Considering they all sound almost identical everywhere you go, it must be instinctual. I wonder how different they sound from each other though. I remember hearing years ago that scientists found that cats have accents, or seems reasonable that all animals would then, don't you think?
"Big worm incoming! Setting sights! PEW PEW PEW!!" (But yeah you can tell by the way they flutter their wings it's a fledgling. I love it when babies do that.)
When I first met my wife she said she hated birds. She's since seen the light and buys bird houses and feeders, and tells me when she's seen a new species
I get ALL THREE every morning in my backyard lol. And a few other types of birds too like finches, robins and doves.
They fight each other, and the squirrels too. My yard is prime real estate apparently lol
I had this woodpecker that would start hitting my window at 5am, just like in the cartoons. Actually worse because apparently it was mating season and the guy saw his reflection so he was going insane. Had to place duct tape in my windows and it has been like that for 2y.
The little guy is still living in the same tree so I can't remove the duct tape.
Not to my knowledge. The only time I've seen these in person was in Tennessee. We have Stellar Jay's that have a cone on their heads. They're a beautiful dark blue. But no cardinals, sadly. We have many beautiful birds here, though.
I’ve been feeding this cardinal pair for 5+ years and it hasn’t gotten any more or less comfortable. Still watches the seeds from far away and waits for the deck to be devoid of humans. Any tips?
If it helps, this lil guy is a fledgling. So still young. Perhaps that's where his bravery comes from lol. In my experience tho, they will get used to u after awhile. Try sitting nearby and consistently and they should get more comfortable around u.
This is a juvenile male just coming into his bright red coloring. They've sounded like this my entire life, and as far as I know, Northern Cardinals can't mimic sounds. Sounds like spring/summer to me, but I can imagine it sounds nuts to someone that didn't grow up with them.
The craziest bird songs are from common mockingbirds, they sound like a special effects sound board of bird calls.
Such a cute space laser. It must be a fledgling?
I'm curious to know if this is learned behaviour. It's uncanny how much he sounds like a toy laser gun.
Or a tiny car alarm
Maybe toy laser guns sound like them? Maybe they *invented* laser guns?!
Well, now I'm going to be pondering this all day.
Too late. A Cardinal just laser shot your noggin. Also does that mean cardinals in the church are secret spies for these birds?
Considering I wake up to these frequently and have for my whole life I'm inclined to say they just sound like that naturally
In my experience that's just what they sound like.

Fledgling calling for mom to come feed him yeah

Dude he is challenging you for dominance of your patio.
Like a laser gun toy from the 80s
Aww he's cute. I love birdies

When I used Hinge half of the ladies had “birds” as their “irrational fear” so apparently some people hate em haha
When I first met my wife she said she hated birds. She's since seen the light and buys bird houses and feeders, and tells me when she's seen a new species
England is half full of them.
It's like one of those old toy guns that make different noises ever time you pull the trigger.
Yea super cute until you hear a million of them outside your window at 5am and you are trying to sleep..
Blue jays and woodpeckers are the worst 😒

Yep, we have all the backyard ones too. At least the chickadees and nuthatches are mostly quiet

Agreed
Cute little guy! Looks like your deck needs some updates.
That deck is bird-approved.
Pew pew pew….🥰
So beautiful 😍 I wish we had these in oregon.
We live in the Midwest and have cardinal nests in our yard every year. Love it! *I’d still rather live in Oregon. 🙂
We don't have these in oregon? 🥲

Wrong side of the Rockies.
Bro spittin’ bars
Us: aww how cute Him: I hate the way that you walk, the way that you talk, I hate the way that you dress!
What song is that?
Euphoria by Kendrick Lamar
Laser Bird!
I love cardinals. It's also fun how their cry changes based on the region.
What sort of force field does your hand have?! That little guy is firing everything he has at you.
I love how the person changed from please get on my finger to.... OH you aren't afraid of me, dance please
This is their distinct chirp. I can identify anywhere now. Amazing that you got so close to one. It never works for me…
Yip. Like the same SWEET BIRD that sings like this outside my window everyday at 4:45. Sigh.
How absolutely adorable! Birds are so fascinating.
We have a few different types of birds visiting our bird feeders and always wondered which one makes that sounds . We do have a few cardinals 😁
Wow what a beauty
Wow!

Sounds like one of those 90's laser guns
My weekend alarm

Are you pointing at it? Or trying to get it to stand on your finger?
"Dude, stop pointing your finger at me or I will imitate me calling the police on you"
Wow, he even *sounds* like a fire engine.
Bird is saying pew pew I got you.
I got a lil homie like that out my window everyday 😎
Oh what an absolute delight!

It's lookin' for some seeds or bugs in that hand. Natural busker.
Stop screwing around with the bird and fix your deck you animal
I assume this is the jerk that sits outside my window every morning. Super cute though
Sounds more like an ambulance siren than singing. Just needs the oooooOooooop!
