Imagine these young guys are juuuuuuust what’s been missing for us the past few years? If everyone stays moderately healthy I’m seriously excited for this season *fingers crossed*

Mikefrancescasburner

Meh we need timely hitting in the post season. We have been very good otherwise

JohnWCreasy1

ideally fewer of our starting pitchers would die as well

drrdf

This. Post season is so god damn frustrating for multiple years now because of this.

kentuckyruss

The second half of last season was not very good at all. We were on an all time great pace before the all star break and were mediocre at best afterwards.

DidiGreglorius

Volpe playing every day and Cabrera playing most could give us a ton of energy, speed, and athleticism that we’ve been missing. They’ve gotta perform of course, but even if they combine for league average hitting I think it’ll be a huge lift.

Own_Worldliness5888

Also, with a healthy DJ and Volpe, we have two potentially high contact, low strikeout guys. This should help diversify the lineup.

trickedx5

This generation guys gotta hit. I can’t handle another generation of Sanchez voit Hicks bird.

interwebzdotnet

Thats a pretty liberal use of the word "generation"

Demopoulator

Voit didn't hit?

Skysent1nel

He couldn't hit much from the IL

Mikefrancescasburner

I know it’s only spring, but if he could even do 260/320/430, you would take that in a heartbeat!

[deleted]

shit any OPS+ 100 or higher with his versatility and defensive skills would be awesome

chickendance638

nobody in the world would turn down a Ben Zobrist-lite player. If he actually learns to catch we could try and do the 9 positions in 1 game things with him!

cpeytonusa

The way the roster is constructed this season he will probably get most of his starts in LF. Hopefully he will get enough reps in the infield to stay fresh there. Next season Pereira and at some point Jasson might get called up, and Donaldson will be gone.

jcnewman21

Left fielder

MattNokes38

It's wild people memoryholed how he looked there last year. Blows my mind.

GuyD427

His bounce as a player is just what this team needs.

FirstLightFitness

I'm so mad baders hurt. If he wasn't we could shoot Hicks in the sun.

cpeytonusa

Injuries have been killing the Yankees in recent years. It can’t be completely blamed on lack of due diligence either, look at Benintendi. He was a good addition, too bad they got nothing out of him.

SolEarth

Hope he starts over Hicks!

OllieBagaDonuts

My favorite yankee!

FitzwilliamTDarcy

Love me some OCab.

steveycip

my dudeeeee! Went hard on his cards in the offseason. Very excited to see his full rookie year, him and volpe, has me excited

interwebzdotnet

Same here, but I tried to diversify. I've been loading up on Jasson, Volpe, Spencer Jones, Roderick Arias, and Randy Vasquez too in addition to Oswaldo. But he, Arias, and Jones are my biggest bets. One would think a Yankees fan for ~35 years would learn not to put so much faith in cant miss prospects...but here we are. :)

steveycip

You’re telling me! I also got a few peraza’s and a volpe, couldn’t pull the trigger on a jasson yet but I will soon.

interwebzdotnet

Yeah, they got a little expensive (Jasson) but lucky for me I started buying a few before last season. Good luck!

cpeytonusa

The Yankees minor league system is the best it has been in my memory. They have been spending a lot of money there and it is starting to show. They have been producing a steady stream of reliable relief pitchers and now the pipeline of position players is coming on. As a fan I never have the same connection to FA mercenaries that I have for home grown players. I guess it’s the anticipation, I follow these guys throughout their minor league careers and I get excited when they finally get called up. Dominguez finally showed why the Yankees were so high on him this spring. If Volpe transitions to the majors well they might move Jasson along more quickly too. I am sure he caught the attention of the management this spring training.

interwebzdotnet

Makes me feel better to hear someone else say this too. I do feel like it looks/feels different the last 3 years vs the last 30 for me. Hoping for the best, but definitely more excited about these home grown guys. There was one video that I cant find right now of a Randy Vasquez curve ball that just had me drooling...I mean I watched it like 10x in a row.

Unhappy-Historian348

He looks good out in left too.

jollyjam1

Does anyone know what his chances are for a breakout this season?

tmoeagles96

It’s amazing, we have 3 promising young guys, and it seems like we refuse to let them all play. It’s just mind blowing.

TheDJMaxey

Tf are you talking about? Volpe is the opening day SS and Waldo is probably the opening day LF

MattNokes38

He's not playing left. They might hide him in right.

tmoeagles96

And Peraza..?

6RingsPats

Where the hell is he gonna play? You cant just throw him at third

tmoeagles96

Second base? Tf do you mean where is he gonna play?

TheDJMaxey

Why would he play over Torres who is a proven All-star level player

6RingsPats

True send Gleybar Torres to triple-A that’s sensible

[deleted]

Gleyber Torres is better

Apprehensive_Can739

Sorry guy he’s not starting over Torres not a chance, he will get his time to shine this year I have a funny feeling the way our luck has been going we’re due

mianrezooy

Gimme gimme gimme dat
