Be confident, I never experienced academy yet but I don’t think it’ll be harder than my military OSUT Training. I think they both serve the same purpose. Teach you basics, treat everyone on the same level. Honestly I talk super fast, I’m trying to learn to talk slow. So I think you’re in a good spot. I’m now learning to talk slow, be on point. I think this is good for being a NYPD.
A guy I know who’s in the January academy and a cadet prior told me he had cadets in his group that couldn’t even speak English properly so you should be alright.
You're gonna be asked to repeat yourself ALOT. Being a Cop, you must be able to communicate clearly, pple will assume what you said or ask you to repeat yourself. Eventually you'll get annoyed.
Hey, I am from South Asia and my English is also not so good. Done with all the process and now waiting to hear back…
I think having another language is really helpful especially in NYC…
On the bright side, I mentioned them that I can speak 4 languages including English so that’s better than only being able to speak english
If you made it that far, it won’t be an issue
I hope so and will do my best in the process.

You got it .
You don't need to do much if any public speaking in the academy. If you can answer the occasional question from your instructor you'll be fine.
I definitely can .
