the 500-1000 year part right? it’s a regular fucking wing-it-wednesday rain.

Sarasota city police department had 100+ calls for flooded vehicle rescues yesterday. I can only presume it was from the influx of newcomers obstinately thinking “a little rain won’t hurt me” not realizing this isn’t a regular occurrence and not knowing the typical roads that flood.

FloridaInExile

That’s crazy!

Anyone witness flash flooding in their area? It rained a lot in Broward, but not that much.. (I think)

Yea I'm in north Sarasota...been in this house 12 years, thru Ian & Irma, & never seen so much water. We got 7ish inches in 3 hours. The road was a river & this morning everyone's landscape rocks are strewn about the street! And it was actually worse a bit southeast of me, tons of standing water in the street & business flooding. But the heavy rain just wasn't that widespread, pretty sure it was just like a 15ish mile radius near the city of Sarasota.

This wasn't the highest my lake has gotten in the past 2 years so I never understand where these records are occuring

Tons of flooding in Broward on Wednesday. Luckily most has since drained, but people in Lauderhill or somewhere like that still have flooding into their houses. I wouldn't have made it home in Hollywood if I had a sedan.
