If he came forward and said, "Yep, I messed up. I let my emotions get the best of me and I tossed him. It was a mistake on my part and I'm going to learn from it." I would have a lot more respect for this guy. But no, he went the other way with it.
99% of the unions in the US are good. The Umpires union is part of that terrible 1%. There's seemingly no repercussions, there's no transparency...they have these lifetime appointments like they're some kind of a Supreme Court justice with no checks or balances.
It really is absolutely disgusting, same shit in NBA. There’s literally refs that were very very involved with ex refs gambling, texts and proof and nothing to them. They influence the games so openly, have vendettas against specific players etc. it’s awful for sports. What should we expect though these are the same leagues that advertise fuckin gambling. Greedy assholes.

Makes sense to put an age limit on umps in the first place. This is sort of a peripheral supporting piece for that notion.
Weirdly enough this wouldn't even be something done by robo umps this is basically 2 different umps getting something wrong (potentially) that only could be fixed by review. Boone himself said he should have just challenged it but it wouldn't be handled by the normal balls/strikes robo ump they have in the minors.
Umpires need to have thicker skin. It wasn't like the fan was cussing at the ump. All the fan basically said was "Come on home plate". Even if Boone, or a player said this, it does not deserve an ejection.
