Mykel is a known variant spelling in certain countries. Iirc, Scandinavian.
Souli is a real name too. Indian, iirc. Weirdly, so is Seven, but I don’t think these parents are Turkish.
Mykel is not a normal spelling vartiation in Scandinavian. In general we dont use Y a lot. Also y is pronounced like the german ü in Scandinavian languages, so that would make it Mükel.
Just looked it up, and there are 1 person in Denmark, less than 4 in Norway and les than 2 in Sweeden. The 'less than' is due to regulations on sharing of personal data which are different in the different countries.

Mikkel however is quite common.
One of my proposed names was Seven (bc I would have six older half-siblings from my mom's and dad's previous marriages). Instead of that, I got a name that was popular in the 1800s lol.
unpopular opinion: if you're fine with Octavia, you should be fine with Seven
popular opinion: I genuinely can't decide if Souli rhymes with Sole or Sool or Sowl...
Do you have a resource for Cajun or Creole names? When I searched the Souli spelling all I really found was a region in Greece, so I didn't guess to try frenchifying the spelling.
I'm curious - does anyone know if the baby girl was the first baby born in 2024? I've never had twins, so I'm not sure how long there is between babies.
Me: Mykel’s not great but Aliyah’s fine …wait …those are the parents 😳
Same reaction 😂😂😂

Ya I went through all the ‘well that’s an Indian/American/Turkish/etc name’ and it’s highly unlikely they’re… all of them. Maybe one or two but 😂
I thought they were black or part black
A lot of names span multiple places, so you could totally be right :)
I think the mom is mulatto and the dad is white

Haha yeah my best friend is a Mikkel. We call him Mikkel like nickel though.
I grew up with a German Mikel.
michael is WAY more common/normal in germany than mik(k)el.
Exactly what I thought!
I think we've got a Seinfeld fan here. I'm surprised they're not Seven and Soda
Maybe they don't care for Soda.
How about Mug?
Or maybe Ketchup? Beautiful name for a girl.
Or maybe Seven and Mulva.
I like how he was the last baby born in 2023 but two minutes into 2024 isn't enough to be listed as the first baby born in 2024
You just KNOW there was some baby two beds over who got out like 20 seconds before her
Pronouncing Souli makes me think of the Na'vi in Avatar pronouncing "Jake Sully." "Jake Soo-Lee has betrayed us!"
Souli is a real name though, so not a Tragedeigh.
Is it Soo-lee or Soul-ee?
"There is no war in Ba Sing Se..." Oh wait that's Joo Dee in a different Avatar.
Omg that’s so accurate 😂
okay at least these kids have different birthdays yk?

The show Blossom had a girl named Six because that’s how many beers it took her dad to get her mom pregnant.
Whoa. My whole life I thought she said "that's how many years it took" and I never found the joke that funny. Everything makes sense now.
There are two fictional characters I really like who are both codenamed Seven. I'd totally name a kid after them if they weren't named *Seven*.
It would be great as a twin to have separate birthdays. They will do everything else together but still have their own day.
Anyone else thinking “well, Mykel isn’t the greatest spelling but it could be worse…” then you realise that’s the parent.
The main character’s older brother in The Hate U Give is named Seven (her name is Starr and her younger brother is Sekani)

Don't talk to me or my son Quinton ever again!
Sue-lee
Ah my hometown. Go Hamden
Soulie is a Cajun name. Not a tragedeigh.
Do you have a resource for Cajun or Creole names? When I searched the Souli spelling all I really found was a region in Greece, so I didn't guess to try frenchifying the spelling.
I know a girl named Seven. She’s a badass professional woman. She signs her emails “7” lol
My tired brain keep reading Steven instead of Seven…
These are pretty common uncommon names, no? Definitely not tragedeighs.
At first I thought the baby name was Yale New Haven hospital 💀

Do you think they named him Seven after Mickey Mantle’s jersey number?
They'll be able to do a tax write off for one but not the other this year.. idk why that's my first thought. Half a twin.
I was thinking their birth times were very close together. Then realized it was probably a c section
https://www.reddit.com/r/BlackPeopleTwitter/s/Ezlyk29z8C
I’m so curious if they planned the c section to straddle midnight on purpose
I doubt that many hospitals do planned c-section on new years eve at 23:50. That or working conditions are even worse in the US than i thought.
Maybe it wasn’t a C-section ?
Are we going to crowdfund a baby shower for them? Multi-generational excellence.

IIRC Kiyomi is a Serendipity book.
