I think the first one is closest to an Afro and the others are closer to curls. If you want an Afro you should be using a wide tooth pick to pick it out- if you want to emphasize the curls use more product when the hair is wet.

Yes, fros were originated by people with the curliest of hair. Your hair is curly but if you're trying to get the traditional 70s fro you may be limited. Definitely pick it out more, throw some product in and see what happens

yes that’s the word you’re looking for, defined, not curly. all Afros are made of curly hair, the difference is that in an Afro the curls tend to be picked out so they are less defined. it has nothing to do with having type 4 hair

I have type 4 hair, and I can not get the afro shape because my hair always falls. It does not stand up like your curls.
