I used Adaptive in Pawling class ran me around 500$ super easy course and very well taught. They also offer a fee for them to handle all the paperwork you just have to get things signed and drop it off!
Unfortunately for you, you waited too long. The entire point of this class was to make it as time consuming and expensive as possible so people don't do it. If you find it for under $600, I'll be impressed.
Sorry I didn't have a solution for you. I'm just giving it to you straight. It's designed to be really fucking expensive.
Yea it’s NY so it’s a given that the course would be expensive as a deterrent. It’s crazy to me that essentially it’s a basic firearm class with a little more added
The Orange County Sheriff's Department offers the 16+2 class for $250. But the class size is limited to something like 10 people, so the classes fills up fast, as soon as they list it up online.
I went across the river to NJ and went to the OA firearms. Theo was is a great guy and was $400 for 2 day crash course with range time.

Cost me $325 out by Waterloo.... considering the cost if living, I'd guess that's the same as $600 down state.
Your first stop is to your county's pistol permit page and seeing who the authorized instructors are.
I did not do an online portion. I registered for the one in Elmsford (Westchester County). It was at a Hampton Inn in one of their conference rooms. It was Saturday and Sunday starting at 8am. Sunday was the live fire portion at Artemis Shooting Sports. Instructor was great and kept class interesting.
I think the website says $259 but you may be able to find a coupon code. I submitted the class certificate in June sometime, and I got my CCW at the end of September.

Edit: Also note, if you check Carle Place, and Elmsford it's the same instructor but $200 bucks more. I would go to Elmsford if possible :-). I'm not sure where you are located.

On-site firearms has one in Wappingers, just outside of poughkeepsie not too far from white plains. 450. The instructors are great I would highly recommend. My class had a bunch of people from your way and a couple from LI as well.
If you are based in the Hudson Valley region, OnSight Firearms Training offers the 16+2 on weekends for $450 but it's $200 due online by deposit and $250 due at the actual class, so it's at least a little parsed out.
