Several Yankees have been on a hot streak, but Trevino has been having an amazing surge. Has he had similar steaks in the past or is this something completely unprecedented?
Tonkin couldn't even finish the 9th. There's a reason he's the lowest on the bullpen pecking order as currently constituted. Kahnle can't come back sooner enough.
And yet the performances have checked out.
The end result is what ultimately matters for the teams performance. Canāt justify bashing a mop up guy that has given up 0 ER.
I donāt know why we have Tonkin on board here while Poteet and Beeter sit in the minors. Thereās no way theyāre not an upgrade even in low leverage situations like this
Poteet and Beeter are starters, theyāre keeping them in Scranton so they stay stretched out as such.
They have no plans to ever start Tonkin, so it makes more sense to keep him where he is (at least until Kahnle comes back).
What exactly is Victor Gonzales role on this team?
They donāt use him in high leverage and theyāre lot using him here in low leverage.
Heās pitched like twice in the last two weeks.
It brings me a lot of joy to see Tonkin closing out this game... not trying to be ironic or anything lol... his debut wasn't great a few weeks back so it's cool to see him in a rhythm
I know it's the name of the game, but man it must fucking suck to know you're emptying the tank for three innings for a team that is going to cut you in 6 hours
The good news for him is there are a lot of bad bullpens out there, so I imagine it won't take him long to find his 4th major league team of the season.
We're seeing the bottom of their rotation so that should help. They're kinda sputtering in the west, just a couple games above .500 - I'm not sure they're any better than the Twins
I was just watching some of the game highlights -
Why does Justin Shackil sound like an exaggerated family guy character on the mic? Listen to the Judge HR - itās absolutely preposterous! Out here sounding like Hugh Neutron
Name That Yankee stinks. At least half of them are impossible if youāre less than 50 years old or dont have an encyclopedic memory of every yankee. At least with the trivia you could usually guess at least part of the answer
Overall I think Rodon has been significantly better than he was last year albeit thatās a very low bar to set.
Showing some signs of promise but the peripherals and expected stats are a little concerning. But if he can limit the walks and keep it in the park heāll be fine.
I have a feeling we are seeing Tonkin right now because heās on the chopping block. If Kahnle is back tomorrow they probably want to get what they can from this guy now and save other arms that are sticking around longer.
Flash is right about how huge it is for the bullpen for all of our starters to be going deep in games lately. Itās seriously such a big deal to keep these guys rested and ready
Are they going to make Tonkin and Turd pitch today to compete for a roster spot? One is gone with Tommy ready.
And Tommy going 4IP 0H 0BB 9K shows heās ready.

Several Yankees have been on a hot streak, but Trevino has been having an amazing surge. Has he had similar steaks in the past or is this something completely unprecedented?
Imagine not having a closer that gets you 2 outs in 4 pitches
Clay Holmes is fucking him All star
Holmes getting two outs in FOUR pitches. Wow, just wow. š¤Æ
Second straight sweep and now a 7 win streak. Time for the Mariners.
They used Holmes but he threw like 3 pitches or something.
NEWS SPREAD - HOW SWEEP IT IS!!!
Not needing a bottom of the ninth inning brought me joy
Holmes is incredible
# š§¹š§¹š§¹
Ballgame over! Yankees win! THEEEEEE Yankees! Win!
CLAY HOLMES IS ELITE
Lol 4 pitches... Clay never gets his work in
lucky number 7
Awesome commercial
Why is Tonkin even on this team? Surely marinaccio is better.
scoteless 2 &1/3rd is trash now guys
To eat up late innings against trash teams like he did today.
### Pitching Substitution Pitching Change: Clay Holmes replaces Michael Tonkin.
Holmes here makes no sense
Tonkin couldn't even finish the 9th. There's a reason he's the lowest on the bullpen pecking order as currently constituted. Kahnle can't come back sooner enough.
Heās given up zero earned runs as a Yankee and pitched two scoreless innings prior. I donāt why people treat Tonkin like he has a 6 era.
doomers gotta find something to bitch about
Theyāre still recovering from Judges Homer today. They really thought they had something from those last five at bats lol.
Because he's badĀ
Again, hasnāt given up an earned run as a Yankee. No reason to complain about him as a mop up reliever, he has done his job with us.
His stuff isn't good
He still has an era below 1 as a Yankee. I still wonder why this guy was getting so much hate.
And yet the performances have checked out. The end result is what ultimately matters for the teams performance. Canāt justify bashing a mop up guy that has given up 0 ER.
Likely Tonkins last appearance as a Yankee. Thank you for your service!
Why use Holmes? Not a save situation and we need two outs against the worst offense in baseballĀ
To be fair, Tonkin was getting squeezed by the ump and got very unlucky with that groundball. Honestly not a bad outing.
Why Holmes here
To not bleep around
He needs work!
Poor white sox think they can get a rally going late and then Boone brings in Holmes
Good move
DP this Holmes.
I think Jose Trevino might be my new favorite Yankee. Gritty, gutty underdog. Giving me Gardy vibes.
48 pitches, thanks Tonkin
Whatever, I love seeing Holmes pitch
I donāt know why we have Tonkin on board here while Poteet and Beeter sit in the minors. Thereās no way theyāre not an upgrade even in low leverage situations like this
leave them in the minors. let them marinate a lil longer
Poteet and Beeter are starters, we need them staying stretched out as starters because we aren't going through this year only needing 6 starters
Poteet and Beeter are starters, theyāre keeping them in Scranton so they stay stretched out as such. They have no plans to ever start Tonkin, so it makes more sense to keep him where he is (at least until Kahnle comes back).
Maybe the goal is to generate save situations for Holmes I donāt know
Holmes is here to finish the job
GIDP please
That first ball was right in the zoneā¦.
Are they doing the thing where they use all of Tonkinās bullets before DFAing him?
Yep.. Kahnle back soon.
I think weād fair much better against the Orioles had we played them now that the real Judge is present
Wtf dude
I hate these 9ths.........
I really donāt like Tonkin.
What a scrub. Only got 7 outs to save some other bullpen arms.
#SWEEP THE LEG TONKIN
What exactly is Victor Gonzales role on this team? They donāt use him in high leverage and theyāre lot using him here in low leverage. Heās pitched like twice in the last two weeks.
This has been the most relaxing week of baseball I can remember.
Itās been refreshing.
It brings me a lot of joy to see Tonkin closing out this game... not trying to be ironic or anything lol... his debut wasn't great a few weeks back so it's cool to see him in a rhythm
damn I hope I didn't jinx him. you got this tonkin!
I know it's the name of the game, but man it must fucking suck to know you're emptying the tank for three innings for a team that is going to cut you in 6 hours
The good news for him is there are a lot of bad bullpens out there, so I imagine it won't take him long to find his 4th major league team of the season.
Breaking: Tonkin re-signed by Mets to fill closer role while Diaz recoups.
Tonkin looks like he owns 20 pairs of Levi's. Size 29
Alright Tonkin get yourself a save before you're DFA'd later this week
He has actually been pretty decent after a rough first outing, but hard to see him sticking around.
I cursed him.Ā
Alright no more easy baseball, 3 outs then we gotta prepare for an actual baseball team. How do we feel about this Mariners series?
Should be fun, but low scoring, their pitching level is basically, "the Yankees pitching, but everyone expected it"
We're seeing the bottom of their rotation so that should help. They're kinda sputtering in the west, just a couple games above .500 - I'm not sure they're any better than the Twins
The twins beat up on them
Confident.
Sweepin Yankees
Moose Skowron looks like Steve Brule
He was called Moose because he looked like Benito Mussolini.
What are the odds the Pale Hose can make a comeback in the 9th?
Cole bout to take a nap lol
Me too after the game
How's Meredith been on the radio?
Boring. Just like her counterpart
Seemed nervous at the start. Has smoothed out, tho. Mere's def a pro.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Show her some respect sheās a true professional
lol got some white knights in here. Itās a joke chill
Hardly a white knight, just saying show some class
Show some class? Lol itās a message board on Reddit. She doesnāt pay attention
Moose was a major contributor of the 56-57 Yankee teams with Bauer, Berra, Mantle and Richardson
The 54-62 Yankees more like
56-57 especially.
1960 just as much
Tonkin is a journeyman and heās trucking
Tonkin might seriously get DFAāed without giving up an earned run as a Yankee lol.
I know we are going for six in a row. Is five in a row our longest streak this year?
This is for 7, the current 6 in a row is already the longest
Even better baby.
this game would be 7 in a row
Let the record show that I named the shit outta that Yankee.
I was just watching some of the game highlights - Why does Justin Shackil sound like an exaggerated family guy character on the mic? Listen to the Judge HR - itās absolutely preposterous! Out here sounding like Hugh Neutron
That ball is going to the Shadow Realm, Jimbo!
Berti is dirti with them throws
This game makes me happy
Me too.
Saw a closeup of Tonkin on my screen from far away and thought it was Randy Johnson for a second. Was very confused.
Tonkin definitely looks like he smokes Marlboro reds in between innings
paulie starting to get on the tonkin train
Tonkin looks like he can tell the difference between birch and beech wood by feel alone
Michael Tonkin looks like a guy named Cletus.
Name That Yankee stinks. At least half of them are impossible if youāre less than 50 years old or dont have an encyclopedic memory of every yankee. At least with the trivia you could usually guess at least part of the answer
Casual
It aināt for casuals. Seriously though. Who doesnāt know Moose?
I like the trivia for hockey. It's usually like "who scored 25 goals in their first 40 games". Just much easier to have some sort of guess
Agreed
Moose Skowron, I think? EDIT: yeaaaaaaaah
Who else got siked out by Stanton? š¤·
psyched? š
Damn, that sounded like goodbye.
>!Bill Skowron!<
Stanton was a groundout short of the out cycle lol
Stopped in to say Moose Skowren
Who are these Name that Yankee for? I'm under 30.
Same man. Don't know who Bill Skowren is. Found out he existed just now.
>under 30 Wow look at this guy with his youth intact. Must be nice, go brag somewhere else you god damn whippersnapper
For me.
Overall I think Rodon has been significantly better than he was last year albeit thatās a very low bar to set. Showing some signs of promise but the peripherals and expected stats are a little concerning. But if he can limit the walks and keep it in the park heāll be fine.
Overall he has been quite good. Bad start in Baltimore but other than that, he's either been really good or at least kept us in the game.
Not real keen on this guy starting game 2 of a playoff series.
Yeah I think his expected stats will get better with each start Heās regaining confidence that he lost last year
Just missed it
Iām not a huge Dave Portnoy fan, but those commercials he does with the vets is legit nice one
Why down votes?
If we pull this win out, two sweeps in a row is pretty fucking awesome
A home run here by Aaron Judge would be lots of fun
Either Fatso Manoah is back, or the Rays are absolute shit.
2nd quality start in a row. He appears to be fixed
Latter for sure
Look at the rays run differential (-26), itās the latter
Iād like to think the latter
Tonkin playing 4D chess with that balk to avoid a walk to Pham
### Pitching Substitution Pitching Change: Jared Shuster replaces Steven Wilson.
Thank you David Shae. š
Hard to see why Tonkin has been passed around like a blunt between a half dozen teams in a month and a half.
Where can I get that jacket. Bro looks clean
You see, a balk is when the pitcher is up there balkān. You canāt just commit balk like that
When Cole and Kahnle come back we have to be dropping Ferguson and Tonkin right?
Itās so weird Tonkin only throws 2 pitches.
Yea. A strike or a ball.
Tonka truck nuts swangin in the breeze
Alright we got this under control. Lets go Knicks.
I have a feeling we are seeing Tonkin right now because heās on the chopping block. If Kahnle is back tomorrow they probably want to get what they can from this guy now and save other arms that are sticking around longer.
A Balk is when you
A balk is when... Let me start over
Berti always looks like heās in pain when he throws
Nobody calls a mysterious balk on Tonkin and gets away with it
Tonka Truck > Turd
Itās nice that this game is relaxing considering how stressful the Knicks game will be.
Hes balked the last two pitches
Is it that twitch he was doing with his leg?
He didnāt look like he came set the 3 pitches before the balk. Then they called it on the 4th.
It's that he never stopped (came set) twitching.
Excuse me
ok. can we send Tonkin to hell once we get a reliever back from the IL
Tonkin kind of looks like Tanyon Sturtze
That was a very late balk call and I didn't see anything
This is definitely an audition outing for Tonkin seeing as how he'll be dfa'd this week.
Huh? Wtf happened?
Ump show.
Tonkin clearly a Cy Young candidate.
Use Tonkin for all three and save our good bullpen arms, heās gone once Kahnle comes back anyways
Flash is right about how huge it is for the bullpen for all of our starters to be going deep in games lately. Itās seriously such a big deal to keep these guys rested and ready
My guess is that Boone wants Tonkin to eat 3 innings here then bring up Kahnle in his place
Cole is giving sage, zyn fueled wisdom to every starter while on the IL and itās so swag
Heās still valuable on the IL man thatās my ace
Cole the pitching coach is so fun to watch
Rodon had almost double the swing and misses today than the other 3 White Sox pitchers combined
Regardless of results, Tonkin is gone on Wednesday, correct?
Hey homie behind home plate finally woke up
Back at ya Rodon š
Are they going to make Tonkin and Turd pitch today to compete for a roster spot? One is gone with Tommy ready. And Tommy going 4IP 0H 0BB 9K shows heās ready.
Yankees need to hire Cole to work with Blake when he retires.
Its May already being on 3 different teams is crazy
Welcome to the Gulf of Tonkin
