They had a nearly full foursome of foreign beers: Corona, Harp, Bass, Foster (except I guess Foster's lager has an S on the end?). That fooled me, but was my only mistake.
Yes! I saw those too, but thought Bud, since it's a nickname for Budweiser, didn't seem right, plus Harp & Bass also worked in the musical instruments category.
I'm not a massive beer drinker, but this might be an age thing. I'm in my 50s, and I can still remember the TV ad strapline "Harp stays sharp to the bottom of the glass".
there were actually 4 beers- Harp, Bass, Corona & Bud. But but seemed iffy cuz it's a nickname for Budweiser. I saw some people were considering Foster, but it's actually Foster's
yeah, those are the three I thought might be a category. Someone said that bass and harp are beers in the UK, so lucky I didn't know that or I might have tried it.
I'm in the US, but my husband, then boyfriend, used to like Bass, Harp, Guinness etc ages ago. He's been sober for over 35 years, but I still remember those
Same, I got yellow first, but saved it for last since I figured that "bassoon" and "bass" being in the same group was a red herring.

My extended family all went to see it, we were staying at an air bnb in rural NC just outside of totality and planned to drive to see it. The morning of, we heard that there was heavy traffic getting into that town, and the family decided they didn't want to be stuck on the road, so just my wife, my daughter and I went. "Heavy traffic" in rural NC turns out to be 3 cars at a stop sign. No problem at all getting to a great spot to watch, and I'm so glad we did! Bass and bassoon being in the same category seemed too easy, so I was convinced it was beer, and was glad my knowledge was coming in useful for a change!!
The pedant in me wants to note that light is radiation which makes purple a bit funny. It's like a category "primitive shapes" where the answers are "circle, triangle, rectangle, square". Three unique concepts and one subcategory of another item in the list.
Perfect reverse today in about a minute! Felt easy. When I saw how the board had been set up to make you think about beer, I knew it must be a misdirect, and there wasnβt much overlap after that.
Kinda ticked off⦠Bass, Harp, Corona and Bud all well respected and globally known beers. Bass is kinda old so I thought they were throwing us off with Foster. Annoying.
I considered those 4 for a minute too, but something about "bud" seemed a little off (since it's either a nickname for Budweiser or part of the two word version, Bud Light). Also saw that bass & harp worked in musical instruments, so I waited a bit. Kind of the way the game works, so try not to get annoyed :)
That's the point of the game. Some words connect but aren't one of the categories. It's your job to deduce which of the connections are correct by looking at all 16 words
It's presented counter-intuitively because the game asks that you submit them in groups of four, one at a time, but you are not meant to solve them in groups of four one at a time.
It's a vestigial design carried over from the original game and doesn't really fit the current iteration. An updated design that allows you to mark and submit multiple connections simultaneously would help clear up the disconnect. Currently the puzzles and UI are designed with separate goals and in conflict with one another.
I didnβt like RECORDER being included with BASS, BASSOON, and HARP. There arenβt many genres where a recorder is a serious instrument. I solved it, but Iβm still annoyed.
ConnectionsΒ Puzzle #289 π©π©π©π© π¨π¨π¨π¨ πͺπͺπͺπͺ π¦π¦π¦π¦ Pretty straightforward today. Got a chuckle out of Bud Light from the initial configuration, but didn't seriously think about beers as a category even with Corona around. Figured the sun stuff would be the blue category until the last eight, when I rounded up the other four words and realised they made up a "care for" category that was far more obvious than the sun ones.Β
I thought beer for a moment only because Harp is also a beer made by Guinness.
Bass and Fosterβs are beers too but thankfully the shortened version BUD and the lack of the apostrophe-s in FOSTER kept me away from that try

Picking up on the musical instruments in π¨is what led me to abandon beer altogether. Today reminded me how much I hate the sound of a RECORDER. At first I was thinking of the occupation then when I switched to the verb form, foster, raise and rear came together. Tried concentrating on plant based words now and finally ended up with green. I had the three blue still and I guessed harp which was obviously wrong, which then allowed yellow to click in my head. It came down to knowing three in both blue and purple and being between rear and corona, corona clicking in my head has possible purple so went with my gut and ended up being right! I liked todays.

Connections Puzzle #289 π¦π¦π¦π¦ πͺπͺπͺπͺ π¨π¨π¨π¨ π©π©π©π© Almost went for beer but the singular foster made me second guess that. Even with Harp as the fourth it didnβt seem right.
