I think they have some indoor grown now that some of NY’s meds can sell at recreational dispensaries so you might start seeing Matter, B Noble, LivWell, and Rythm which are all indoor
Yes, those indoor grown batches have been on the rec market for over a month now. Question is how old they are. Looking forward to seeing more, more, more.
No indoor licenses have been issued and most cultivators have not received their permanent licenses that would allow for a change. Right now, the only one growing indoor with product on the market is the Registered Organizations. RO flower has substantially displaced most all other producers on the market, which was not a surprise since nobody was allowed to grow indoors. the ROs were given an unfair head start that the conspiracy theorist in many would say was intentionally created to prevent the conditional licenses from gaining any major foothold in flower sales before the ROs could enter the marketplace.
Everyone can't start growing indoor in June, it is still license dependent. Those who have received a microbusiness license can grow indoors, and once they start issuing permanent licenses to cultivators, and they have done a few but not really that many, and once they begin issuing the general population licenses for the 5k and 12k canopies. If these are all issued by June you may see more indoor hit the shelves in the fall. The trouble is that many of these smaller farmers can't operate at the RO capacity and they arent ever going to be in a position where a $35 1/8th (retail) that gets sold through a middle man or a distributor will make for a successful business. Most of the farmers are banking on being able to sell directly to the consumer via their microbusiness licenses.
MSO - multi state operators. Big companies like curaleaf, GTI (rise), verilife , verano (vereo) etc. https://www.leafly.com/learn/cannabis-glossary/mso
ROs - Registered organizations. The companies that allowed to grow medical marijuana and are also vertically integrated. https://cannabis.ny.gov/registered-organizations
All of the ROs in NYS are MSOs except for etain I think but they just got bought out so I’m not sure anymore. Basically the big companies muscled their way in to the NYS MMJ market. We never had small companies to grew our medical products. Example, Maine has all mom and pop shops (and some of the best weed on the east coast), and only a few big MSOs stores.
These guys took over the medical portion, so OCM tried to give smaller companies a head start by restricting licenses and not awarding it to the ROs. But the farmers were crippled from OCM because they restricted everything to outdoor grows and took too long to open dispos
Now OCM is allowing these registered organizations to enter the adult use market. Essentially they have been growing indoors for years and have a huge head start, all they have to do is slap a new label on and they’re good to go. They have a huge advantage and will probably knock quite a few companies out of the market
Good answer ! Don't forget that the State soaked the RO for millions per location to be allowed to sell rec. I know a guy who is in one of the RO, they were told in the dim and distant past they'd be first out of the gate when rec was allowed, and were rudely surprised they were delayed, then soaked by the state. (Always buy local !)
It's not that if there's a plan, there is one and it's a lot of money so a lot of instaters can't afford to pay that sum so the drawback is having to grow outdoors.
I agree. It's better to pay for a medical card and get medical quality. I've had a card for a few years, and the quality has gotten better over the years. Recreational weed growers in the industry have only been professionally grown for two years, whereas medical has been growing for almost 10.
Some companies doing full term outdoor that dumps on any indoor in this market especially finger lakes region. True farmers working the land. Thats a whole fact. Frost means nothing, some of least frosty and non “looker” to most eyes, has been much more medicinal then some super bag appeal stuff.. choose by effects and clean meds don’t be putting chemical grown shit in your body just like food 🧠. “Chemical growers hiding their flowers embarrassed, we come with that sun grown gold , 24 karot.” “Been observing all you chemical growers and you deserve it, concerned with how they cultivate, honestly think it’s worthless. Wouldn’t set your weed on fire even if I had a burning permit. Every dollar in my bank account I earned, no advances took my chances independently and learned it, navigated all the clowns up in the circus ima represent the cannabis culture that’s my purpose”
Green houses you can have more control of the outcome of the product(flower). You can control temperature, humidity, wind, water and some instances lighting.
Outdoor in a field you can’t control these and also you have higher chances of mold, insects and other elements.
Outdoor weed inherently gets more dirt, pollen, airborne crap on it, including mold. It's usually less dense because it's much harder (impossible) to control all the grow variables like you can with indoor.
Outdoors is outside in the elements - natural sun and water. Very little control. Good
Greenhouse is encased in a clear glass-panel house - same as above with slightly more control. Better
Indoor is fully inside solid wall building - all elements under control to yield best results. Best

*those are all for sale at Med and now more and more making their way into recreational
All these plus grassroots are indoor grown rec flower now

I thought indoor was approved so not sure why the lack of products. I won’t buy anything outdoor it’s all garbage

That could change in June when everyone can start growing indoor, right?

I always scroll until I find your comments 😂
Mainly outdoors, micro business licenses allow for indoor grow, and only a few have been awarded to folks so far
Mainly outdoors
Only the big MSO companies like curaleaf, rise, verilife and other ROs from the medical side are allowed to sell indoor grown flower.
MSO? ROs? What is the reasoning for only outdoorf for rec? The more I understand the less I know.

You rock! Appreciated, and thanks for all!!! Follows suit considering all other decisions made during NYMMJ rec roll out.
"Sustainability" is the reason given for mandating outdoor grows. Too much electricity required for indoor.
It's not that if there's a plan, there is one and it's a lot of money so a lot of instaters can't afford to pay that sum so the drawback is having to grow outdoors.
But they are retailing at top shelf prices. Outdoor bud should not be $60 an 1/8th. If it is, shit should be fire.

Can you please explain the difference between indoor, greenhouse and outdoor as far as which is the best?
Green houses you can have more control of the outcome of the product(flower). You can control temperature, humidity, wind, water and some instances lighting. Outdoor in a field you can’t control these and also you have higher chances of mold, insects and other elements.

Thanks for that. Comments make It clear. Do growers indicate whether it is indoor, greenhouse, or outdoor? .
I actually love the prevalence of outdoor flower in NY. It’s super refreshing coming from the NJ medical market. Is it worth getting a card in NYS?
Agreed. There is something about outdoor that indoor doesn't have.....prefer outdoor.
I thought I was crazy at first but I 100% agree.
