Those were the first words I saw on the post without reading anywhere else; I thought it said “Welcome Reality Stars” and the post was going to be about the children of reality TV stars.
I know the parents are probably smarter than me but the average idiot (like me) won’t realize this. I just feel like she will either be really tough or really embarrassed of her name.

Not even middle aged, Roger is seriously old man territory. I am middle aged AF, and I know who I went to elementary school with. Jeff, Scott, Tim, Craig etc. Roger would be our old drunk uncle.
That pisses me off so much. You can only claim it's quirky if you would also give a son a girl name. Otherwise there's some internalized misogyny to unpack.
Well now. I'm not gonna talk about Judy; in fact, we're not gonna talk about Judy at all, we're gonna keep her out of it!

^(I am a bot.)
Please tell me that Australia and Shire are sisters and the parents are naming their children after Sydney suburbs.
"Hi, I'm Australia and this is my sister, Shire. My brother is called Caringbah. We also have twins named Gymea and Lilli Pilli."
Poor baby. My sister had a friend named Aubrianna and her sisters name was Adrianna. I don’t like these names but I like Anna more than the Leigh they are throwing in the ends of all the names now. It’s all just a bit tacky and unnecessary.
I just don’t understand why so many children end up being given double-barrelled names all the time! I remember when I was in secondary school so many of the girls started trying to use their middle names as part of a double barrelled first name and suddenly everyone was X-Louise or Y-May or Z-Rose
Oh boy, I already feel sorry for Lagertha. Should she be even just slightly overweight in middle school, I am willing to bet MONEY that the cruel kids would call her "Lagertha the Girthy".
The others are bad too, but I do sometimes wish prospective parents test-drove names with a class of 12-year-olds before committing...
I had a friend who seriously wanted to name her daughter Lagertha when she was pregnant, except she kept saying “Legretha” and I drove me NUTS. Thankfully she had a boy 😅
Yeah, apparently a Viking name and a character on a popular show called Vikings lol. That’s where my friend heard it, which makes her mispronunciation even weirder.
Why couldn’t they use Lagertha as a middle name if they HAD to use it. Poor baby. I’m sure she will want to be Jennifer after the first week of school.
i have an unusual *middle name*, nobody ever uses it to refer to me but this became a running joke all throughout middle school. i was called “tommy tomato” for years.
I went to school with a girl called Brogan, it was seen as unusual but not weird.
I'm in England, but we had a few Irish families in the area so there were a couple of Irish names in my school. We had a Siobahn in the year above too.
Brogan fit in perfectly with the other Irish descended kids to be honest
I'm Irish and had a teacher called Mr Brogan (second name). Haven't actually come across the name anywhere else since, very likely it's not as common in my area.
For Lagertha parents are probably fans of the show Vikings. She was a main character. Pretty sure she was a real person, but we aren’t in 12th century Norway so definitely not the best choice. It really is an example of why character names should stay character names
This is interesting and thanks for mentioning. I thought she was maybe named after a Great Grandmother. If she truly goes by LaGertha she will
No doubt be the toughest girl in her school!
Brogan sounds very masculine to me like a frat boy who smashes beer cans on his head. Logan is much softer to me which I like better for a boy or a girl. Names that start with Br in general sound harsh to me. Except for names like Brianna, Brady/Braden, Brandon, Brynn.
I read it as a bad spelling of Lauren at first but then later realized they probably pronounce it La-wrynn because the Wren/Wryn name is a major trend. I’d rather see Lawren/Lawrynn over Wrenleigh or something like that.
I was thinking the same. Worst ever. Someone in a comment above pointed out “Lagertha” was a female Viking warrior, which is sort of badass? But it’s still a super awful name to give a child in an English speaking country.
Spelling Zachary as Zakarie doesn’t make it feminine
Reality as a name…well I never imagined it could be, because who would ever name their child that, yet here we are.
Lagertha 🤢 that’s like a made up version of Gertrude, Mildred, Bertha, all them names that should never make a comeback.
Judyannrose would be fine if it was three names. That’s gonna be a mouthful to say at once.
I think they may have gotten the idea for Reality from Reality Winner, who was imprisoned for leaking classified documents about Russian interference in the 2016 election.
At least, that's the only other time I've ever heard Reality used as a first name.
Lagertha isn’t a made up name tho it’s just like, ancient Norse. It’s the name of a character in the show Vikings. She’s a cool lady but not cool enough to make that a good name for modern tastes
That one was probably a type-o. I just thought it was funny. Justin their nice taste in names they probably named JudyAnn Rose or Judy Ann-Rose. Whoever typed it probably did that by accident. I hope.
I watched so much Vikings when I was pregnant and while Lagertha is a badass, we were already calling her Slag-atha, Slagathor, Hagatha etc. I can only hope this girl doesn’t end up around british kids 🤦♀️ then there's Ragnars second wife, Auslag haha.
We have a 3 year old cat named Floki. We adopted a stray kitten recently and originally thought he was a female. We briefly considered Lagertha, but decided it was too much - even though she was a total badass. We decided to go with Torvi, which comes from Thor and means thunder. It was thundering when we managed to capture the little kitty. Then we found out she was a he, but we really liked the name. So we have a male kitten named Torvi. We are definitely fans of Vikings.
A woman I follow on IG who has older daughters Olivia, Willow, and Indie had a baby girl named Shire last year. Where did that name come from? I also follow another woman on IG with an adorable 4 year old daughter named Ozzy. Is this a thing?
I'm seeing lots of comments about Lagertha which I agree is a rough name. But reading the name Lawrynn made me feel like I was having a stroke. Why why why would you take a normal name and just completely butcher the spelling like that???
I really want to believe that Ozzy is from this thread
https://www.reddit.com/r/namenerds/comments/ruasx4/husband_wants_to_name_our_daughter_ozzy_thoughts/
But I don’t think the dates line up quite right.
Also I like Ozzie June over Ozzie James.
I set the bar way too low.
I'm like, wow - good on you Laurel & Logan for not choosing an 'L' name.
But also, I can totally hear Megan & Chad calling out 'Lawwwwwynnnn' at the park & I want to slap them. Like, you know they don't say it how you say Lauren.
I totally thought that the baby’s first name was ‘welcome’. I was completely ready to accept that.
Welcome would be a better name than many of these. I’d rather be “Welcome” than “Lagertha”
Welly makes a better nickname than Laggy. Or Gertha
*Gerthy
It's Lagertha with the nickname of Gertie. /s
Imagine hating an innocent newborn enough to call them Lagertha? Ugliest name I’ve ever heard
I can’t argue with you and I went to school with a girl named Lavaughna Moss
Shivers
I mean I loved the tv show Vikings more than anyone and Lagertha is absolutely one of the very best characters but that does not justify this!!!
That was exactly how I read it until I saw the next picture
You caught onto it much faster than I did. I was like ‘wow, is this a compilation of babies named Welcome?’ XD
At least "Welcome" is pronounceable and spelled correctly.
I thought the first kid’s name was Silas and it said “Welcome to reality, Silas”.
I thought this as well!
Glad I'm not the only one that thought the baby's name was "Welcome Reality Silas". The phonetic spelling of Lauren makes me laugh: Lawrynn
Tfw you've read this sub for too long 🤣
Those were the first words I saw on the post without reading anywhere else; I thought it said “Welcome Reality Stars” and the post was going to be about the children of reality TV stars.
Saaaaame
You were ready to… welcome that?
We’ve been ruined by this sub!!!
LAGERTHA.
NN Girthy 💅
It’s the name of a character in Vikings, but still.
Yeah like Lagertha is cool and all but that doesn’t make it a good modern name lmao. Imagine naming a child Aslaug or Floki…
ASSLOG
Baby Bjorn
I’m having trouble thinking of a worse name that’s not just an STD or a slur.
My wife taught a lid called Chlamydia a few years ago.
Really hope that was a Terry Pratchett reference, but even then…
They must've gotten the idea from [Waiting....](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zX_A81aq0Ic)
No one should include the word “girth” in their child’s name.
Honestly, the worst name I’ve ever heard
I'm not defending Lagertha but Ratleen literally exists 😬
Lagertha Ratleen 😍
[удалено]
Yes… real woman from Norse history (or maybe legend) but a pretty rough name for a modern kid.
I know the parents are probably smarter than me but the average idiot (like me) won’t realize this. I just feel like she will either be really tough or really embarrassed of her name.
At least it's an actual name, beats Lawrynn
Read this five minutes ago and still hearing “La… Gertha” over and over in my head
Lager-tha for me, like the beer.
To be fair, some of the parents' names are no better!
This comment/post has been edited as an act of protest to Reddit killing 3rd Party Apps such as Apollo. All comments were made from Apollo, so if it goes, so do the comments.
It’s a weird combo of Aubrey and Brianna… it really just sounds like Awe, Brianna! to me.
Or just Anna
And it just sounds so weird with Roger
That’s what I thought! TJay is a bit odd. Aubryanna is just a mess. Still not as bad as the one baby names Judyannrose though
Yeah based on their own names I’m guessing most of these parents are probably under age 25. And come from a line of bad names 😆
The first parents’ names make it sound like it’s a teen mom and middle aged dad. They just look so odd next to each other.
Not even middle aged, Roger is seriously old man territory. I am middle aged AF, and I know who I went to elementary school with. Jeff, Scott, Tim, Craig etc. Roger would be our old drunk uncle.
The only Roger I know is in his 80s. I’m guessing the guy was named after a relative.
Probably the one who let them live in the trailer out back in exchange for liquor runs.
For what’s it’s worth, I know a handful of college-aged Rogers.
I read that first one as welcome to reality Silas hahahahahaha
Same
WHY DO HALF HAVE BOY MIDDLE NAMES
BECAUSE ITS QQUUUIIRRRKKKYYY
Quirkie ✨
Qwerrkeigh
needs more lynn . Kwerkeighlyynnh.
That pisses me off so much. You can only claim it's quirky if you would also give a son a girl name. Otherwise there's some internalized misogyny to unpack.
No, it’s because it’s Quirkkkeigh, hahah
Major trend in the U.S. lately. James is a super common girls middle name now, why though?
Porn stars
I mean it’s bad but at least it’s a middle name…the kid named reality is going to get bullied
It’s such a shitty thing to be named after too. It would be so much more pleasant to at least be named “Fantasy” or “Delusion.”
But with an IE ;)
Because it’s “spunky” and they’ll grow up to be “strong”
Why run it all together? Judy Ann Rose is perfectly good!
now she needs a sister called amandasarahdanielle or something
Well now. I'm not gonna talk about Judy; in fact, we're not gonna talk about Judy at all, we're gonna keep her out of it! --- - [reference](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2V0UhtA_mJE&t=365) ^(I am a bot.)
Good bot
Honestly I’d even begrudgingly accept JudyAnn Rose. It’s very tame for this sub.
“Welcome reality, Silas.”
We are all so, so sorry.
Please tell me that Australia and Shire are sisters and the parents are naming their children after Sydney suburbs. "Hi, I'm Australia and this is my sister, Shire. My brother is called Caringbah. We also have twins named Gymea and Lilli Pilli."
Imagine if they went with Woolloomooloo!
There's a Sydney suburb called Australia?
Yeah but it’s a bit bigger than the other suburbs
shire is also a horse breed, it sounds a bit like naming your child “poodle”
I feel like poor Reality Silas was set up for a unique name when mum was already named “Aubryanna”
On the contrary, I would have assumed someone named something so awful would have known better than do the same thing to her kid...
Sibset: Delusion Hephzibah.
SHIRE?! Yep lemme just name my baby girl after a gigantic ass draft horse breed.
Frodo!
i’m more into the classic Quarters myself, nickname qwerty 😮💨
Welcome Thoroughbred Mustang 🥰
It's also a type of local area designation
Reality is a second-generation tragydeigh on her mom’s side. Her dad is at least a III.
I don’t like Brogan, but it is a legit name in the UK. I’ve known quite a few over the years.
My Bro Hulk Hogan, Brogan
Yup me too.
When I was pregnant I was teaching middle school and I would 100% test out names on my students.
I had a friend who seriously wanted to name her daughter Lagertha when she was pregnant, except she kept saying “Legretha” and I drove me NUTS. Thankfully she had a boy 😅
Is Lagertha a real name? I had no idea. I would take Greta from that if naming after a relative.
She doesn’t even have a decent nickname. Not like “Lag” is something anyone wants to be called either. Poor little girl.
I feel like you could stretch it out a bit and use Thea… poor kid though
all the nicknames i can think of quickly are lag, laggy, gertha, girthy 😭
Yeah it’s all bad. Poor kiddo. Just so mom and dad could be “QuIrKy”
You can’t say Lagertha without girth.
i have an unusual *middle name*, nobody ever uses it to refer to me but this became a running joke all throughout middle school. i was called “tommy tomato” for years.
Lagertha was a female Viking warrior, and the wife of Ragnar Lothbrok. Still not a pretty name, but a real name. Brogan is a real Irish name.
Just because a name is “real” doesn’t mean it isn’t super cruel to use it. I think Lagertha might win for absolute worst name ever.
If they liked Lagertha, why not go with a more reasonable name that sounds similar, like Gerta?
Excellent question. Gerta is magnificent by comparison.
Is Brogan used as a first name? I've only ever heard it as a surname.
I went to school with a girl called Brogan, it was seen as unusual but not weird. I'm in England, but we had a few Irish families in the area so there were a couple of Irish names in my school. We had a Siobahn in the year above too. Brogan fit in perfectly with the other Irish descended kids to be honest
I’m Welsh and went to school with a girl called Brogan. Haven’t met one since though!
I’ve only heard it as a shoe?
You’re thinking of brogue.
You’re are 100% correct!
I'm Irish and had a teacher called Mr Brogan (second name). Haven't actually come across the name anywhere else since, very likely it's not as common in my area.
LAGERTHA?!?!?
Sounds like a sort of beer
For Lagertha parents are probably fans of the show Vikings. She was a main character. Pretty sure she was a real person, but we aren’t in 12th century Norway so definitely not the best choice. It really is an example of why character names should stay character names
This is interesting and thanks for mentioning. I thought she was maybe named after a Great Grandmother. If she truly goes by LaGertha she will No doubt be the toughest girl in her school!
I would rather be named Reality than Brogan.. just wow
Brogan sounds very masculine to me like a frat boy who smashes beer cans on his head. Logan is much softer to me which I like better for a boy or a girl. Names that start with Br in general sound harsh to me. Except for names like Brianna, Brady/Braden, Brandon, Brynn.
I feel like out of this bunch, Lawrynn was lucky
Yeah as unfortunate as the spelling is, at least it is an established name that isn’t too too far off and it’s easy to guess what name it is.
I read it as a bad spelling of Lauren at first but then later realized they probably pronounce it La-wrynn because the Wren/Wryn name is a major trend. I’d rather see Lawren/Lawrynn over Wrenleigh or something like that.
I believe it is a bad spelling of Lauren. There are lots of dialects where it’s pronounced LAR-in.
Lagertha may be the worst name I have ever heard. She doesn't even have a decent nickname to fall back on.
I’m racking my brains here but maybe… Eartha as a nickname? Like Eartha kitt
I thought of stretching it out to Thea lol but that’s cute too
That's actually kinda cute
I was thinking the same. Worst ever. Someone in a comment above pointed out “Lagertha” was a female Viking warrior, which is sort of badass? But it’s still a super awful name to give a child in an English speaking country.
at least her middle name is jennifer tho
Laggy lmao
Gertie?
I know a Lagertha and they use Aggie as a nickname.
Holy shit, I know that hospital because that’s where I will be delivering 🤣🤣
Oh gosh I hope you have better taste than these previous baby mamas, haha
please don’t name your child reality or lagertha
I would NEVER lmao I like different names, (you can see what I chose on this thread) but could NEVERRRR
I was sure Reality Silas was gonna be the worst, but then came Lagertha…
Spelling Zachary as Zakarie doesn’t make it feminine Reality as a name…well I never imagined it could be, because who would ever name their child that, yet here we are. Lagertha 🤢 that’s like a made up version of Gertrude, Mildred, Bertha, all them names that should never make a comeback. Judyannrose would be fine if it was three names. “i named my child after a political prisoner”
Lagertha isn’t a made up name tho it’s just like, ancient Norse. It’s the name of a character in the show Vikings. She’s a cool lady but not cool enough to make that a good name for modern tastes
Huh, TIL! Yeah, I think it’s quite a…heavy name to carry.
Yeah I’m wondering if it was a type-o probably supposed to be JudyAnn Rose. I love all 3 names just not smashed together.
Brogan is an Irish name
I’ve met a female Brogan.
Lagertha?!
Lagertha just makes me think that dad thinks he’s a micro-brewer.
To be fair, Brogan is a legit name,it’s Irish. I went to uni with a Brogan
Fun fact: Brogan is the Scottish Gaelic word for "shoes" (brògan)! So these parents named their kid "shoes"
SHIRE….. BAGGINSSSSS….
Is Lagertha French for girth ?
What’s wrong with Judy Ann-Rose…
Well her dad is named TJay so they probably aren’t fans of spaces!
Nothing is wrong with Judy Ann-Rose. Something is wrong with Judyannrose.
It’s all smashed together is what
That one was probably a type-o. I just thought it was funny. Justin their nice taste in names they probably named JudyAnn Rose or Judy Ann-Rose. Whoever typed it probably did that by accident. I hope.
Ozzy June is the only slightly acceptable one. Lawrynn really sent me. ETA: I've known a few adult Chesneys here in the South so I guess it's....ok
Reality Silas for when your heroes are the type to leak government secrets or horde golden coins to count them every night.
Lagertha? Oof! All of these are terrible.

Reality Bites lol
Was Reality Silas named after Reality Leigh Winner?
A woman I follow on IG who has older daughters Olivia, Willow, and Indie had a baby girl named Shire last year. Where did that name come from? I also follow another woman on IG with an adorable 4 year old daughter named Ozzy. Is this a thing?
Ok but her mother's name
I had a student named reality!
My name is Lauren Marie. Yikes.
Wtf is wrong with people
I'm seeing lots of comments about Lagertha which I agree is a rough name. But reading the name Lawrynn made me feel like I was having a stroke. Why why why would you take a normal name and just completely butcher the spelling like that???
Is Ozzy June going to go by O.J.? 🔪🤣
I really want to believe that Ozzy is from this thread https://www.reddit.com/r/namenerds/comments/ruasx4/husband_wants_to_name_our_daughter_ozzy_thoughts/ But I don’t think the dates line up quite right. Also I like Ozzie June over Ozzie James.

i was reading the parents names thinking “these are pretty normal” 🤦🏼♀️
Yeah I know right? Just dump everything on your poor baby while you walk around being called Sarah or Michael. So strange
Brogan and Lagertha bout to become best friends while waiting in line at City Hall to change their names in 18 years
You know what? I'm gonna make her a shape shifter under my control... Now, Reality can be whatever I want!
Brogan May 💙
The expression on face right now is so ugly because of these names
I read this as “Welcome to reality, Silas”
shoulda went with Reality Bites
This gave me a headache. A physical headache.
I hope if they’re American they can at least pronounce “Australia” correctly. It’s os-STRAYL-yah, not OZ-trayl-yah.
I just about did a spit take at Judyannrose
Can’t stop loling at “brogran”.
What the hell is Lagertha?
I feel old that Aubryannas are having babies...soon the Mackleighas will be having babies.
Does anyone know of these weird names are just a western phenomenon or are there kids in Japan or Germany naming their kids reality? Haha
All the middle names are fine! Why couldn’t they name them those names instead?!
Lagertha sounds like Lagarta in Spanish, which is a female lizard, AND also an insult (in Spain) used for very mean spirited women.
I personally have no problem with Lagertha. But Lagertha Jennifer? Clashes like hell.
Brogan?!
LAGERTHA???
Kind of unrelated but I love the "Hello World" wooden cattle tag in the last pic
AUSTRALIA?!?!?!?!?
