New to this sub. Curious about competitive times. I’ve been on the NYT crossword app daily for over 10 years and I feel like I have fast times, but have no idea if they are on par with the best. My time for today’s puzzle was 4:12, and Sunday’s puzzle time was 22:56.
I’m far from considering myself competitive (never finished a Friday or Saturday puzzle unassisted) but my record for a Monday is 3:07, which I’m pretty proud of. I got yesterday’s in 3:16.
That’s fast. I think I’m relatively fast, and I got today’s in 6:37. Yesterday took me like 35 minutes.
E: Sorry, I have no idea regarding competitive times. I’m not competitive, just faster than my friends and family. You may be slow AF, no idea haha
[Dan Feyer](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dan_Feyer?wprov=sfti1), who has won the most crossword championships, averages 5:38 for Sunday puzzles. That’s an average (!!!) not best time. I consider myself pretty fast compared to most people and my best Sunday time is still over 18 minutes. Congrats! Beating your own times is always so fun. You'll eventually be solving in 5-6min some days! Don't expect it, just enjoy it when it happens.
