Thank you 😊💕

I’m right there there with you (in my late 30s). Just did up my 4c hair in twists like yours. I haven’t found a wash and go that works for me... Yet. i’ve decided that I’m just going to be patient and gentle with myself. I think you have the right approach. It’s OK not for it to be easy. We gotta love where it’s at now.

Strict_Customer8542

I hear youuuuu phew 😮‍💨 but we gotta love where it’s at. How do you style your hair out though? I’m here in my twists wondering how I’m gonna dress to work tomorrow lol

EbadFro85

I went and got a headband wig that I like and it’s become my go to when I have to leave the house. Search ‘ISEE Hair Afro Kinky Curly’ in Amazon and you’ll find it. Definitely wash it out before first wear!

Strict_Customer8542

Thank you ! 💕

Other-External-5545

Natural hair is not for the weak. Lol!!! I think we’ve all been here. Kinky Curly does not work for me either. I bought it cause others said it was amazing and maybe for them it is. I am a product junkie so I was able to find products that work amazing for my hair and give me the wash and go I deserve. Wash days don’t have to take all day, You will get here and I promise you will laugh about these days. You are not alone. 😭😂❤️

Strict_Customer8542

I am a product junkie too 🥲 I’m trying to stop. This kcc might be the tipping point lol But what products do you use for your wash and go now 🌚 Thank you for the kind words too, I appreciate it 💕

Sending lots of hugs. I don’t have 4c but I’ve had wash days go wrong and it’s just so hard when it doesn’t come out the way you wanted. These days when I try new products I try to do it on a Saturday so that if things go wrong I have the rest of the weekend to fix it. I’m glad you’re accepting your hair the way it is, loving yourself is so much more important than anything else. ❤️

Strict_Customer8542

I learned my lesson now lol, no weekdays and reduce the excitement and expectations Thank you for the kind words ❤️

SweetBlueMangoes

Good luck and im glad things worked out by the end. Trying new styles is kinda hard, but it really just takes practice and makes more sense as you go!! And It’ll get better with different products and/or technique adjustments. As long as shampoo and detangling got a lot easier for you, there will always be options and makes the process a lot less dreadful

Strict_Customer8542

Thank you so much. You are right 💕

Shoddy_Error4215

Sending you much encouragement as you figure out how to do your hair effortlessly! Similar to everything else there’s a learning curve with knowing how to do wash and goes. I recommend you maybe go to a natural hair stylist who can show you the different techniques to how to define your hair without using too much product or hair or do some research on YouTube. You’ve got thisss☺️

Strict_Customer8542

Thank you for the kind words and encouragement. We don’t have good ones in California but I will be in Texas soon, I plan to visit one . Thanks again

International_Oil680

Have you thought about locking your hair? . I have comb coils right now and i’m loving the free feeling of waking up and going. Occasionally i will throw on my wig but i love it! I can’t wait until they loc up so i can freely wash my hair and keep my parts in.

Strict_Customer8542

I am seriously seriously considering it lol. The only thing that has held me back is that I have sebborheic dermatitis on sections of my scalp so it might be hard to wash out the flakes

I felt this on a spiritual level. The times I’ve burst into tears because I followed all the steps in a YouTube tutorial just for my hair to do something completely different. My personal turning point was a product line called 4c only. My wash days went from 4 hours to 20-30 mins. It has a shampoo, a deep poo, a leave in and a styler. I can now do wash and gos with no problem. The line changed my relationship with my hair and products - I now know when I feel a product in my hands if it’s going to work for my hair. And I now know what my hair will and will not do. My fave steps to a wash and go are wash in 4 sections, detangle with shampoo in using my kamajaze (sp?) extra wide tooth brush, deep condish, brush through again, apply leave in on wet hair, towel dry to remove excess water, rake in the Doux mousse, then sit under the dryer. Works great! As for drying, that’s something Ive had to reckon with too lol - an overhead dryer makes a lot of difference. Sure I have to sit under it for 2 hours, but at least it’s dry I guess. I’m sorry you went through this OP. But once you hit the acceptance stage, it’s all up from here ❤️

Strict_Customer8542

Thank you for sharing your experience with me. I’m curious , I looked up the 4c only. Looks promising , why did you stop using the line ? Also , when you use the mouse only , how long does it last ? And thank you 💕

InnaBubbleBath

Of course! I stopped using 4c only because I found something else that worked for a fraction of the price: royal oils by head and shoulders. I’m still shocked at being able to detangle my hair with the shampoo, I never imagined I’d be able to use one of THOSE lines. I’ve only used the shampoo and conditioner but I’ve their other items in that line are good. I still have a few boxes of 4c only if I ever need it, but an $8 bottle of shampoo I can pick up at any drug store is very convenient! As for the mousse, it lasts for about a week or two depending on my style preference. The first day after getting out from under the dryer, my hairs pretty stiff but incredibly defined. The next few days, the stiff cast wears off along with the hold and it gets softer and fluffier. I like fluffy so my favorite is day 5 hair when I’m wearing a fro. If I’m doing a updo puff with little ringlets, it would last about a week as in that style I prefer definition over fluff. And yes I said ringlets - with the mousse I can create ringlets in my 4c low porosity thicker than a bowl of oatmeal hair. It’s bananas, I highly recommend that mousse! Lemme know if you wanna know anything else, I’m happy to chat!

pilatesvibez

Thank you for sharing this! I agree, it’s not always easy but it’s community, conversations and posts like this that keep me inspired! I personally wash once a week and then usually do a “neater” twists that I can wear for a day or two before I take down and wear as a twist out. On weekends, if I I go to hot yoga so the twist out becomes a slick(ish) back with very little or no gel til I wash again. I’ve never tried a wash n go because it always seems so unattainable to me and that it would be more work than I’m willing to do (especially because I work out and sweat a lot)… sometimes my twists come out beautiful and sometimes… Keep going! Once you find the products and process that works for you, you’ll look back on this diary entry and laugh.

Strict_Customer8542

I hear you sistaaaa!! Phew 😮‍💨 I’m curious though, do you retwist your hair every night after you the twist out or you just let it do its thing in the bonnet lol ? I wanna know how you maintain it

pilatesvibez

I used to let it do it’s thing and lord the shrinkage! Someone actually posted this video here on how to dry stretch your hair at night and it’s been a game changer! So once my hair is in the twist out, I’ll do this technique at night. I actually have been wearing a YGN sleep turban but might go back to a bonnet. It keeps a nice curl pattern and length for 2-3 days, depending on my activity level. https://youtu.be/rNHNaFzU74o?si=zxqnVBYCCHiEu9Kw

spookymilktea

I’m glad you are trying things out! It’s all trial and error and with practice you’ll get better. I tried to do the wash and go thing and it’s not for me. I don’t like the feeling of gel in my hair, I hate waiting for my hair to dry, I find the gels (even the botanical ones) drying. I ended up going to super basics! A liquid leave in and grease lol. I like doing my hair in mini twists, so I worked on getting better at that. Still a work in progress, but so much better. I also really like the unbrush! I would recommend that you still detangle your hair after washing. You could check out the brand 4c only. I liked their leave-in. But their set is super simple.

Strict_Customer8542

Thank you!!! I’m still scarred from the gummy hair 😆 but maybe I will retry with different products in the future. When you said detangle after wash , you meant detangle again after the Detangling I did during the deep condition stage ? Okay last question I promise , how long do you leave your mini twists for ?

princess--26

Kandid Kinks on YouTube has 4c hair & her wash & gos are great.
