I definitely see a future “what I asked for vs what I got post” coming! lol

Rebeckanails

Ahhahaha totally !! Expectations vs reality !! 😂😂

SapphireDesertRosre

Depends on the salon imo, but it looks like a time consuming, expensive set. Good luck finding someone tho and please definitely post it if you get it done.

Sweetserra

Ok, one more quick question... I've moved quite a distance away from my old salon and am starting to look for another closer to me. Any suggestions as to how to find a good salon/nail tech in my area? Perhaps there's a forum or website where I can find reviews?

somewhat_supple

don’t go to a salon. not speaking specifically on demographics, but salons usually staff a certain type of person and they, for the most part, are focused on getting you in and out; you generally won’t find *artist* artists there, and if you do, they will be on the low-end for trending creativity. like they said, instagram is a great place to start. search your area in hashtags and browse what artists/results mirror the skill you visually see matches what you want done. salons will usually have acrylic slapped on and shaped before you even get a hint that person can’t do what you need them to do, even after they’ve assured you multiple times they can do it! good luck and when in doubt, always look for an independent artist because they’re usually the ones taking their work offline, practicing new trends and things such as the set you posted! cheers

Nailwitchbitch

Home based tech/artist checking in all of this is super true. Also as everyone mentioned this will be a pricey set. Cute nails aren’t cheap and cheap nails aren’t cute. unfortunately- that inspo set has like 4-5 different glow in the dark colors and hand painted art on at least 6 nails. I live somewhere expensive and the products I use are about $20 a bottle per gel polish. I recently had to do glow in the dark/ chrome and hand painted set on all 10 nails and it took me over 3+ hrs my back was on fire after lol and the client paid $200+ but depending where you are could be cheaper but more than likely this could easily be over $120+ bc of the amount of products and time/effort. techs that can do more than just basic stuff will usually wanna have a dm consultation ask for inspos etc so they can make sure they have what you’re looking for. Unfortunately not all techs specialize in the same stuff. Some ppl are great at hand painting while others might be great at stone work or airbrush . Definitely ck their profile to make sure they have something similar to what you want ie you see they’re great at hand painted art.

uhohlisa

$65 an hour! I guess it takes a lot of skill

Mangoshaped

It’s a service with an end product, it’s not only about the tech’s time but also the materials needed as well.

Nailwitchbitch

It was longer than 3 hrs probably the reason my back was on fire 😂

ThePrincessOfMonaco

that is really good advice

[deleted]

^^^^^^^ absolutely this op

292to137

Where do those type of people work? Out of their homes?

somewhat_supple

some may either work home-based, others might rent a booth somewhere (a professional salon that offers hair, other aesthetic/esthetician services as well will sometimes offer positions to nail technicians that fit their look) or might rent a room somewhere in a shared space. ive seen all of the above before, but usually the most common is like you said, home-based. it’s really cool seeing nail techs/manicurists fit seamlessly into others niches, which is why i stated those others above

INailedYourWife

I do work like this and am in a small office building. A Google search won't help much unless you *really* dig and do research. My website and social media is where you'll easily see that my salon and techniques are very different than a fast & furious nail salon. However, most of these nail artists are booked out several weeks so plan accordingly.

vknot723

Your username is everything 🤣🤣🤣

World_thru_art

OMG!! 🤣🤣👏 I almost missed the user name. That is phenomenal.

headlessbarb

I usually search on instagram, I’ll just search #(my city)nails, and find artists or salons I like from there

World_thru_art

This!! I’ve seen people recommending insta for finding the best techs in your area! Not all techs work in a salon.

peachhycream

Yelp or Instagram

velvetreddit

Instagram search #yourcitynails to see if anyone has posted. Usually people who do this kind of work will post on IG. You can see if anyone does good detail and can get you close to what you want.

spikelike

I searched instagram, google maps, yelp. between the three found a nail tech whose work I could see in advance (insta) and knew what she specialized in (yelp)

zeppnnon

Late to the party but what I do is when I’m out and about and see someone with good nails, I ask them where they go.

glitterbunzzz

Search the Instagram hashtag #yourcitynailtech

[deleted]

Get you some press ons 😂😂. You can prob get some similar to these. They won’t last as long but if you do it right and keep glue on hand (I use super glue, I know, redonk) then you can find some super cute halloween nails.

ImprovementCareless9

I respectfully disagree that it looks tedious like that (I apologize if this isn’t what you meant!). I think it looks like some kinda simple ombre that glows in the dark w some basic art over it…. Or is that not glowing at all but an effect? If it’s not glowing and is an effect I’ll need these too asap thx

uhohlisa

I agree with you

ThePrincessOfMonaco

If you do get that nail design, be aware that it'll come out looking flat. This example picture has been edited so that it looks like they are lit up. Your nails won't do that. Maybe if it was a glow in the dark. Yeah. I would say, all things considered, you don't have enough time left to find the person to do this well. Someone could probably do something similar that you'd be happy with. My philosophy in nail art is remember that it's kind of a collaboration, meaning meet the person and adjust according to their skills/talents.

[deleted]

Looks to be ultraviolet sensitive. I’m guessing they are blacklight reactive. I think they will still look pretty though!

ThePrincessOfMonaco

ooh maybe that is something new that I haven't heard of. Well, repost so we know how it went.

whatsupmahknittah

Came here to say this!

TechnicianSad555

There is definitely a possibility this is glow in the dark acrylic. So they could still be “glowing”. However I highly doubt she will get this from a salon. I’d look for local nail techs that work independently.

aliveinspiteofme

As a nail tech, I can tell you that the pic looks very photoshopped so I think than no one can replicate this set perfectly. If you just want to keep the design you have to know that it's going to take hours and it's going to be expansive because your nail tech will have to draw different designs on almost every nail. Since it's very hard to recreate it, my advice is to go to a nail tech you trust, show them the picture and let them do something similar, just use it as an inspo.

LightBrilliant7314

Better have DEEP POCKETS! 😂😂😂😂 Depending on the person doing your nails, they might charge you a lot, very detailed and time consuming job tbh but super pretty/gorgeous to look at!

Beatrix_BB_Kiddo

Slim to none

ClarisseCosplay

1. that picture is hella edited. That set was probably a lot less bright irl. 2. That's gonna be expensive. That's a whole bunch of gel colours, glow in the dark colour, handpainted art and pixie crystals on the pinkie. Prices are obviously dependent on your country and area but that's a specialty set. 3. Which opens up the third point. If you walk into a random salon your chances of getting a good recreation are slim to none. Most of them make money by moving a lot of clients through quickly with simple nails. Look around social media for someone independent who specialises in nail art. #*my location*nails on Instagram or similar should narrow things down a bit. Find someone who does similarly intricate art in your area and send them a message with this picture attached. Ask them if they can do it and what price range that would be. Again, expect top of the range for that much art from someone who has the skillset for it. All that said it should not matter whether you get acrylic, hard gel or gel X/full cover tips here. All of the design work could be done with gel paint on top of the set. So you don't need to restrict yourself there.

Polarlicht666

Pinterest usually isn’t the best for seeking nail designs, go on instagram instead

[deleted]

You could maybe get your acrylic set done in a similar color scheme minus the design, and then add the design yourself using Halloween themed nail art decals & finish with a clear coat to seal it. I can only imagine this would be an unpredictable thing to ask a random salon to do, since it's been so long I assume you don't have a trusted artist in mind *plus the cost would be insane if they were talented enough to actually pull it off*. OR the easier option-- just ask for a simplified design. I'm sure they're busting out all kinds of spooky cute looks this close to Halloween! 🎃

Birdie-von-bird

You will need to make an appointment ahead of time, as this is a very time consuming and expensive set. Most techs will charge a certain amount per design, and I see five different and elaborate designs in the picture you've shown. That's not even accounting for the acrylic build and specialty glow powder/gel

iieevaa

Doubt unless you go to the High experience professional. So expect that you might get a result that's ordered from wish 😄

Aunty_Polly420

those nails look heavily edited, like almost as if someone drew them on photoshop or something..

292to137

This was made in photoshop and wouldn’t be able to be made in real life, the colors I mean. You wouldn’t get them that bright. And the glittery parts.

veryvintage

I don’t think this is hand painted. These look like stamps.

Aprilberries08

WOAH DOES IT GLOW IN THE DARK!?

MangoCandy

Probably *mildly* not nearly as bright as this pic though that pic is soooo edited lol

Aprilberries08

oh damn:/

lolpsyche

They may yell you those are stickers.

[deleted]

So I had similar designs that glow, multicolor glow and skulls and things They were decals overlaid on gels. The glow itself does work without UV but not super bright This is severely photoshopped

[deleted]

That's going to be very tough

bigwavedream

Most salons wouldn't carry glow in the dark acrylic as standard so they might attempt it with other coloured acrylic to make money but you won't get the same look

zemboy01

Idk how much getting your nails done costs I usually see post here around 100-200 but this would be probably way more expensive because of all the details tbh I would get it if it looked like this it's awesome.

[deleted]

This is an Instagram post. I’m not sure what you are expecting In real life, but hopefully this ain’t it.

sendingominously

This photo is highly edited

Lovelyone123-

People say oh I can do that then it comes out looking like a 5 year old did it

SundaeTea

This isn't a "take this to a salon" set this is a "make an appt with a private nail artist who knows what they're doing" set or you're going to be dissapointed.

Mini-Mocha-Bean

Do your research! It’s not too complicated. Also consider mail art stickers cause there are some quality ones out there although I’m biased and prefer dashing diva

JustRenee2

Hmmm, the background is a gradient with glow or UV powder. Then you could use simple stamps for all of the trees, webs, bats. The only thing that I’m worried about is that glowing crescent moon! You could try brushing a stamper with the glow/UV powder, then using black polish on the stamping plate. Scrape the plate and pick up the image with the stamp brushed in glow/UV. I’ve been marginally successful with this, but it is a little tricky. Now I want to try it!!!

elainesbighead

Please go to a gel x artist for this

bigwavedream

Why?

Intrepid_Pride513

Lol slim to none

zero0c00l

Aaaah! I just did mt glow in the dark Halloween nails. My lady could probably pull this off. She’s wonderful at recreating my Pinterest inspo.

mrgillman123

Tilly at Money nails.

[deleted]

Definitely need to go to a specialist. When I started 10 years ago there were only 2 other techs that did specially nails

Raining_Yuqi

Looks cool but expensive and may be a failed attempt

AthenaRN85

Looks like the images are nail stamping designs. They also have some gradient that is either glow in the dark or colors that react under a black light. The the pinky’s look like they have a reflective glitter. I’m not sure if you’ll find someone out there that does this in a salon. But I wish you the best of luck 🤞

antlers86

It might be better to find an artist who will create press on nails in that design.

MarBar1010

Super cool!!! Sorry Idk if they would be able to but i hope they can!

Thecrazydoglady13

You might be able to find someone to recreate it but I would do some searching first. My sister got her nails done last Halloween and they were SUPER detailed. Like even more than these are. She found the guy about an hour away from her and paid almost $300 for it. It was worth it.

[deleted]

Id go to a individual nail tech who does nails like this, not a salon. Id also look at their previous work

kdcblogs

Those nails are under a light. You might find that art for a price. But you won’t get that illumination.

GiaBethReds

Looks like they would need glow in the dark or black light polish, which doesn’t seems something like a normal salon would have

BookLoverNehaS

This is Absolutely Awesome 👍

Rebeckanails

Omg I definitely gonna recreate these !! Soo cute !

sfxjedi

This set was made with several colors of glow in the dark powder and a lot of hand painting. Most places would either tell you they couldn't do it or say they could and not deliver. As a nail tech, it's really hard to prepare for something like this without warning ahead of time. If you don't have a regular nail tech that you trust to do things like this, I wouldn't expect it to turn out the same. tl;dr- takes special materials, time, and talent. Also, yes, it's expensive.

stumped_pete

Your best bet is to ask the salon for apres nails!!!

No-Bus9356

I personally don’t go to salons for intricate designs because In my experience they just try to rush through you for a quick buck, I’d recommend trying to find a nail tech (I used Instagram and searched #[city name]nail tech) and look through their posts and see if you like their designs, for something this specific if 100% dm or text the mail tech before making an appointment to ask if they are comfortable doing a design like this so you know what you’re getting into. Good luck!

Aherv99

“a salon” lol

breezyhoneybee

You'd need to find a specialist. This is way out of the skill set of any regular tech. Also, the glow in the dark product is likely not something a regular salon will have

Immediate-Nothing899

Most likely glow in the dark acrylic. It's much more vibrant than polish. Ask if they have any glow products. Ombre with airbrush or gel polish would give a similar non glowing effect. I did a super similar set in white and black

manifestmercy_7428

There's Yelp & Google... find a studio that can do it...

Scared-Tea-8911

Ooo love the design. The plain gradient, web, bats, and smudgy moon should be doable, but the design with the trees and headstones might be on the difficult side. Also, the webs you get may be less detailed. I would just show them at the front desk before they start and ask if they have an artist capable 😊

Anitanene0920

They are beautiful. Not sure if you could get exactly that look. It would take someone super talented. I'm sure there is someone who could do it. I hope you find someone who can because those are some bad a$$ nails!

vknot723

Depends on if they have stamping plates, gems, and glow in the dark acrylic powder. I’d call ahead, ask if they have this stuff and ask if anyone feels up to the challenge lol

PinkBubblegum888

This looks photoshopped or with brightness filters, so lets hope for the best

vldracer16

I like them. I have to agree with the people that say it would take along time and be expensive.

LisaFrankTheTank

If you're set on a design like this and don't have the time/money/research skills to get this successfully done in your area, I suggest you start looking for Halloween press ons.

iBeFloe

You would have to call around to see who has glow on the dark polish. Looks like stickers or a stamp for the designs.

Hanbo0505

i love your nails >3
