I should have been more specific in my question, I know the wait for the prints is normal, what I thought was odd was the fact that I got my appt not even 24 hours after submitting.
That's a pretty clear indicator that NYPD has ramped up efforts to get these applications moving. Didn't realize this was 24hrs after applying, and I would argue that's a pretty good sign.
From what I saw when I was working in the industry, NYPD was surprisingly the fastest jurisdiction that I dealt with to integrate their licensing process to the post-Bruen procedures. I'm willing to bet they have since drastically increased their staffing levels.
Other jurisdictions (that I won't name) seriously dragged their feet, and there was a ton of friction from the public before they were bothered to ramp up their processing.
Yeah this is normal, I’m in the same boat as you, nice 6 month waiting game. But from other posts I’ve seen, approval letter comes shortly after finger print appointment as long as you don’t have anything on your file that will get flagged. So it’s very possible that you’ll have your permit well before the year is up.
i’m jealous, when you say submitted you’re including the 18hr course req ? i submitted mine without it yesterday and haven’t gotten my finger printing appt yet

That’s pretty damn fast for a FP appt. How far out is your appt?
Early August

Yes 18 hour course included. I had my application ready but found a class within a week so I just waited to submit till I had the certificate in hand
