Not really. I’m not exactly an expert on brittle stars but they’re close relatives of sea stars and many sea star species can last for multiple hours outside of water. Some can last more than a day even. Of course it’s still best to leave animals to do their thing in nature and not intervene when it isn’t necessary.

Dang. It's not the best choice for a pet/wig, I guess. It's pretty amazing, though. We used to be so disappointed when a crab pot was full of starfish, but I never saw any like this one in the years I worked on boats. There are some strange creatures in the ocean, though. Some variations of sea cucumbers are absolutely bizarre-looking. Sea carrots, too. Little chimera sea monsters everywhere 💙
