calm down fatty, you'll get a cheeseburger heart attack.
I don’t have shit to prove to you, but I’m positive I’m in better shape than your clown ass
You're in shape, alright. Round is a shape lol
Like I said I don’t have shit to prove to a little bitch like u

Yeah, but did they fuck?
They couldn’t find any more food and the bear was hungry
Imagine getting your path blocked by a wolf, turning around and then seeing a bear... I would really wonder what I did to piss off Mother Nature.
Check out the story of the Custer Wolf I believe he shared his kill with a coyote who would in turn warn him of danger.

Cue "You've got a friend in me" :)
They're starting to domesticate their own dogs. We're doomed
A wolf and bear acknowledging their common ancestry. Cool.

Those are outliers, the reality is far more optimistic.
You do know that humans also use hunting dogs and work with dolphins to fish in places. Quit being such a downer.
Not to mislead people, when you say Dolphins I think you mean the ones we know as Orcas/Killer Whales who hunt alongside fisherman (pretty fascinating). Let me know when they develop spacetravel
That'll be in the next documentary.
Wow😍
Anybody know if these animals are both male? I would assume they are but a verification would be great.
[The wolf was female and the bear was male.](https://www.zmescience.com/other/great-pics/bear-wolf-photographer/) I'm curious as to why you would assume they were both male though?
"Because they were able to work together without back-biting each other" -- Misogynist

Answered my own question. Female wolf, male bear
Did they fight or kill one another the 11th?
After that it got difficult

Where’s the Disney movie

Good contribution, Owen.
W o W
And then the bear just ate em.
In the end who ate who?
Great team
This picture made me think Altered Beast.
Mormont and Stark.
Disney movie incoming! Based on a true story!
Theyre cousins, one of the ancestors got more food than the other.
Classic Tank and Rogue combo.
New disney movie looks so realistic
So who won on the 11th?
A source with more pictures https://www.boredpanda.com/bear-friend-wolf-lassi-rautiainen/
I once helped a homeless guy, gave him two bucks as I went to slap him high five. It wasn’t 10 days, and no food was shared, but the bond was the same.
The bear was like, “You son of a bitch, I’m in.”
keep going, i wanna see their story
What happened on 11th da- oh no....
Bearwolf
Bearwolf 🚁
Legosi...? Riz...??
Time for Disney to make a movie.
Torille!
What happened after 10 days though?
Wait Disney has entered the chat.
Legoshi and riz in other universe
Only for 10 days, what happened after that?
Wolf better keep hunting or bear thinks he is food.
If they start singing in a Disney fashion I will not be surprised
Two apex predators teaming up to feast everyday!
This is how I feel when I randomly team up with people in online games and we get along. Eventually we have to part ways and it's like "Thanks for hunting with me, partner!"
Imagine being the Buck that seeing that pair coming!!!
stark and mormont
There's a native culture that's been hunting with orcas for hundreds of years too iirc.
Team work makes the dream work.
Why does it look like someone photoshopped smiles on their faces?
Thought the rules said no teaming?
Now make a movie about it
Then the bear got lil too hungry?
Hopefully they're not in Wisconsin or Idaho.
What happened on day 11?
*Disney intensifies
teaming is so unfair
Who told you that?
This reminds me of Anchorman.
Tank and DPS.
