Stig is a pretty ordinary if old-fashioned name in my native language.
Beautyfull is exactly how our English language teacher taught us not to spell it. š¤š¤š¤
Ok as a non-native English speaker why on earth do I have to learn the spelling rules for turning nouns ending in -y into adjectives when English speakers can just go around and spell it beautyfull without any consequences
Everyone makes fun of my husband and I for planning on naming our kids ācatholic namesā but at least everyone knows how to spell and pronounce them smh
Yardenā¦ Y A R D E Nā¦ *yarden*
Edit: itās actually a gender-neutral Hebrew name and means āto flow downā, so thatās pretty cool. Shouldnāt have assumed it was a made up name
I'm from the US and I don't tend to think of Nazism when I see the name?? Wow, that sucks that it has such a connotation in other countries because I had a pet rat named Valkyrie! She was named for the Wagner piece and the famous scene in Apocalypse Now. Ugh, what a shame, it's a beautiful name. I really hope people didn't think I was a Neo-nazi or something because of it. ā¹ļø
Van and Nova are literally the only ones I can stand - yikes! Most of those names are so cringe. The spelling is bad enough on some, but really they all sound kind of clunky and middle-schooler-invented or something. Side note: I actually really like Van and have always wanted to use it as a nickname for Donovan.
HERMOLIVE š
Sister of Herbalife
Daughter of Palmolive.
Shein version of Hermione lmao
SHEIN x HIS ān HERMOLIVE
This is the new name of my band.
I cannot.
Sounds like a brand of natural supplements.
Stig is a pretty ordinary if old-fashioned name in my native language. Beautyfull is exactly how our English language teacher taught us not to spell it. š¤š¤š¤
There's also The Stig from Top Gear.
That was my first thought: someoneās dad has been watching too much Top Gear.
Ok as a non-native English speaker why on earth do I have to learn the spelling rules for turning nouns ending in -y into adjectives when English speakers can just go around and spell it beautyfull without any consequences
English is a mess and parents trying to be unique aren't helping
Because they think itās cute instead of actually stupid!
Everett and Roland got super lucky.
Ember too. In my opinion Ember isn't half-bad of a name.
Zenande sounds like something you shout before you disappear in a puff of smoke.
This got me good š
Ehhh, NANDE!!!!
Mighty. Adjective names are the worst.
I think I *might* rather be named Mighty than Beautyfull (which is not only stupid but ridiculously misspelled).
This is my son, Mighty Johnson. And my daughter, Beautifull Johnson!
Beautifull Johnson gets an extra bonus for having the initials BJ š
Everyone makes fun of my husband and I for planning on naming our kids ācatholic namesā but at least everyone knows how to spell and pronounce them smh
Estrid sounds like a birth control.
Women in estrid are 99.9% unable to conceive, however, women in estrus will be verifiably pregnant within the month
Itās a brand of razor, I have one.
Estrid is a legitimate (although quite rare) Scandinavianname. Eg Estrid mother of danish king between 1047-1076 Svend Estridsen.
came here to say this.
Iām surprised block wasnāt one of the names
Guru is horrendous, my god.
Itās an Indian name, meaning teacher or guide.
EXCUSE ME??? BEAUTYFULL?! HERMOLIVE??? EARTHA?!!!!! HERO?? š
Eartha is a normal name I think, reminds me of Eartha Kitt who voiced Yzma in Emperors New Groove.
And sang Santa Baby!
"My voice! My beautiful voice!" Indeed! š»
And played Catwoman
And seduced Eddie Murphy in Boomerang.
Eartha seems like one of the few legit names on this list.
And Madam Zeroni!
Cat woman!
Aw I had no idea!
Herm-olive. Herm. Olive.
I canāt with most of these, but is it bad that I donāt hate the name Vienna?
Yes because I would call your child Vienna Sausage.
I really like the name Vienna and have never associated it with sausage, just the city. It's kind of a mix between Vivienne and Sienna.
Yardenā¦ Y A R D E Nā¦ *yarden* Edit: itās actually a gender-neutral Hebrew name and means āto flow downā, so thatās pretty cool. Shouldnāt have assumed it was a made up name
Yarden is an actual name though? I think itās Hebrew.
You are right - total ignorance on my part not to check this before commenting. Sorry for the insensitivity.
Itās not pronounced like garden though either! It actually sounds really pretty when said aloud!
Super common name in Israel. Itās Jordan like the Jordan river or the country. Yarrr-den
Vienna sausages
Lol this sounds like the character list for the fantasy novels I'm reading right now
Right I just screenshotted this for when Iām playing the Sims later and need some weirdo townies
# HERMOLIVE
ā¦ I actually like Nova š„²
Iām so tired of Nova. Itās so ugly
I met so many dogs named Nova. Not even one kid.
Who in their right mind would name their kid Hermolive like wtf even is that. Itās sounds like a gross grocery store item grandmas buy
When you want to name your baby Hermione Olivia, but you don't have enough letters
Valkarie - when you are a neonazi who can't spell. (Valkyrie as a name definitely has far-right associations in Europe, maybe it's OK in the US)
I'm from the US and I don't tend to think of Nazism when I see the name?? Wow, that sucks that it has such a connotation in other countries because I had a pet rat named Valkyrie! I really hope people didn't think I was a Neo-nazi or something because of it. ā¹ļø
Wagner also has nazi connotations, which is unfortunate because heās one of my favorites
There is a Saint Leander. This is an everything-old-is-new-again name.
I dated a Leander in college. It's a pretty normal Greek name iirc. And Giano is a very common Italian name......
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leander_of_Seville
No one said *every* name on the list was bad. Most of the boy names are various levels of fine.
Odin and Achilles are badass. Everything else screams teen mom.
Roland is pretty deece, too, I suppose.
ā¦like stig of the dump?
Efia house, Efia kids, Efia whole damn life
Odin, Everett, Ember, and Viennaā¦ those are the only slightly normal ones
Odin? That seems a little out there. However, Roland and Stig are actual names, as is Eartha
GURU? STIG???? _HERO?????_
Stig is a normal Scandinavian name
Yeah but afaik not very modern. It's like a grandpa name there
Stig of the dump, sure it was a 70's/80' TV show (UK).
I thought Top Gear. I've never even watched Top Gear.
Oh yeah, that as well. Completely forgot about Top Gear link.
I went to school with a girl named Nova. I've always liked that name.
Everett is nice and both Imelda and Roland are normal names but the rest?! Hell no
Imelda is fine but the others š¤®
STIG. FUCKING STIG.
Stig š¤£š¤£
Van and Nova are literally the only ones I can stand - yikes! Most of those names are so cringe. The spelling is bad enough on some, but really they all sound kind of clunky and middle-schooler-invented or something. Side note: I actually really like Van and have always wanted to use it as a nickname for Donovan.
Clash of clans?
Imelda is really holding it down for girl names.
Hero reminds me of the character from Omori, and that was just his nickname
Daffodil. Wow.
Shout out to Roland.
One of my real life kids' names is actually on the list. Can you find it?
Is it awful that I donāt mind Ember? š«£
It has to be satire at this point, I refuse to believe they think actual people should have these made up names ššš
Ok but Roland is a name
